Hi there. I am relatively new to politics. The thing is, it seems like such a no brainer to me when you break it down. If you can convince me to vote differently, I will vote differently. I welcome your opinions, but I won't respond to rude comments. You have to be mature to handle politics in my opinion.

The most prodominant feature of most republicans is that they take a "your stupid" appoach to nearly everything. I rarely hear idea's from them, but rather "Obama is stupid because of _____". Even now when they are debating each other it sounds like two children pointing and saying, "your stupid".

It seems to me like the Republicans are almost HIRED by the private sector to help them get more rich. When I actually DO hear about a plan it seems to consist of helping the rich get more rich. Their theory behind this is that they can create more jobs with the money. But ever since Bush was in office and cut taxes on outsourcing, and cut taxes on the rich....the rich have gotten more rich, yet the employment rate went way down.

Republicans also use scare tactics to lure casual voters. Bush times were, "Vote for me or the democrats will take your guns". Then it was, "Obama is a terrorist in disguise" and even "OBAMA IS THE ANTI-CHRIST, IF YOU VOTE FOR HIM THE WORLD WILL END!"....wow. This year it will be and already is, "If you vote Obama all of your tax money goes to people who don't deserve it" They swapped to this after the, "Obama is why this country is doing so badly". This failed instantly since it was easy to disprove.

What is the Republican plan? How is America going to benefit by voting republican? The last time American voted because of a scare tactic we ended up with Bush!

Democrats seem to have good intentions. Help those who have fallen on their worst times. The problem with this is that it is too easy to abuse government assistance. We all know it, we all see it. I compair this to what I call the "Vending machine idea". At work we had a vending machine that had cold sandwiches. Someone found a flaw in the machine and started breaking into it stealing sandwiches. Our company got rid of the machine to stop the abuse. Why wasn't there a different option such as fixing it. Why do all of us have to suffer because one person abused his privelage?

Obama wants to stop the tax break on outsourcing jobs. Why was that tax break there to begin with! Outsourcing obviously takes away American work and making it cheaper to do is like patting the private sector on the back for laying off Americans.

Democrats want more programs. I think that we need to stick with the ones we have and work on making them functional before creating more.

Democrat idea's I disprove of are only two that I am aware of. Forcing a catholic hospital to perform abortions just blows my mind, bad idea...And forcing Obamacare on everyone is a bad idea, though I'm not completely informed on it yet.

I believe capitol gains taxes should be higher. It is money that wasn't worked for. I have worked with many men that are struggling to pay bills because of child support. They try to work overtime but in return get taxed more. So why should working harder tax you more than not working at all?

I believe in the right to bear arms, but not fully automatic ones lol. I can think of NO reason to own a fully automatic gun except for fear or intimidation.

I believe in Ron Pauls views on foreign policy and wonder why Obama didn't use it. Yet I believe the only way to do this is to bring them back slowly like Obama is doing.

    So, at this point my voting opinion goes like this;
    60% Obama
    40% Paul

If your looking for a party that is doing everything correctly you might as well not vote. When you do vote your basically voting for a general direction you would like to see the country move in, not really for any specific policies.

If you prefer a bigger safety net if you fall on hard times and are willing to sacrifice some of your freedoms and independence than vote democrat. If you want more personal freedom and a chance to succeed or fail on your own merits with a minimal safety net than vote republican.

Always weigh each bit of information you get carefully and always be sure to research on your own. Don't take the Media, Debates, etc try to influence you.

Most of the candidates should have information on their websites that detail how they intend to enforce their plans.

Look at the person's overall political and personal history. Weigh the pros and cons of each

Determine what YOU feel would make that candidate the best selection for the job.

From the sounds of it you are taking steps to inform yourself properly...and that is a good thing. With more research, you will be able to find a candidate that aligns with your views as to what they can help you with as well as help our Country with.

You sound as confused as a Black Catholic in a voting booth.

You say you lean towards Obama but hated Bush? In my mind they are one in the same, or did you not notice my avatar?

Both spend us into the ground, both start and continue wars abroad, both embrace the nanny state via huge entitlements, both ignore illegal immigration etc etc. I could go on but why? If not, where is the change? Anyone?

I noticed you like Ron Paul as well. Now if you really want a change, vote for him.

