What is wrong with American traditions

Actually most Americans who fought in the world wars did so because the U.S. federal government came and told them to and that if they didn't they would go to prison.

 

Yes. Symbolic of hatred. Hatred of policemen, and the institution they represent. We don't fly the Bill of Rights on flag poles. We don't pledge allegiance to the statue of liberty or her inscription. The flag, the pledge, and the anthem represent our shared commitment to preserving our freedoms in the proud tradition of Americas founders. Maybe other countries do things differently and I encourage everyone to explore all their options. God bless America.::

The country is evolving, God no longer plays a major roll in many families lives, the country so politically divided that many people are unwilling to compromise instead choosing to live on either side of the fence.

Prayer can never be stopped since you can pray silently and no one can ever stop you from doing that; kids in school can choose to silently pray every hour if they want. The pledge of allegiance has become--in many minds--obsolete since the country has drifted away from it's original core values and is considered by many who object to it to be brain washing on the part of the country.

Why abandon them now? The world is changing; it was changing in our parents time and it continues to change during our time. Things that our parents felt that were near and dear to them we cast them aside because times were changing and now things that we feel are near and dear are being cast aside because times are changing and the same thing will happen to them when the next generation becomes adults.

 

And the racists were all Democrats.

 

What rights are not protected now, and what measures would you use to protect them?

What about people who deny or play-down the horrors committed by the socialists in the USSR, China, and Cambodia, and are still being committed in NoKo? Should they be jailed as well?

 

Lots of people have hope for many reasons.....but that does NOT change the FACT that christianity did NOT eliminate or reduce evil or moral decadence or oppression....

...in FACT, it created much of it's own evil and oppression and moral decadence...

So there really is no 'tradition' that has been affected.

Behaving in a traditional manner isn't always a good thing....

The sanctity of marriage between one man and one women. Strong marraiges and strong families. There are some of these,, granted but there are a great many that scoff at the lifestyle. By your previous posts I'd be willing to bet you'll scoff at what I just said. I gave you an honest answer and the statistics of broken families bear me out. Another tradition is the Christian tradition of allowing children to pray in school. The 1st 150 years or better of our Nation, Bible was part of the curriculum. That is another tradition that has been lost in public schools. That is o.k. however, we have that in private schools and home schools which are growing leaps and bounds. And we are finally getting tax credits for them!

Minorities need to be protected by the same anti-discrimination laws that the majority are protected by.

I was referring to the fact that the south used to be Democrat.

 

Anti-discrimination laws do protect minorities. That's who they were made for.

 

Well I'm starting to think the reason is because people currently want to build something new without thinking about wether or not they should.

They look at the great trials over come just 3 generations earlier and they want that glory. They want to be the people that historians celebrate as freedom fighters.

Sadly they'll be seen as more along the lines of the people who placed momentary virtue over future.

 

Why just in the former USSR? If denying past atrocities can allow them to happen again it should be illegal in every country. First of all full knowledge of these atrocities should be well taught in all schools. Most young people have no idea what happened in the USSR and China. They know something about the Nazi holocaust mostly through movies.
Actually I don't support charging people for expressing erroneous views of historic events any more than I support shutting people up with mob violence.

 

Unfortunately Jesus Christ or anyone like him is never on the ballot.

Newsflash...I went to grammar school in the 60s. We never prayed in school.

WHy would we? School is for learning. Church os for prayer
