If you want an insane murder rate with constant attacks on young people, keep playing cowboys. If not, grow up! Obviously, as with so many other issues, you live under mob law organised by those who benefit from you silliness.

Actually, they're playing chicago gangstas with those sideways held guns. Keep doing that gangsta-idiot. Gives me those precious few seconds to aim small while you're shooting all over the place.

Uh, you just declared that it's better to be murdered than mugged...I would think it would be the opposite...but what do I know? If you had a choie to be murdered or mugged, which would you chose? Murdered because it meant you lived in a country with less restrictive gun laws? Talk about dying for your ideals, but that is insane.

This is entirely untrue. The individual does not trump the nation. The constitution expressly opposes that. The rights enumerated in the constitution were not designed to trump the collective good at all. That's why murder is against the law, because despite being able to bear arms for mutual defense, you were not allowed to bear arms to take your neighbors house because it is for your sovereign good. Your conclusion is utterly wrong on this matter. The 2nd amendment specifies that even gun ownership was actually for the common good. I mean not if you ask Scalia or Roberts or Thomas or Alito or Kennedy, but most everyone else agrees that the first part of that sentence matters. Even George Washington put down a rebellion based on taxes for the common good of the nation. Thomas Jefferson sacrificed his ideals of limited government powers with the Lousiana Purchase for the good of the nation.

Well, he's right. There is less vilent crime in the UK.

    http://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/2012/tables/12s0306.pdf

You have to divide these numbers by 100 to make them compariable on a per 1,000 basis. Or multiply the ones below by 100.

    http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/taxonomy/index.html?nscl=Crime+in+England+and+Wales

It's the xcel file from the crime statistics recorded table. The year is more recent than the US, but the I couldn't find more recent US figures that quickly. They haven't changed drastically since 2009 and they would have to change quite drastically to get below the robbery stats in the UK.

People fear guns because they kill lots of people in a relatively short period of time. But that's not the real question we should concern ourselves with.

The real question is why do you feel so unsafe in a country that despite its relatively higher crime rates than other western nations, is still quite safe? If you aren't afraid of guns, what are you afraid of?

Why do you equate being prepared to fear? Is it not smart to be prepared?

Your logic is a bit off. Do YOU fear guns or the people who use them? Where would you feel safer, in the worst parts of London and Birmingham, or in an English country village where violent crime is rare? Both areas are under the same law.

Also, would an American feel safer in an urban wasteland in Chicago, Stockton, CA or Washington DC where there are stricter gun control laws, or in the more peaceful areas of the nation with more legal gun owners and fewer gun control laws? Most rural areas of the the US are just as safe as the same places in Britain and Western Europe. Guns clearly are not the problem with crime.

You may cherry-pick your crime statistics, but overall, the UK has about the highest crime rate in the EU. There are more homicides and violent crime in the UK than in Switzerland, which is flooded with guns. All modern guns sold in the US are safe for their users. There are no bad guns, only bad people.

Violent crime has almost doubled in the last decade in the UK but they have always had less violent crime. It is cultural just like 50% of gun crime in the US is in the black community.

Simple minds are easily led. It`s easy to convince a feeble mind that if you take all firearms off responsible people, criminals will become choir boys.

The use of nuclear weapons is a deterrent against aggressive acts against the US and its interests.

cuz their silly frightful things that are afraid of death beyond reason.

vote. for an amendment to make abortion rights and the second amendment the same amendment and immune from further change. they're both ridiculously annoying issues and no one is going to change either of them without a fight anyway. letÂ’s stop fighting about it.
