LOL It wasn't a question mate. You asked why I made the comments and I told it was because I wanted to know why you made them in the first place. Instead of asking the question directly I posed a more confronting one in order to entice you into giving a reason.

What Oz has is a group of people within the body politic who are bitterly anti-American. They have reached critical mass.

Why do you focus exclusively on America?

I'm not sure why Mega is, but I am as the title is US Marines to be based outside Darwin. Seems to be focused on America a little so I suppose that is why.

Megs is on multiple threads hurling vituperation and criticism on America and Americans. He never posts on the threads concerning China.

and this has to do with US Marines in Darwin ... in what way?

Can you name the few who post silly things here?

Edit: Americans are responsible for American policies. One cannot honestly attempt to create an artificial intellectual construct that Americans can be separated from America and what it does in the world. To do so is intellectually dishonest.

Believing in freedom, and understanding the need to welcome our American allies, whilst despising the misongyst (wrapped in the mindset of the Dark Ages) Muslim fanatics, and their mindless followers on this site, is very, very Australian.

Well obviously I can't possibly speak on behalf of every American or on behalf of every Australian. Even a dill can see that. And even if I was American, I would certainly would not be speaking on behalf of Chomsky. I feel thoroughly ashamed that some dimwits in OZ decided to give him an award. I know what I would like to give him him!

Well I for one am definitely not a Muslim fanatic, definitely not wrapped in the mindset of the dark ages.

I would be a lot happier if the US troops here were given the same rights as Australian Service people do when serving in the US. That is the right to come under Australian law, just as the Australian Service people must come under US law.

I would be happier still if the US left some of the world alone instead of forcing it's opinions, values and beliefs on the rest of us.

I have no problem with us being allies, and I actually know the meaning of the word.

    1. To place in a friendly association, as by treaty: Italy allied itself with Germany during World War II.
    2. To unite or connect in a personal relationship, as in friendship or marriage.

Nothing here about using each other for political expediency or in keeping one of the allies people protected against the laws of the other. Hmmmm

believing in freedom is not equivalent to licking america's arse.

despising anyone says more about you than it does about those you despise. Like it or not, Australia is a multicultural society, and Australians now include a significant number of Muslims.

lumping all muslims together as jihadists is contrary to the Australian notion of "a fair go". and suggests that you are very much unaustralian.

Can any society be unified and multicultural at the same time? If so, how...walk me through your logic and avoid bromides and platitudes. Multiculturalism means separate identities.

I dont. When I go a thread entitled "US Marines to based outside Darwin, Australia" I focus on the US and not, say Turkey in Cyprus. DO you know why? Because its relevant. If you want to discuss Turkey's illegal and often barbaric action in Cyprus, or against the Kurds, I would be happy to - its just irrelevant here.

wtf does this have to do with US marines in Oz? LOL Well, you've got some interesting questions so I'll answer them anyway:

    Yes, I think so.

Becuase they are unified as a nation and community. A homogenous culture is not necesary for a nation and has never existed as far as I am aware. Take France for example, at the time of its revolution. This is a time disputed as one of the birth points of modern nationalism. And yet French society was so culturally diverse, people in the South could hardly understand people form say Paris. They were also divided religiously and politically. Yet they were unified to invade Europe (granted there was a Royalist rebellion in the Vendee, although this was probably more political than culturally inspired).

Not really - multiculturalism IS an identity.

So you cant brand or assume the world about all people, just those you are debating? LOL Yes that makes total sense

You shouldnt, he deserved it and gave a good speech too.

A hug? That would be nice. Oh no wait, you'd prefer to give him the old "you're in the the company of the misogynist Jihad fanatics" and tell him how he is "blinded by your hatred of anything that smacks of the Free (Western) world", yet I'd wager you've never read let alone refuted one of his books or his writing.

Why do you avoid the Chinese threads. You've admitted your ignorance, but participation in those threads would help you get schooled.

a lot of societies are "multicultural".

    try mauritius.

their public holidays include christmas (christian). divali (hindu), eid el fetr Muslim), Chinese spring festival.

there are problems when you get the politicisation of ethnic/cultural groups - and in virtually every case I have ever read about this is related to inequities of the past

How is multiculturalism working out in Tibet, Xinjiang, Thailand, Malaysia, the UK, France, Germany, and America?

Perhaps separate identities don't matter in little countries.
