Kindly re-read the OP. I am not calling Denmark, Norway or France "socialist."

    Because it's Socialism;
It only "works" when Communism "works" and that's by force.

You don't see Capitalism or Democracy working with the aid of being forced; can't say Socialism works. ..or that Communism works without it turning into some nightmarish Orwellian police state.

Cuba and the Soviet Union are/were revolutionary socialist governments while Venezuela is a case of democratic socialism gone bad. We should be far more concerned about us possibly falling into the Venezuela trap.

IMO, the best way to avoid the Venezuela trap is for us to make sure our society responds to economic and social imbalances within our longstanding model of switching between centrist political parties.

Currently, we have lower- and middle-classes struggling economically. Their income sources are mostly their labor and the real median wage has increased just 7.5% over the last 41 years.

We should be looking at the best ways to fix this problem instead of resisting solutions or coming up with simplistic answers because we are unable personally to advance more complex and appropriate approaches.

how is it, there had been development and, all of a sudden, none - precisely as the war is won?

Neither unbridled capitalism nor doctrinal socialism works very well. That is why all of the most advanced, democratic nations have pragmatically settled on an integration of both.

If some slavish ideological purist attempted to trash social welfare programs such as Medicare and Social Security in the US, he would be heartily rebuked.

let's sort it out with the notion of communism, though.

communism is when you get as much as you (or some other guy) have produced, no less or more.

and no shifty financial schemes involved whatsoever to help you out.

socialism, on the other hand, will cover you debt to society in case your unable to deliver a product.

this - a tricky thing now, takes resources from outside agencies.

Without markets, we have difficulty allocating resources (land, capital, labor) to production.

If their real wages have gone up, why are they struggling economically?

I think you ought to better define the problem.

We tried your reckless, ideological approach from 1930-33 and damn near lost our free enterprise system.

We also had that system for 150 years from 1776 to 1930 and it resulted in the biggest explosion of economic growth the world had ever seen.

next, let me tell you, how capitalism works.

it draws on imperialism, that is robbing other nations of their resources.

as long as there still are nations to rob - it's doing okay...

the question is: are there any nation's to rob these days?

right... hence talks of socialism etc.

Then why bother talking about Socialism - as your definition of socialism makes Sanders a raging capitalist :)

Hard to know, but China did embrace capitalism for a big chunk of their economy. How much of their success can be attributed to that and how much to the theft of intellectual property is an open question.

    They’re both authoritarian.

One will will beat you down and slowly destroy your soul. The other is pure hell on earth.
