    wow, did not see that coming, looks like McCarthy may be coming back

    MAGA loses all their power over him if he does, this could be the worst thing MAGA could have done

    maybe the sane in both parties could do some bipartisan bills again, work for America, like under the Clinton years

    It is pure maleficence on the part of the House to be conducting itself this way. There is never a good time for the Nation to be drifting aimlessly, but it is especially bad at this moment. The duopoly's determination to serve itself at whatever cost to us must be put to an end it the republic is to continue.

    Republican self-inflicted impotence in Congress is seriously harmful to the United States, especially in time of crises, and serves the interests of the nation's enemies.

    The bunglers would do better to ignore the muliply-indicted Loser's orders, put all members names in a pickelhaube, and have George Santos pick one than persist in their protracted dysfunction.

    There's another, on the Right, who just emerged, as a new contender: Georgia's Austin Scott. His district went for Trump, of course, in both 2016 & 2020. Since there are two Air Force bases in his district, he is very pro-military, and sits on the he Armed Services Committee, as well as on the Intelligence, and on the Agriculture Committees. He's in his seventh Congressional term.

    Scott helped Georgia Democrats in the effort to remove the Confederate battle emblem from the state flag in 2001, bucking the Republican Party line.

    But Scott opposes abortion and same-sex marriage and has called for federal bans on both. He also challenged the 2020 election of Biden over Trump.

    I would expect there to be greater objection to Jordan, among any truly moderate Republicans, though these may see the idea of at least having some Speaker, as better than having none at all. Whether it would work out that way-- being any better than none-- remains to be seen.

    Who needs to worry about foreign terrorists when we have Republicans?

    This is all they ever seem to accomplish

    Maybe that’s too many words, they seem to usually keep it under four words
    and before anyone complains — my post is obviously discussing republican politicians

    I do not know much about him, and that says to me, be a good choice, he seems to lean further right, but also can do the right thing in a bipartisan fashion, even when unpopular with some in his party based on your post, so thus far, see nothing wrong with him

    I expect to have political differences with a republican speaker, that is normal, on the other hand Jordan would be like putting a bull in charge of a China shop
