    hard to pick one...

Duane Alman, Toy Caldwell, Jimi, Stevie Ray, Page, Chet, Butch Trucks...Santana...those are the ones I listen to a lot. You have to put Keith Richards in there too, hard to beat his riffs.

I'm a bit old fashion about guitarists, my preferred one is Carlos Santana.

Acoustic and electric basses. I'm more comfortable on Acoustic.

One of my favorite bass players is Charlie Haden. I don't cry often when musicians pass away, but I cried when he passed. A huge loss in the jazz community.

I saw this tour. As was his style he played the upcoming album
before it was released. It was the summer of '73.

Slash would be my favorite, just due to smoothness and style.

I've not been a huge fan of his over the years, in as much as I've always thought him to be a little overrated compared with what he's actually been doing. I've thought of him as a really solidly good guitarist rather than a great guitarist who is doing something particularly devastating or original. He has gone up in my estimation considerably recently, for two reasons. Firstly, and most importantly, I think he has actually improved and expanded his playing considerably in recent years. Secondly, and much less importantly in terms of him specifically, the music he is playing is improved massively by working with a great singer and great band, which, IMO, he wasn't doing in the past (either with G&R or VR).

For me, this completely blows away anything he did with his previous bands:

Everybody knows guitarists and singers are just for show. Musical "costumes" basically.

Percussion and bass make the music.

Rory was always the showman, but Gerry McAvoy on bass supplied the foundations( while in "rock god" stance...!) He even solo's a little at about 5 mins..

They may make the rhythm.....but are just a part of the music.

Definitely up on my list as well, for this reason:

One of the best solos ever, IMO.

    No actually.

And my post was just a joke, but I realize after spending decades in the industry that guitarists are... quirky, among other things.
