In the same vein as the gun control advocates:

We should demand background checks on all voters. After all, voting is very important and voting for the wrong person could irreversibly damage the country as witnessed with the last election. All rights have limits and if you have nothing to worry about, you should not complain.

I think Browning and Savage are the last two manufacturers of bolt action shotguns. (Could be more)
They're not a very popular item designed mostly for Turkey or deer hunting. I'm guessing at one time they were a stronger action designed to handle the high pressure of hunting loads better than other actions of the era better. They're also bought for beginners, mostly because they were cheaper. Personally I can't think of one reason why anyone would want to buy one now. All the other action types have been beefed up and they're really no safer for a beginner anyway.
But if your brothers bolt action hasn't killed anyone perhaps they are bred to be more docile than other action types?

Most bolt action firearms are in the repeater class meaning they hold multiple rounds. Is there a reason the bolt action repeater is more acceptable than all the other repeater actions?

If one gets past a shallow talking point view of the intent of the amendment, one would discover what the folk who wrote it both said and did. One of the first acts of the new Congress was to pass the Militia Act of 1791 which described in detail which arms were protected for the citizens, rifles, shotguns, pistols and edged weapons. All crew served weapons like cannon were to be provided by the state or the feds and were stored in state armories. That does not mean they were illegal for private ownership. They were not. They were just not protected under the 2nd.

Along with better background checks, limiting the amount of bullets in a clip to 10,banning military type guns, better enforced regulations at gun shows. I would also propose people having to get liability Insurance when they buy a gun,if they are responsible gun owners they should be as responsible in selling their guns. I also propose that if Congress doesn't pass the number of bullets in a clip or assault weapons ban, they should charge an outrageous amount for the bullets or have a limited supply of bullets available. I also would propose that newspapers give their list of ads to the police of people selling their guns through those ads,(coin shops already have to do a form of this.)

My opinion is,if the police don't use particular guns, there is no reason for the general public to use & have particular guns!
Also in my opinion, the only people that should have guns on the street & a permit to carry on the streets are the police.
If a hunter owns a gun, keep it on the farm or locked up in your home if your an urban dweller & use it for what it was intended for,to hunt for food, like deer, pheasant, rabbit, bear, ect.
In my opinion we would not even be having this discussion over what to ban & who's feelings are going to be hurt, what rights & who's rights are more important if gun manufacturers, the NRA & responsible gun owners, would have spent more time helping regulate the laws already in existence than the manufacturers Greed, the NRA lobbying politicians,& responsible gun owners following the laws instead of skirting them or disregarding them altogether.

Ummm but the police do use military style weapons. Modern military style weapons such as the AR-15. So I assume your against the AWB and your previous post was in error.
Not much sense in a magazine ban either. The police use whatever they want and are exempted from legislation.
I see your not in favor of citizens having the right to defend themselves. That is your choice. I seldom see anyone trying to revoke your choice. I find it disingenuous that you would revoke someone elses choice when no one is revoking yours. Do you feel your opinion is more valid than anyone else?
Now I must claim ignorance. How does one regulate laws already in existence? If a law is in existence adding more regulation to it would be changing the law.
Also you seem to be accusing responsible gun owners of skirting the laws already in place. Might want to think about that for a minute.

So much FAIL, so little time.

How about enforcing the current laws eh? Too much to think about?

I am certainly glad that almost all States disagree with you on allowing law abiding citizens to defend themselves.

My choice doesn't hurt anybody for one!
Yes, I am accusing gun owners of skirting the laws, they buy guns at gun shows without background checks, they take out ads in the newspaper to sell guns like they are selling used furniture(there is more enforcement selling coins then there are guns)People go buy 10 or more guns at a time & the people selling the guns are more interested in the money going in their pockets then to even question why 1 person is buying so many guns at a time.( Irresponsible)
You can argue all you want about my opinion & your 2nd Amendment rights, but again,if all you gun lovers out there would help keep the laws & regulations in check instead of just crying about your rights,we would not even be having this discussion.
And yes, the policemen can carry any weapon that the law says they can use. They go through special training,we employ them for the purpose of protecting the peace, which I have every right to enjoy.
I see no reason for you or any other citizen (exect police) to carry a weapon in public & that is not taking away anyone's rights,at least not any less of rights than say, walking down the street nude.

sorry, meant to hit reply, not "Like"
sorry, I don't like nor do I want any further infringements on any of my Rights. I am not a supporter of compromise where any of this is concerned. I think the men and women of this nation should be allowed to make their own INDIVIDUAL choices without someone else demanding they believe and practice what they choose. That's called LIBERTY
You don't want guns, don't own them. You don't want me to have guns, come get 'em. Better be armed when ya do......
I couldn't help but notice your list included the scarey parts and pieces of the infamous AR-15 and most of your generalizations are directed to that end as well. I've just decided this a ia a bait question.

