I use wet wipes on some things, and may start using them on other things now. They have just enough alcohol. Also, little-known factoid: you can something like 95% of germs and bacteria off of a surface with just a dry paper towel.

You mean like closing our border from international travel? But that would be "wayciss" and make good sense. Nope, cant do that.

That 1% is horse pucky. No one knows the true death rate yet, because there aren't enough tests to see how many are infected. But hey, let's do some local math: the current number of known infected in the U.S. as of this morning is 500. Deaths here are currently at 22. That's over 4%.

That said, if we had enough tests, it's probable that the 500 number would at least double, making the death rate just over 2%. That bogus 1% would only be true if the number of infected was 2,000+.

I'm still waiting for you to prove that any progressives have been praying for people to die.

The 1% number is what experts are putting forth and everyone that needs a test can get one. We can’t test everyone in America nor should we.

keep telling yourself, my friends, that Trump's political future will not be determined by CV19 and the economic crisis.

You are taking great pains to add emphasis to the deficit in a conversation clearly about the virus.

Taking great pains to highlight what amounts to essentially a non sequitur to the actual conversation, is not typically the domain of those with a winning argument. Just sayin'.

Our president and both of his anticipated political opponents to reelection are all elderly senior citizens as are MANY of our congress and senate

    Agreed!

And the same applies to the electorate who do not have access to the same high level of healthcare as do our elected officials.

I think it's a media hype is designed to try and tank the markets.
This isn't as bad as SARS or MARS I don't know how it compares with swine flu or bird flu or any of the other media panics.

I think it may help Trump if he spins it right. Since the disease can be tracked back to China he can lay it at their door step. They did not cooperate, they hid the severity, blah blah, blah. A nice easy enemy he can blame with plausible culpability. It is exactly what Trump loves, especially since he has chosen China as the bad game since the beginning of his run for president. "China caused this," has a nice easy to regurgitate ring too it.

Except that he isn't doing anything to ease it. That's his failure. Instead of keeping his mouth shuttered, as always he goes to Twitter to post stupid things, and say the wrong things in press conferences that even Pence wouldn't cover.

It will not matter, easing it would actually be counter productive to the enemy scenario. He needs it to be as bad as possible to stoke irrational anger and fear. Or at least that would be ideal if he does what I think he will do.

Not going to work if China ends up with a lower mortality rate because of more effective containment than we have here in our nation.

Why would it? 171 people die each and every day from simply falling down. 1,641 people die each day from Cancer. 401 people die every day from strokes. 152 people die every day from Influenza and pneumonia. 22 total have died from Corona so far and it's some huge problem? Really?

You haven't got started. Italy is already having problems with their hospitals being overwhelmed. They went from 600 to 9172 infected in 10 days and are now shutting down the whole of Italy - not just the North.
