It was a different era, but you seem to forget the progress we've made. You also forget there would have been NO slavery around the world had their own people not sold them off for them for things like blankets, wax candles, oil lamps and the oil to run them, fire water, pre made bows and arrows and food. You just don't understand we can't take the morals from the present and apply then to a different era. During the Civil War fought to free the slaves: 110,000+ killed in action/died of wounds, 230,000+ accident/disease deaths, 25,000–30,000 died in Confederate prisons, 365,000+ total dead, 282,000+ wounded, 181,193 captured, Total: 828,000+ casualties.

365,000+ total dead, 282,000+ wounded: Grandparents, husbands and sons dead and wounded to free the slaves that's a far greater number than the 390,000 slaves brought to North America. I think they paid for their sins. The people who were responsible for the travesty have been dead for almost 200 years.

The same way anyone acts. No one calls black people uncle Tom’s unless they are saying stupid things like blacks should be grateful for slavery. It’s so interesting when a black person does something bad we condemn the race But when a white person does something bad we see that person as an individual
    Was MLK an Uncle Tom?

Forget slavery...segregation was not even 100 years ago. Do you believe that because segregation becomes illegal one day that attitudes also change in one day? It will take several generations

So you say that everyone else in the world sells out their race for their self aggrandizement? That is a foolish notion. Everyone does not do that. Only short sighted fools engage in such activity.

It was no dodge. The point of the thread was that selling out your race is degraded activity. Sure I can tell you how I think not only blacks, but how people in general, should behave, IF you really want to hear it.

We are all capable of being prejudice. But it is white people who have the most power.

I know you’re not asking me but that’s too bad I will respond. Blacks should act like any other human beings but I guess a better question would be, how should white bigots act?

Actually I have to disagree with you, a lot has changed. We have a much larger black middle class. You even take music were young people Of all races respect black rappers for the Impact they have made. Affirmative action has given black kids so many more opportunities

Only because others placed themselves in a subordinate position. There are 8 Black CEOs in the fortune 500, they are there because they put aside and whining victim hood and worked to get to the brass ring......and made it.

They will act the same way black bigots or Asian or Native American or Latino bigots act, did you really have to ask that?

Since you asked, I will tell you how I think human beings, IN GENERAL, should act.

First of all, humans should strive to be clean. They should strive to keep themselves physically clean in terms of bathing and personal hygiene. One should maintain a healthy diet, and not overindulge in gluttony and on items known to adversely affect health. Not only that but a person should strive to keep a clean mind, and not dwell on thoughts that lead one to degraded activity.

Humans should also strive to be truthful. They should not engage in deceit simply for their self aggrandizement. They should put in the time to try to understand philosophically what is the truth about the nature of their existence.

Humans should strive to live a regulated life in terms of eating, sleeping, work, and sex. They should not engage too much or too little in terms of their individual capacity in these areas.

And very importantly, humans should cultivate the qualities of tolerance, mercy, and charity towards others.

In general terms, that is how I think humans should behave.

Oh yes, blacks have always had the opportunities white men have had.yes, they had rich daddies who gave them headstarts...let’s blame black people for putting themselves in subordinate positions, yeah it was black people who chose to sit in the back of the bus and it was black people who chose to go to inferior black schools.
Thank goodness for affirmative action these black people are succeeding...and white guys are pissed as hell.colin Powell is the first one to tell you that. My husband who was a back office clerk on Wall Street is the first to admit that if he hadn’t been a white male he never would have gotten the opportunity to go on the trading floor and become a vice President

Asian students are no more intellectually gifted than non-Asian students are. The reason that Asian students outperform their peers in the classroom has nothing to do with how they were born and everything to do with how they are raised.

    http://www.greatschools.org/gk/articles/parenting-students-to-the-top/[/b][/quote]

The kids have to stay in school and want to learn, that takes concerned parents behind them.....Asian immigrants and their children are a prime example. Most Vietnamese immigrants come to the U.S. dirt poor and end up going to some of Southern California's worst schools, living in the worst neighborhoods and still excel. One only need look at their family structure and culture to find the answer.

Blacks have to change the way they live and raise their children if they're going to get anywhere.........and STOP blaming everyone else!

No, not necessarily. Although a religious person should behave in this way, an atheist should do the same. If you are interested, I could elaborate on how a religious person should behave.
