I'll agree that eating dogs is disgusting but I need someone to explain to me how it is really any worse than eating cute little lambs or highly intelligent pigs.

Lambs and pigs are not our friends and allies. Dogs are.

    Regional and cultural differences.
Some Chinese see dogs as merely food in the same way you see lambs and pigs as animals fit only for the table.

There are a lot of Chinese people who resent the CCP as much as the rest of the world

And the Earth does not have unlimited resources to feed an unlimited number of people. We are going to pass the balance point sooner than later.

I understand, but I think seeing all those Dogs bundled into that Wire cage being brought to Market and being sold for Dinner is tough to see. It's just disgusting, if you want a real Treat, Chinese eat LIVE Mice babies dipped in Soy Sauce.

Really do we hang pigs in nets over chickens over goats in hot temps? Do we let each animal piss and **** on each other?

Do we skin or boil alive said animals in front of the other animals?

Do you see the difference yet?

I absolutely agree with that and I've mentioned that exact same thing. Sooner or Later, the Earth is going to Hit back, maybe this is what Virus's are meant for.

How would you feel if it was cute little lambs bundled into a net like that?

So it is the barbaric practices rather than the species which upsets you?
You'll get no argument from me there.

There are animals for food and there are animals that are domesticated pets. However, even animals that are to be food shouldn't be treated like that and humanely killed. I don't want any animals to be abused in their lives for nothing and that goes for pigs and lambs as well, but I absolutely am a dog lover and seeing that picture literally tore out my heart.

Again that is a regional difference. Some cultures do see dogs as a meat species in the same way others see horses as dinner.
I prefer cats to dogs but I try to love all creatures.
Some people keep rabbits as pets and even pigs are pets to some.
In the words of George Bernard Shaw...

Same here but neither of us are Chinese.
If you want to rant about the way animals are treated in China I'm with you all the way but as someone who hasn't eaten anything with a face for 35 years the differentiating between one species or another seems a bit arbitrary.
I don't even object to other people eating animals if they are treated well and dispatched humanely (the animals, not the people) but the intensive farming techniques of the west can be every bit as unpleasant as those in China.
So I'm still not convinced that a Chinaman eating dogs is really significantly worse than an American eating pigs.

    from your link:
"Last week, Sens. Cory Booker, Lindsey Graham and more than 60 congressional lawmakers called on the WHO to ban and permanently close all wet markets globally amid the coronavirus pandemic."

WHO have not got the power to do that. Perhaps the US could start by banning the 80 wet markets in New York first? What would your reaction be if WHO banned wet markets in New York?

And where is the quote from WHO supporting China opening up wet Markets. All I see is this:
“wet markets and other food markets do not need to be closed down,” but noted they should be prohibited from selling illegal wildlife for food and authorities should enforce food safety and hygiene regulations. "COVID-19 has reminded us of the need to ensure that our food markets are well managed and regulated and provide an environment where people can safely trade and buy safe food products being it live, raw or processed,”
    Do you disagree with this?

IOW, the Chinese ignore the obvious: "Lambs and pigs are not our friends and allies. Dogs are."

Some cultures regard human beings as "food" "for the table".

Pets are not "friends". Just ask PETA. Dogs are friends and allies that human beings work with and often depend on for their lives and safety. The difference should be obvious.

Cats are great pets. Dogs are "mans' best friends". All human beings should have figured that out from experience or reading the news.

Never heard of a truffle pig? There are many animals that humans work with.
Horses for courses ('scuse the pun). Either you accept that eating animals is OK or you don't. The species is not what draws the line but rather it's a matter of regional or cultural differences.
To a Hindu a cow is not a food species it is a sacred beast.
To a Frenchman, a horse can be either something he rides or eats.

So what might be obvious to you is not necessarily obvious to someone else.

Human beings can become very attached to pets and animals that work for them, but none of them come close to the relationship that exist between humans and dogs. The difference is obvious. Surely you know that.