I believe that persons who acquire and posses Arms and being part of the unorganized militia of a State, should automatically be "enrolled" as such in case of need by a State.

You are free to believe that. If the State ever needed my services for a legitimate legal purpose I'd be willing to listen.
Of course if the State held your beliefs they wouldn't be trying to restrict my rights now would they. You've failed yet again.

So, I will ask you to have a discussion on these rights that have been taken away & then tell me why it is so important that we can't have common sense gun control.
They have taken away & or restricted our rights at airports big time.
They have banned all smoking in public places, when it is still legal to smoke.
The Gov of Michigan has overriden the voters & hired a special manager to go take over several cities there, the voters voted for the Mayors,Supervisors-all ousted by the Gov.
Several states have banned abortion, yet it is still legal,
Voters rights are being violated in several states despite what the voters say.
Some Gov's in some states want to ban birth control of any form.
These are just some of the issues taking place in our country right now,we all have the same Constitution,we" used" to all compromise.
And nobody is saying we are coming to take your guns away, you have umpty nine million choices of guns to own,why is banning this god aweful massacre machine with 30 rapid fire clip capacity that these killers have been using such a issue with you guys?

Oh,but, times, they are a changing.
I don't know how many times I have to say this to you, it is not the law abiding gun owners we are arguing against, not everyone that has a gun is law abiding.

It shows that the person has no regard for the rule of law. If they don't have the willpower to keep away from illegal drugs, how can we expect them to be trusted with a firearm.

First lie. Without a gun, my uncle would be DEAD.

Second lie. Nobody is "skirting" anything.

Third lie. Most pro-gun people(including me) WANT laws enforced! Guess what: they aren't!
Many cops can barely his a wall at three paces.

Are you blind or do you WANT people unable to defend themselves? My wife sometimes finishes her shift at 3am, carrying cash (sometimes $1500+) and multiple credit card numbers (most was 22) Yeah, she wants to be able to defend herself! (And she does.)

    Fourth lie.

Yet you argue only to limit law abiding citizens. Yes the times are a changing. This country has moved from what made it great to the new generation that thinks government is God.

You of coarse are entitled to your opinion. But yet so am I. How can my opinion be considered by you--A "LIE"
If the laws are not being skirted, why is there such an issue about them right now? I know the laws are being skirted,I owned a baseball card shop,I went to the shows in which gun booths were set up,intermingled with coins & sports cards. I've witnessed how the gun booths dealers took down a gun on display, person plops down the money, dealer packages up the gun & away the person goes, not check,no tax,now that's skirting or completely disregarding the law on 2 fronts. And that's no lie!
I am not blind,I am just not paranoid,I've lived 58 years without owning a gun,I have never been accosted,I have hitch-hiked this country from one end to the other without incident. I also have carried cash in the evening after closing my shop,I have never been approached or had reason to think, mmm, maybe I should have a gun!
And I had to laugh at your attempt to disregard police.LOL
If you also want gun laws enforced, which is pretty much what we are advocating, help us come up with resonable solutions. Just Saying....

told you it was a bait question. what guys? First, in order to have a viable discussion, you need to familiarize yourself with the topic at hand. They have used a multitude of weaponry. The pistol is the first choice of weapons. Light weight and easily concealed. Only a couple of people have used anything that closely resembled a rifle. Are you talking about full auto weapons? Or just semi-automatics? And when you start referring to weapons outside of their description, you are tipping your hand. I knew it wasn't about a few conditional changes in the appearance of the weapon, it was about a total and complete ban.
Somewhere in that mind of yours, you know that you are only chanting the same montra that the the anti-gun crowd mouths.
I like my 30 round magazine. But it has never been used for anything more than target practice. So, I suspect, you believe that only an our of control government and corrupt police shuld own guns? How 'bout them crims..you really believe that eliminating these cosmetic devices is going to stop the crims? Do you really believe that requiring gun registration will keep the guns out of the hands of people that would seek to do harm?
The more corruption that happens, the more likely all of your Rights will be stripped away from you. What will you do then?
Cry and weep because you didn't stop it when you could have?
Lay down and let them have their way with you?
Paaaaaaaaaaaaaah..........libs and subjects have one thing in common..........and extremist point of view that is one hundred percent PC speech with nothing to back it up.
    Is this Bowerbird in disguise?
These other things you speak of are not Rights or part of the Bill of Rights.
    I don't fly. If I can't drive, thenI don't go.
Smoking is not a Right. I don't smoke in restaurants, anyway. I believe in being curteous.
    Policitcs has always been corrupt.
But who 's Rights have I violated by owning guns?
Which one of your precious Rights have I violated?

Not at all dude, not at all. If you think that, then you have been mis- reading my posts or not reading them at all.
And, all I can say about your last comment is that this country is still a great country, would be even better country if we could get gun violence under control!!!
