If you are asking if I favor the "dream" immigration proposal. . .I most certainly do.

There are no ILLEGAL person. . . just man made LAWS that criminalize people who are doing what human are suppose to do: thrive for a better life through hard work for themselves and their family.

 

Heh! That's exactly the type of thing that the writer in that Slate article would say, but her actions are just the opposite.

Just like that thread we had a few weeks ago that showed that conservatives have more mixed race families than liberals, it seems there is a big gap in what lefties say in regards to race compared to what they do, particularly where they live, like this woman.

Chris Matthews, who lives in a community whiter than Iceland, constantly calls people racist who live in very mixed communities, so I always expect a certain amount of hypocrisy from you guys on race.

 

well, why stop at the US. Mexico has some of the most severe penalties for illegal immigration. And what about Canada, they don't want the illegals up there either? nope, we have boundaries for reasons.
Our economy is already tanked and some want to add more grief. Regardless of what anyone says, I know that even if they were lawful citizens, why the hell should they work for what they can get or free? Take the free out of it, and they'll go home on their own.
By the way, have you moved two families into your home, feeding them, taking care of their education, medical, unexpected pregnancies, and transportation, bought and paid for by you, personally?

Do you really believe that the US is the ONLY country in the world trying to deal with immigration?

Immigrants have NEVER damaged our economy. . . on the contrary, they are a BIG part of our economy.

It seems that you may need to explore the world a little in order to broaden your knowledge and understanding of issue beyond the US borders!

And. . .No, I haven't taken two families into my home. . .although we have "adopted" two families for several years each while we lived in California. One was a single Mexican mother with two lovely daughters who were living in a tiny trailer where the two girls slept head to toe on the only bench, and the mother slept on a blanket on the floor. We offered the mother to take her and the daughters shopping for Christmas and invited them into our home. We then hired the mother to clean our house, and that of my neighbor, to iron for me, and to babysit for our children. We helped her get into a small one bedroom apartment with her two daughters, and within 6 months, the mother was back in school and the daughter had a decent, warm home. We kept "supporting" her for several years, until she graduated from Junior College, then from the police academy, and she became a police officer. Today one of her daughter is a nurse, and the other is a teacher.

So. . .no, we didn't take that family INTO our home. . .all they needed (with someone believing in them and treating them with respect) was a few good meals in our home, a couple of jobs referrals, and some decent clothes in order to step into a new life.

By the way. . .this woman had been an illegal immigrant, and then married an American, who abandoned her and his two daughters after three years. . .and intimidated her enough by threatening her with deportation that she was too scared to ask for assistance from the authorities!

 

I call BS. They are not contributing to our economy, They are a vast drain. Period. IT is due to the fact that they don't pay income taxes, if they are illegals, they file and pay for wages they haven't earned, then send the money to their families in Mexico. The use up hospital resources like a hole in a sinking ship. They bring gangs and violence to our cities. They deliberately cross the border illegally to have their babies here where they get the same medical treatment you or I get. They don't have insurance, so their bill is not covered by them, it is covered by the rest of us.
They contribute nothing.

They infiltrated my last neighborhood. When I sold and moved out they occupied three square blocks I DO know what I'm talking about. I have witnessed it first hand.
Have you moved two families in and supported them on your own? I seriously doubt it, so you are only spouting the chant, not living your truth. That's called cognitive dissonance.
