If you understood the Constitution, that was what the militia, the Navy, and the Marines, were for. Then too, if we had not funded No. Korea through our build up of China we would not have that problem. Of course, we could have just wiped out No. Korea as MacArthur wanted to do, just as we could have wiped out Russia as Patton wanted to do, or even Baghdad as Schwarskopf wanted to do. This constant state of war that the right wing loves is doing the country no good just as globalism is not.

the intention was that taxes be paid voluntarily because the govt was not supposed to have direct coercive power or even potentially coercive taxing power over individuals. The idea was that govt was evil and should have as little power as possible. If you wanted to avoid taxes all you had to do was not buy the taxed items. But when you did buy them the tax was paid by the foreign importer. Now do you understand?

What I am saying is that the actual number of jobs relative to population didn't grow. So changes in unemployment were entirely due to people giving up and doing something else entirely like going back to school, becoming a housewife, or retiring. By your reasoning jobs should be plentiful and it should be easy to find a job just like the 90s. But today I still know many people who are having a tough time finding a job. The reality is that our job market is still really tight and it is tough for new grads without experience to find a job even many in technical fields.

 

if job market were tight employment would be 80% not 96%. We are at full employment.

Population is in decline, and thanks to Obama we now have 82 straight months of job growth. Why would the unemployment rate increase?

BTW, during Obama's first 6 months in office we saw the stock market increase by 22%. Trumps first 6 months? 8%.
