There is overwhelming evidence to support that the historical Jesus lived. Roman documents mentioned the Greek name of Jesus and well as early Christianity, as did many early authors both secular and religious. It's unvalidated prattle such as yours that fools the most gullible of people and I truly hope you reap what you so falsely sow. Next time try providing something instead of your IMO worthless speculations and opinion otherwise known as evidence.

Wild gesticulation and denials aren't particularly effective, btw.

Atrocious madness as befits your insane tyrant of a god. Wait... were you trying to show otherwise? lol

Matt 5:17: ""Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."

In addition, all the verses I posted were NT, not OT examples of your god's cruel intentions.

    Eh... what? This is amusing.

I recall accounts of bomber pilots speaking of napalm explosions being beautiful...

    Repetition isn't rebuttal, woobie.

My what, where? Are you feeling ok? You're not making any sense.

There is nothing 'good' in your genocidal deity... so why wouldn't one hate such an alien this as your god? (assuming he existed)

As demons haven't been shown to exist (or demonstrated as being bad), such acts described are indeed signs of Christ's utter madness.

Perhaps they deserved such... they're not human, after all.

Less, as we're talking about characters and events written in a book of folklore.

More madness: "Choose the genocidal alien freak in the sky over your own kin!" lol

Why? Perhaps eternal life with your god is the ultimate torture.

    Wow... nice one. :-D

... of cosmic genocide, don't forget. And note that most Christian sects do not believe these are mere visions, but represent tangible(if not always literal) prophesy.

Oh... and as I provided the source in my original post, I was not plagiarizing anything; your accusation however is indeed libel.

And your god-fellating agenda is also clear. :)

The lesson is, why does God require faith as the scriptures indicate? After all, God either requires it or he does not exist.

Or... the men who wrote the books of the bible simply claim that this god requires faith, when this god might not give a rat's ass whether or not you believe one way or another.

    Lot's of alternative possibilities here.

There are many reasons that God requires faith.

There are nearly infinite possibilities, but only one ultimate truth, that God exists is truth.

    Such as?

Perhaps you might think that God does not want to be bothered with us. But if that is the case he might as well be dead to us.

So you claim, but as yet... have not SHOWN to be the case.

Another possibility: Perhaps there exists a god who's concerned about another planet far away that he created for completely alien reasons, our existence being a mere side-effect of his efforts.

Anyone can make up anything you want... because that's all it is.

    Yep!

    Dead, dead, dead.

Now that triggered something. If you can find it buy a science fiction book called Forever Free by Joe Haldemann (he also wrote Forever War, which is a classic). It deals with that possibility. It is simply fantastic :)

So God is dead? In that case, so will you soon be. Enjoy.

As for my comment about God, I will amend it by adding that an all powerful and all knowing God either requires faith, or he is dead to us.

As for gods more powerful than myself but not all knowing and not all powerful, they are a dime a dozen. Just look around.

    Ofcourse we do.

After all we weren't made in god's image, we created god in our image. Why shouldnt he conduct himself in our way of thinking?

The god the bible speaks of does not exist. Science contradicts many things in the bible, thus proving the bible as fiction as is the god the speaks of.

That doesn’t mean **a** god cannot exist (which HIGHLY improbable).

The jesus christ the bible speaks of is shrouded in more myth and speculation than the real Jesus Christ that Josephus spoke of. Just like Santa Clause is shrouded in more myth and speculation than the real Saint Nicholas.

So no, the jesus christ the bible speaks of does not count.

Also any wack job can claim to be whatever they want to be.

Here is a list of some famous nut-jobs claiming to be jesus christ.

So god is not monipotent and hence not a god. Thanks for proving god does not exist, and hence that is the reason why god cannot show himself.

If God showed Himself to us all tomorrow, that would be the new Year One. From then on, 100% of all people will be regular religious folk- from church goer to priest to pope.

I don't think God wants this- our whole planet turning into a worshipping place for Him. He's got angels on high and all...

As man evolves, so does his god. I see another god a thousand years from now taking over one way or another... The Word needs to be said again to us unbelievers.

So what God wants is to trick men? To decide their salvation almost entirely by accident of birth? If there is only one true God, and one true religion, then God is condemning billions of people to death based almost entirely on where they were born in the world or by who their parents were. A child born to Muslim parents in a Muslim country is very likely to become a Muslim. Just like a Christian child born to Christian parents in a Christian country, is likely to become Christian. It seems to me that it would be unbelievably cruel for God to create a commandment that all people must believe, and then not give them all equal chance to believe. That was especially true before the age of modern technology. If you were born a peasant in 15th century China, it is almost certain you would have lived your whole life without ever hearing a single thing about the God of Abraham, or Jesus, or Muhammad. If that is the true God, and those are his true prophets, that means millions/billions are condemned to eternity in hell for no reason other than being born in the wrong place at the wrong time. Seems terrible to me.

God is more like a Jain, a Hindu who believes all life is sacred and tries to avoid killing things, but we are like the tiny bugs scurrying around on the ground. Why on earth would the Jain stop and pick up a bug and prove he exists.

    SORRY FOR THE BLEATED RESPONSE THE REAL WORLD BECKONED;

First thanks for the kind way you phrased your question. You are one of the few (non-believing) members that I still highly respect at this forum, reciprocation is not required ha ha). Secondly, I could name a few stand alone reasons, but I don't beleive that is what you are for. For example I could direct you to scripture telling us that faith is the most important component etc. I beleive you know all the explanations of why God would not and should not show himself (trust, what is a relationship, indeed, a relationship with the creator of the universe worth if you do not beleive that he exists with all the evidence for his existence, especially compared to nearly none that such a being does NOT exist. I understand why unbelievers have these types of doubts due to the way they perceive the world around them ie (understand reality or construct their paradigm, or model of how the universe works). I have doubted similar things myself, and even still do occasionally, like the wafting of a cosmic fart, my doubts are fleeting and multidimensional. (ha ha)

However, I have answered this question before in technical scientific (theoretical physics) metaphysical and theological terms using analogies and examples with varying degrees of success. So let me try to do this in everyday terms. Ok here goes; Despite what you believe in, it requires faith. Our science is wonderful to the extent of being profound at times, however there will always be unanswered questions of science, so even scientists must take some things on ‘faith’. By faith I mean this the dictionary defination; faith [fayth] (plural faiths) n

    1. belief or trust: belief in, devotion to, or trust in somebody or something, especially without ‘logical proof‘. For future use, notice the definition does not say that ‘logical proof’ is mandatory

Take evolution for example. Many scientist say that evolution is fact. That is really stretching the definition and it truly destroys the scientific method which tells us non scientific peons that scientific theory must be falsifiable! So if anything is a theory its just that! A fact is not falsifiable. What these scientists are hiding behind and are really saying is that some aspects of evolutionary theory have been proven and are factual, what they don’t say is that the theory of evolution is STILL A THEORY. But I am going off on a tanget….

What I am saying is that faith is a requirement for any type of belief in life etc.

Without faith sentient life is impossible.

    Ra’h