I fell on hard times. I had triplets. My daughter has a large number of medical conditions. I am very greatful that I live in a country that allowed me to quit my job and take care of them. I am currently working on walking and talking with my daughter at the age of 2. A daycare would not have this kind of one on one attention and she probably wouldn't even be crawling.

I have seen less freedom from things like the patriot act...but how exactly do democrats provide less freedom? Because of taxes?

Bush sent this country into the ground. Obama can't just change things at the drop of a time, the damage was already done. When is the last time you saw a graph that went from 100% - to 100%+. Noticing that the republicans are sabotaging anything he tries to do to keep him from making the changes and making democrats look good is step one. Step two is letting the changes happen.

None. Vote a third party that is closest to your ideology.

They provide less freedom by more government regulation in things such as the healthcare bill and entitlement progams. Higher taxes to pay for their programs and things like that. You bring up the patriot act but i'm sure you have not seen one of your freedoms lost as you claim.

Democrats are more likely to offer you support for your children that's true but it also comes with strings attached like them setting rule you must follow in order to receive this help. The conservative viewpoint, though not always followed, is to put more money in your pocket and let you figure out the best way to take care of your children without help from the government.

That is basically the difference between the two ideology's. I am very conservative but I have no problem with people in your position feeling that the democratic party can support them better. Nothing wrong with that at all. At the end of the day you must do what you feel is best for your family.

Myself I would prefer to take all these government programs away, give me more money and let me plan for my own family's the future the way I want. Some people prefer to let the government take their money and provide them with medicare and social security. The choice is ultimately yours.

You and the guy before have no doubt been in politics longer than me. But that may not be such a good thing. Saying that I shouldn't be able to vote because I don't agree with everything one party says isn't right. It is what is wrong with congress today. Keeping an open mind is the only real way to make an informed decision.

As the first guy said. Balance your beliefs to make the informed decision. It is leaning toward Obama for me.

Thanks for valuing my opinion. I value yours as well. Yes you must follow rules to get the assistance needed. Rules regulate who can get this relief. The patriot act covers things such as phone tapping, and no..I can't see phone tapping.

Looks as if it's pretty easy. Once a republican is asked to change a democratic voters mind on who to vote for without being rude or bashing the president....it gets quiet fast. A consistant fact.

Check your portfolio and your bank accounts. If they're full, you should vote republican. If the inverse is the case, then voting opposite of republican (democratic) would be in order. It's really that simple.

So you don't mind reduced governmental revenue. Whenever we've reduced the capital gains tax rate, we've gotten more governmental revenue.

So in other words, you really didn't want an honest discussion, you just wanted to put out your views and "seem objective."

Bush tried to stop the real estate bust (one of the major, but not only factors that caused the recession) on several occasions, starting in 2001 in his FY02 budget. He did it again in 2002 in a letter to the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight. Again in 2004, he tried to reign in Fannie Mae. His Treasury secretary again did the same in 2005. Bush tried to fix things. He, too was stopped by Congress (and I don't just blame the dems in Congress for it). Obama is trying to restructure this country to resemble a European welfare state. He isn't noticing that they are in worse shape than we are.

Again, showing your true colors. You only pretended objectivity, when your true reason for posting was bashing Republicans. Nice attempt.

If you aren't sure, maybe you shouldn't vote.

There is nothing wrong with not voting. Leave voting to people who are well informed.

Well, now more seriously. If you believe in the system, thing that I don't do. And you believe that Democrats or Republicans can satisfy your ideas then vote one of them.

But according to you, you are more leaning to the liberalism, it is Obama. But as you should have checked the real difference between Republicans and Democrats is none. They govern for the lobbies, not the people. And these lobbies are big corporations, banks, in conclusion, for what is called today the markets.

Don't expect really different policies between Republicans and Democrats. However if you are sure that you should vote Democrats because are the ones closer to your ideology then vote them.

But, I would seriously recommend you that before to take this decission look for other options, even if they are really minoritary. And you think that you are wasting your vote. Sometimes you need to think more in the future, and the system needs some renewal. The bipartidism is too strong.

You also should have observed that the system is purely turnist. 8 years Republicans - 8 years Democrats... It is not a real democracy, it is what in Spain we called Liberalism, and is a really corrupt system. As we can have seen in many things how works in USA we can observe that there is some corruption.

Then for all this my answer of none and you should search for a party closer to your ideology.

