Why not? It's only feasible that when you can't expand outwards, up or down are the only other logical answers. They don't necessarily have to invade another country for room.

    I voted North America.

They already have 3 trillion US dollars laying around, getting more every day, and soon the currency will be worthless everywhere except the USA.

The Chinese have migrated everywhere, and they are very good capitalists whereever they go. Only in the homeland do they live oppressed by the Communist regime. They are overdue for a counter-revolution and its only a matter of time.

Good argument. China simply has to demand land as a repayment.

As far as I can tell, China wields more influence in Australia than in most other countries. Australia is also one of the more desirable places to live because of their economic growth, fiscal responsibility, and picturesque beaches.

Australia also has a small population but plenty of land.

How about Southeast Asia? China has been influential in the region for centuries. Although SE Asia is already heavily populated, it will be a target for Chinese imperialism.

And then there's the whole Pacific region - will the Pacific Ocean become a Chinese pond?

Mmmmm............China will make no attempt to move its vast army over any water and allow the ships carrying its nations to be destroyed and the water doing the work for the western forces.

Rather it will take over the nations surrounding it, Laos, French Indo-China, etc.

Taiwan would need to be the first to fall.....removing the US forces in close proximity of China its self. Then South Korea!

Why else is America attempting to create a wedge between Pakistan and India? Bombing Pakistan in the process and paying Pakistani officials for the privilege!

I was looking at it more from an immigration standpoint. Australia has tightened some of its immigration policies in recent years, but overall, I would think a lot of Chinese would rather live in Australia than in many other areas.

Russia would be the easiest of the areas on the list to immigrate to, but the standard of living is far higher in Australia.

America isn't creating a wedge between Pakistan and India. A wedge has existed between them for decades now. Pakistan is the sort of place that the British never should have left. They were better off with British rule, compared to what their nation has become now. At least India has made progress.

Britain should have just vacated what would become modern day India while holding onto the part that would become Pakistan. Granted, they left partly because it wasn't worth the costs of staying.

I agree....but we now live in the realms of 7 billion people....every 12 years another billion is to be added to the population of the earth.

History teaches nothing other than when the human population grows in this manner (as never before) the human nature of man takes over the food crisis and is resolved in war.

I agree. Australia has got to be in their sights. By far the softest western target, that could be cut off from the rest with ease.

I think India is pretty powerful in its own right. We see them as an ally more than as a tool.

Unfortunately, we're trying to be allies with both them and Pakistan, which is not very practical. Pakistan isn't worth being friends with.

Ummm.... we have that because of the way we govern ourselves. Being invaded sort of changes that.

Not all of the land is inhabitable, let alone, hospitable. Furthermore, a lot of our natural resources are not enough to sustain the population we already have.

I don't know about the "desperation" aspect, but Russia is the obvious answer in my estimation...
