I've been waiting to see the footage of all the conservatives rioting, looting, attacking people, destroying property, etc over this. I must have missed it, cause certainly that can't just be a pathetic liberal thing?

Well, he isn't better than anyone else, obviously. He remains 1 of only 3 presidents in US history to be impeached. Lol

Who else would be in favor of dismantling NATO? I suppose you could just be a Putin "fellow traveler."

A vote to adopt articles of impeachment is not, in and of itself, impeachment. Unless the articles are prosecuted in the senate, the articles are moot.

Well, that's no rule of thumb. Impeachment (obviously) means very little in the CV of life. Just look at the crimes committed by Bush Baby Junior and Ronny Reagan and the up-starts Hillary Clinton and Dick Chenny and Donny Rumsfeld and Nikki Haley. And there are idiots like Maxine Waters, Sarah Palin, and Hank Johnson. But have any of them been impeached or kicked out of office? Nope.

I said that Donald Trump is the best man available and I stand by that statement.

Nah, conservatives just mail pipe bombs to Trump's enemies.

But...theres a post on this thread where someone said civil war would happen if trump got removed from his office. So I guess guys are just biding their time.

NATO has been one of the primary protections of Western democracies. Why do you think the former Warsaw Pact members are rushing to join?

Regarding to which they all agreed to reach a 2% of GDP defense budget by 2020, at a Wales NATO Summit, during the Obama administration.

 I don't believe you said that. NATO is the biggest threat to world peace. Just look at the wars raging right now. All of them instigated by the U.S. and supported by most of the NATO lackeys. Anyway, the U.S. is probably the least Democratic nation in NATO.

Favours. They want favours. Most greedy people like to hang out with "the bully" lest they become victims of bullying themselves.

Hmmm..."favors" as in "self-interests?" I suspect it has something to do with their fear of Russia and want insurance against a Russian invasion.

Still the job of european to defend europe. People on other continent are tired of shedding blood and money to save europeans from their bad decisions.

Actually, the only time Article 5 of the NATO Treaty has been invoked (the clause about an attack on one shall be considered an attack on all) was following the 9/11 attack on the United States.

    not sure if serious but....
    My favorite:
S.M. Sterling, Emberverse (starting with Dies the Fire) and its sister series Nantucket (starting with Island in the Sea of Time)
Emberverse is semi-normal for the first 3 books, then after book 4 it gets weird and goes on for 10 more books, endless reading!
Nantucket Stay's semi-normal for all 3 books and its loosely a PA book but its fascinating!
    Runner Ups.
    The Stand, King
The Road, McCarthey <better than the movie
    Swan song, McGammon <sp?
    Earth Abides, Stewart

There are others, but those I can stand behind.
I've read both Sterling series listed above twice and if i'm going on a flight i'll just grab a random one off the shelf and start reading.

As far as movies, not a whole lot to recommend:
    The road isnt' my favorite
Mad Max, more of an action flick
book of eli, good but weird
    waterworld and the postman, entertaining
parasite is on my list, i've heard its great.
not listing all the zombie stuff, but i've enjoyed a few.
There is one more that I actually thought was very realistic, and done recently, but the dam name escapes me right now.

Yeah, you just convienently forgot about WW1 and WW2 were we had to go there and fight their wars... This isn't about NATO, it's about EUROPEAN taking care of their OWN *******N DEFENSE!

And do you really believe the USA needed european help? Some of the USA police force are better trained and equiped than some of the european armed forces...

NATO was formed in 1949, AFTER both WW I and WW II. The U.S. delayed entry into both of those previous wars. WW I began in 1914. We entered in 1917. WW II began in 1939. We entered in 1941. Our late entries into both were caused primarily by the isolationist tendencies of the Republican Party. Following WW II, a bi-partisan consensus emerged regarding possible future conflicts that would be discouraged or prevented through "collective security," which would protect small country members as well as super-powers. And NATO, as one of those alliances, has served its members well. Which is why most of the former members of the Warsaw Pact have either joined NATO or applied for membership.

Not me...probably a lot of people in Ukraine, the Baltic States, and the independent states of Eastern Europe. But...be my guest. If the GOP wants to run on the platform of dissolving NATO...go for it.

Apparently that is what one of the Democrats constitutional scholar witnesses is saying today that unless she sends the articles to the Senate he is not officially impeached.

"Noah Feldman, one of the Democrats’ top impeachment witnesses against President Donald Trump, said in an op-ed on Thursday that Democrats have not yet impeached the president despite their vote last night..

    ...
Feldman noted that “according to the Constitution, impeachment is a process, not a vote,” and that while a modest delay would not pose a problem, an lengthy delay would be a “serious problem.”

“Impeachment as contemplated by the Constitution does not consist merely of the vote by the House, but of the process of sending the articles to the Senate for trial,” Feldman wrote. “Both parts are necessary to make an impeachment under the Constitution: The House must actually send the articles and send managers to the Senate to prosecute the impeachment. And the Senate must actually hold a trial.”

I'm no constitutional scholar. I'm just a bricklayer from Ohio, but the law is clear enough for even me to have figured that out.

There are 29 NATO states and 9 of them have a superior Democracy than the U.S. This is the list of the top 34 World Democracies. I have labelled those that are NATO states. Note also that 7 of those EUROPEAN nations with higher Democracies than the U.S. are not NATO members.:

    World Democracies 1 NATO.jpg World Democracies 2 NATO.jpg

If I were in charge I would dissolve NATO before the end of this day. BTW, it is 7:30 PM here right now so let's get to work!