Then if USA already has about a 60% of abstention, following your principle the abstention would rise to 80-90% :-D Between the people that are doubting and the people that don't support this system just politicians and their families would vote.

Sooner or later people are going to have to decide whether they want more or less government. Always dealing with problems by the knee-jerk proposals of more government programs is an unsustainable political mechanism. As long as you decide that more government is still the key to the nation's future, vote for Democrats. That will probably be a given for the foreseeable future. Should you decide that more government is becoming increasingly contrary to our nation's health and not producing real solutions, you're probably in trouble if you're looking for leadership that will address that situation. Voting for a Republican may or may not not contribute to the desired taming of the beast. A Bush (and maybe a Romney?) talk the limited government talk but when it comes to actually taking on Leviathan in an intelligently designed manner... don't hold your breath.

Unfortunatly it isn’t a no brainer as you put it. The times we live in are very troublesome, and in my lifetime I have never seen such economic turmoil at all. While this election isn’t so easy neither are the decisions that our “leaders” have to make. We need to get this right or our future isn’t going to be nearly as bright as those who have lived here before us.

Agreed totally. While I am not a Republican, but rather a moderate Democrat I feel the “rabid” side from both are out there and no where can they meet in the middle. This is unfortunate because I am sure there are real solutions from both sides, but since everything is so partisian, we will never hear of them. It is time for a real leader to come up, and I am not sure there is one during this election cycle, I might be wrong but haven’t seen one yet.

I don’t think they are “Hired” by any means, but rather the more “clean” candidates because of their history. I find it funny that those of character come from the private sector, but I guess it doesn’t surprise me. What I have heard from the list of candidate (excluding Paul) is to repeal Obamacare. That is the only consistant message. No issue about cutting spending on an over bloated burocrocy but rather just focusing on one piece of legislation. Kind of sad. Not much hint of reducing the federal work force, not any hint of getting rid of the red tape or overstaffing, just nothing that I can take a real bite off.

Yes scare tactics are the name of the game I guess, but we all have to read between the lines. The same was said of Bush by the Democrats using scare verbage. I feel most of what they say when running for office will never happen, and they know it , and also know most wont hold them accountable for their words, sad.

I look at it this way. Obama had a whole list of issues he tried to deal with. He said he would allow this government to be the most transparent government in history. He failed that one. He stated that he would post new bills proposed on line for those of us to view them for a week or so, he failed that. All of his economic policies have not worked as he has planned at all. He floats one thing out there and does something different, not sure why but he has. He truly is Chicago politics at its most obvious position for those who know Chicago politics. He has done very little to help the “average Joe”.
The Obama intention sounds good, but again it is very wasteful at best. He is not a good manager but rather a good speaker without the ability to see it through. He has had some capable people, but they leave. Daley is the last example, yet he continues to endorse those who make HUGE mistakes like Holder. We need to find an administration who can be compassionate, yet responsible. We have yet to have one of those.

I totally agree with the tax break on outsourcing, but I am not sure that break exists, I really haven’t looked for it. We need an administration who would encourage growth, in both financial and jobs. Make this country not be afraid to use the word profit, and make sure if you do something to hurt others you are held accountable.

Dick Durban is probably the worst one on this level, and it is quite unnerving. Instead of saving a program we need to see if the program is working, if it isn’t either fix it or nix it!

While I understand many don’t like abortions (I am one) I also understand that it is a medical procedure and if you are in the business of medicine then that should include that. If the Catholic hospital doesn’t want to do so, then don’t do any procedure at all. Stop hiding behind the Catholic church. The Catholic health care system alone needs fixing, and they shout it loud and clear they are non for profit Bullpucky!

You and I disagree on this. Capital gain taxes have already been paid for. First if you get if from stock, that company has paid taxes, secondly if you buy stock from after tax money, that money has been taxed. It should not be higher at all. Nothing more than a bigger tax on money that was already taxed, so I say it is double to triple tax.

    Agreed

Because Ron Paul’s view on foreign policy is the same one that caused WWI, and history will repeat itself if we allow it. No we don’t need to be the worlds police, but we need to be clear what is in our nation’s interest.

Obama if you will, will create more of what we have. A no action congress, a non budget nation since they can’t agree with a total budget and keep going on CR’s.
A vote for Paul will get you no where at all. Paul want’s to be able to somehow change part of the GOP platform, and to put the Feds on notice. For that I don’t blame him at all.
