Yeah! Like those right wing spinners at CNN! ;-)

CNN — Facing pressure from thousands of constituents calling to defund the police, New York City slashed $1 billion from the police budget. But some city lawmakers – and the protesters calling for change – think the cuts weren’t sweeping enough.”

    Yeah, he's real popular.

Folks love their CongressCritter and think the rest are bums or crooks.

As for the news being the truth... it's infotainment emphasizing conflict, not truth. How many times have we heard lately how important the 2022 election is?

People voted in a law-and-order former NYC cop.

IOW, you agree that the news media does not tell the truth.
    IOW, MSM = Fake News.

538 is a notoriously biased unreliable source. Surely you know that. Trump is the only politician with significant national support.

Ordinary Americans have even more contempt for Congress than for the MSM.

Is that supposed to contradict something from my posts?

You didn't read the post. He didn't say they were democrats. He said democrats should have prevented them from entering the capitol. I think his post is just as nonsensical as yours by the way.

All of it, especially including the stuff on the hard right and hard left, is created and tailored for an audience.

Take the third (fourth and fifth) rails in American politics: abortion, guns and drugs. You're not going to stop any of these with gun-grabbing, laws banning abortion or "wars on drugs." I'm willing to give odds that guns, abortion, and drugs will all be with us ten years from now. The media stokes the conflict because upset people stay tuned in.

I bet most people could get behind respecting women's rights, honoring the second amendment, and perhaps ending the illegal drug market by making a safe supply available to addicts. When they come for their safe supply, we have an opportunity to talk to them and offer help.

Guns? We have laws against using guns to aggress on people. Let's enforce them. Use your weapons to attack other people? You lose your right to possess those weapons. Guns should be radioactive for felons. Law-abiding gun owners don't need to register their weapons.

Why isn't the news media acting like they understand what I just said? I have no trouble arguing for ending the very expensive "war on drugs," and pointing out the utter futility of trying to ban abortion or take guns away from people. We could have social peace in this country if we all learned to mind our own business.
You're dreaming if you think Trump isn't disliked by a strong majority of Americans. The polling is pretty consistent.
There are too many misguided missiles among "ordinary Americans." I wish more of them understood how the economy works and our options to remedy this...

    55429C6C-8CA6-4FB5-931C-C6E1853BEB8C.jpeg

Workers are not sharing in the wealth generated by the economy. Older workers with outdated skills typically have lower real incomes they had years ago.

There are a lot of workers in their 40s struggling to meet the physical and mental requirements of the work they do. Computer skills need to be upgraded continuously for many positions. Not computer literate? See ya. It's really easy to end up surplus.

Fifty years old? Train you for a job you might do for just another ten years? I think I'd rather train someone ten years younger and have them for 20 years even if I have to pay them more.

Many people who dislike Trump will vote for him as the best alternative. He is the only politician with a a large populist movement behind him.
Trump is now calling for government to give the parents and guardians of children the funds needed to educate their children wherever they choose.
So far his "plan" is not specific enough to gain traction.

IMO, all of your ideas for significant political reform would. generate broad bipartisan support. IOW, the RP/DP bosses will not consider them.
Trump might embrace several of them -- if he ever really thought about it.

Trump pushed vouchers in 2016. He's done nothing. He couldn't have done more to bury vouchers than he did by appointing DeVos as Secretary.
They won't unless they're pushed hard.
    He used to be pro-choice.

No category in the 2021 survey wants to defund the police.

    7FD988D6-6658-4E39-881E-505BBD3332A7.jpeg

Only 23% of black people and 16% of Hispanics want to cut police budgets.

Dallas police chief says ‘we’re asking cops to do too much in this country’

DALLAS — The police chief here said Monday he feels that law enforcement officers across the country are being asked to take on too much, comments that came as his department was still investigating the mass shooting of Dallas police officers last week and protesters in other cities continued demonstrations against how officers use force.

Even as the Dallas police worked to sift through massive amounts of evidence from the shooting rampage that killed five officers — an effort that entails watching hundreds of hours of videos and conducting scores of interviews — David Brown, the Dallas police chief, said he believes officers in his city and nationwide are under too much strain.

“We’re asking cops to do too much in this country,” Brown said at a briefing Monday. “We are. Every societal failure, we put it off on the cops to solve. Not enough mental health funding, let the cops handle it. … Here in Dallas we got a loose dog problem; let’s have the cops chase loose dogs. Schools fail, let’s give it to the cops. … That’s too much to ask. Policing was never meant to solve all those problems.”

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...lice-shootings-as-debate-rages-over-policing/

Cops understand public safety would benefit from a reallocation of funds, which is what the misnamed "defund the police" idea is all about.

if he is a traitor, and a Democrat, then he wouldn't have had them on standby.

Which would make January 6th completely done by democrats.

I bet you thought no one would notice that you changed your assertion from "no one" to "no category". I'll wait here while you run from your previous assertion, to see where you land when you stop.

Just so I know what we're posting about here, who actually suggested defunding the police, to what extent, and for what purpose?

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

Even high school students wouldn't assume "no one" means literally no one in a country of 332m people.

Trump cant dispatch the guard without a request from locals. He let both the DC and Capitol Police know in the week before 1/6 that Trump had authorized the use of 16,000 troops for security if requested, Both DC and the Capitol Police turned them down. Capitol Police are under the control of Pelosi as House Speaker. They thought that would look bad. But then after 1/6 I guess they thought it looked so good they put up a wall and stationed the troops there.

Even high school students wouldn't assume 10s of millions of people qualifies as "no one" .
And opinion polls on this topic seem kind of irrelevant when we have cities across the nation who responded to the demands of rioters and politicians to defund the police, by cuts to the funding for police.
