Catholics are persecuted if they don't stay in their little Catholic closet like many in society think they should

If they evanglize, they are persecuted like crazy... much hate is directed @ them...

Christians (so called) become monsters as soon as they find out you are a devout Catholic...

Because evangelizing is annoying, especially to the non-religious. There's a reason why everybody knocks on the Witnesses.

 

I'm not talking about annoying kinds of evangelizing

i am talking about sharing all the good things about the Church so others can have them also

Rather subjective in my opinion.

I have nothing against Catholics, I have nothing against Christianity, my gripe is against the hypocrisy of most Christians. If you mean by "evangelize" to preaching to those who are not interest... than ya, I have a big problem with that. But if to evangelize is to minister to those open to the word of God... then kool, knock your socks off.

One day I ran into an old friend that I had not seen in years. Within minutes the talk turned to his conversion to Christianity... which is kool and I was happy for him. But he just could not get off the topic... and worse he kept trying to "save" me. I would politely thank him for the offer and change the subject... he would spend a few seconds on the new subject then go right back to Christ and how I need to be Christian. This is case in point why people dislike Christians in their barracuda stage (evangelize stage), because they just cannot take no for an answer. Christians like that do more to push people away from the Church than towards the Church.

As for my old friend... haven't seen him in many years. Seems to be his friend you have to be Christian... how sad.

 

"Good things" are subjective and if others don't want your "good things" then it is just annoying and rude to push the topic.

They are annoying because they tend to ignore the evil things the Church does.

 

When you stop persecuting others with your bullshat then maybe you'll stop being persecuted yourself.

I used your word, persecution, but I think it's funny how if someone doesn't want to hear your carp and tells you so you're being "persecuted".

I hate hearing that carp because IMO many of the mouthy saved and devout christians I've known are the biggest hypocrites.

To many people in the West, "persecution" means "somebody wrote something mean about me in the editorial column".

 

There always has been angst against Catholics since the reformation. And please also remember Catholics have never been shy over persecuting others when the opportunity arises.

 

Yeah there is always the element of perspective. In periods of history the level of persecution of Catholics has been pretty intense. To compare those times to anything we encounter today in the Western World is flawed thinking at best.

 

Proverbs 29:27 The righteous detest the dishonest; the wicked detest the upright.

Matthew 10:22 You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."


It is not just the destiny of the faithful but our privlage to be hated for Christ. Have we suffered as He has? No I do not believe so, not yet.

There is no point in talking to non-Catholics. Mention you are a Catholic, and they start cracking jokes about pedophile priests. I smile at them, and imagine myself cracking them over the head with a lugwrench.

I think you have a persecution complex, though. I don't see Catholics being persecuted, but your church is an evil pedophile enabling corporation that should be crushed. I wish there WAS some real persecution of people who fund a pedophile ring.

Well, if hearing about what a disgusting pedophile infested organization you're part of drives you to thoughts of violence (how Christ like), and you say there's no point in talking to us, then why don't you just stop? I think we'll all be better off.
