But in an interview on ABC's "This Week" Sunday, Dr. Deborah Birx, one of the leaders of the government's response to the virus, said it is "difficult to tell" whether such a step may be necessary.

This is what Trump heard, and why he is acting as if the Virus is dead.

I would like to know how many dead, will still be OK, or when should we reclose?

Or beyond? Is there ANY number of dead citizens, before we rethink Trump's demand to ignore this virus?

    D- none of the above.

We closed to not overwhelm hospitals and medical staff, remember, flatten the curve?

I think the bar should be higher for closing the country again. We now have a little better idea of the infection rate
and death rate and we know that with greater care around certain industries, that most of the country can remain in
a modified state of being open.

Reopening certain sectors, like cruise lines and mass transit are going to be problematic. And retirement homes and
concerts are going to need strict guidelines. I would imagine that some industries will see light traffic even if reopened.

Of course not. Lockdowns don't save lives, they just delay deaths. The virus is not going to disappear just because we hide in our houses for a few weeks.

Well, delaying death pretty much sums up the entire human experience.

Lockdowns SAVE LIVES. Some countries, using testing, tracking and quarantine, have VERY FEW new cases. The standard saying, that it ONLY flattens the curve, is due to TRUMP ruining any ability to test, track and quarantine. Flatten the curve, is for THIS COUNTRY, with THIS President.

Present data. While incomplete, we now have a better idea than we did 3 months ago.
I don't think there will be a perfect solution. Life is messy. And there will always be components of uncertainty.

You don't really believe that, I hope. There is plenty of life to be lived and I certainly don't want my grandchildren to live through a Great Depression just to gain me a couple more years of life.

What number for the death rate? I read 0.24%.

Should we lock down for 0.24%?

It is also in the hope that therapeutics, or vaccine intervene in a final count.

You have already assured them of living through a depression just given the amount of money we have overspent each year since Reagan first took office.

And they will eventually unquarantine and the numbers will do up.

    Don't change the subject.

Are you willing to bequeath a Great Depression to the young to gain a few more years of life?

Well, now that this ability has been ruined we should open up so we don't ruin the lives of the survivors economically.

With new infections quarantined, the rate does NOT go up.

But then we have Brazil, which refused to lock-down, with over 5% death rate.
And Sweden, which also refused to shut down at 4,000 deaths with 33,000 infections.
    Lots of variables.

If you kill yourself now, you will be less of a drain on the future generation. You going to do that?

    Didn't think so.

The question is whether or not we should lock down not who is culpable

I don't think I am a drain on society. At least not yet. If I do ever think so I would probably opt for euthenasia.

But I am willing to risk my life on a reopened society to help my grandchildren.

    I'm 58 with pre-diabetes. I'm probably high risk.

I'll risk getting the virus. I don't want this country shut down and destroyed to save a few old people like me. I don't want my kids and grandkids living in a Venezuela-type situation.
