It is often said by those who are not Christian, that there are many of the same stories attibuted to earlier religions that are found in the Bible. Which to them means, that Christianity borrowed from these. But, this is incorrect.

For we find that in the Bible, God has created the Zodiac, and that from the very begining, He gives the Gospel message of a redeeemer to come from a virgin to deliever salvation and conquer Satan and rule over the world.

It is a very basic message, but a message nonetheless. And a message that all the world had. And all the world, as they turned away from God, held on to these truths, and incorporated them into their belief systems.

What does this mean? It means that the world had the revelation of the true God at first. And the remnants of this revelation, do not prove that Christiaity copied any pagan myths. But, it proves that the world has had the truth of God and rejeted God, and then made it part of pagan beliefs.

The Zodiac. Its not your parents horiscope.

The book of Job is the oldest book in the Bible. It takes place in a time before Israel existed. Possibly before Abraham. There was no written revelation during this period. The only revelation from God was the creation or His speaking directly.

Job is a man of God whom God has tested severely. And though Job never cursed God, as Satan was attempting to make him do, he did bring questions to God. And Jobs friends sought to give him advice concerning God and his recent troubles. Most of which was not applicable.

Towards the end of the book, God intervenes and speaks. Job 38:1-2 "Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?"

Further on God says, 38:31-32 "Cannst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? Knowest thou the oridinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth? "

Mazzaroth is the Zodiac. Pleiades, Orion, and Arcturus are star signs that have to do with the Zodiac. And here in Job 38 God is saying that He is the One who brings about that which these signs indicate, upon the earth.

Astrology is condemned and forbidden by God in the Bible. Because Astrology is not of God. Astology is trying to use the Zodiac and determine an individuals future, which cannot be done.

But the Zodiac was placed there by God, showing the work of redeemption that He was going to accomplish in the earth. It is not necessary today other than to know that it is of God, as we have the complete revelation of God given in the Bible and in God's Son Jesus Christ. But it is interesting as the Zodiac, as prophecy does, pointed towards Jesus Christ.

    funny.

the prophecies that christians use as well the genesis of bible is from another religion.

    Show the scripture

and if jesus did not do that, then we all can see it sure wasnt jesus.

the idiots have to suggest jesus is coming back to even try

But i see that from the OLDER beliefs, the idea that 'god' mated with a human to make a god child can be found even with hercules.

Then i personally see the 'virgin birth' aspect as a sort of prophecy that when the 'time' is correct, that 'women' can have a child and be untouched sexually. ie... we live in 'the time' of test tube babies and women can have children without having sex.
many believe that only jesus can walk on water and i find that anyone can walk on water, if you freeze it first

    funny.........

from noahs ark to the arc of the covenant; the ark story is on the sammarian tablets of enlil being pissed at mankind for being noisy and flooded the earth and the egyptians had arcs before christians had a belief (see king tuts tomb)

the stars were used to identify seasons and the time of year to plant before the abrahamic sects even existed.

ie.... the people who observed the zodiac perhaps created the bible and your god.

pharoah was god to the idiots

    the commands are from egypt

circumcision is an egyptian requisite of the 'god' of the people (pharoah)

moses was born in egypt and raised by the god of the people (pharaoh). Pharoah (god) was talking to moses perhaps every day at dinner.
the job is to sustain truth, not belief

    read the book over
that question is answered by your methodology of posting; based on ignorance

ie..... your post are darkened with ignorance

Meaning; who are you to counsel if you are uneducated?
that means; if you dont comprehend how the universe works, then you have no idea what the f' you are talking about

ie.....that book is suggesting........"..... nature is what you see. If you dont comprehend it, you should not be talking"

show where god forbids astrology when i just read God says, 38:31-32 "Cannst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades.....

god said (per your quote) the 'sweet influences'

    what............

    are you going against jesus

Matt 16;20 Then did he charge his disciples that they may say to no one that he is Jesus the Christ.

    ARE YOU THE ANTI-CHRIST?

you apparently dont believe in jesus :omg:

Most scholars date the book of Job between the 6th and 4th century BCE.

The "Job Motif" in earlier literature comes from Sumer.

Psalms 19:1-6 "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

Here God describes the making of the Zodiac. The forming of the ecliptic line which the sun follows in the course of a year. And as the sun is seen to travel in this line it does so through various star formations which make up the 12 signs of the Zodiac.

Its quite interesting for the Christian to follow this out from begining of the promised seed of the woman in the sign of Virgo, through the Redeemers sacrificial work in the sign of Libra, and so on till the end which is the sign of Leo, the lion, which represents Messiahs triumph over evil.

And, just as Psalms 19 said that God has set in these signs, instead of the Sun, a tabernacle. In other words, the Sun points to something else which travels through these various signs. That tabernacle is a person, One who travels this prophetic line accomplishing those things it speaks of. And that One is Jesus Christ. The Son. John alludes to this in John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,..."

The word 'dwelt' here is 'tabernacle'. Christ tabernacled among us and moved through the various seasons of the redeemption God was accomplishing.

The heavenly Zodiac was and is a Gospel record of Gods work of redeemption.

    Actually I created the Zodiac.

Quantrill, have you ever stopped to think about the fact that many of these concepts actually pre-date Christianity?

And of course a very interesting point here is the well known story of the 'wisemen' who visited Christ at his birth into the human race.

These 'wisemen' came from the east, and were not Jews. They didn't have the written revelation of the Bible. But they did have the revelation given in the Zodiac. And it is no coinsidence that 'wisemen' means 'magi' or those who study the stars.

And what was it they said of Christ, "Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him." Matt. 2:1-2

They were being true to the revelation they had.

    Do I understand you right?
Are you claiming that the fact that somethnig is mentioned in the bible (which I've yet to see the proof there) means that God created it for ancient people... rather than that the writers of the bible chronicled the observation of it?

So are you suggesting that the Sumerian myth that sounds exactly like Noah's Ark was really just that it really happened and the Sumerians forgot about the origins and just wrote their own story.

I wish I could use this logic for copyrights. I could make a fortune!

It doesn't prove that Christianity is the revelation of the true God. Maybe some pagan belief is. Maybe none are.

Or perhaps the history of religion. They are religions far older which are very different from Christianity.

He is taking separate stories and taping them together to make a bigger picture. However, it simply is not working.

God created the heavens. He created the stars. He created the signs in the stars known as the Zodiac. He inspired the writing of the later revelation in Scripture. What is written in Job is inspired by God. The Word of God.

Im not talking about Noahs ark. Im talking about the Zodiac.

The testimony of the Bible is that God created the Zodiac. You can trace the work of redeemption through the Zodiac, parallel it with the work that God has also done with Jesus Christ. The Zodiac pointed to Jesus Christ.

This is the testimony of the Bible.

The stars are not the Zodiac. The Zodiac is a human philosophical construction created by looking at the stars.

Astrological philosophies vary from culture to culture.
And astrology is these days a parlor game, like most "neo-pagan" and "new age" concepts.

Bible, schmible. It's not proof of anything, least your theory that all peoples experienced the same revelation of truth and that only Christians have adhered to it while pagans have abandoned it. That's the bias of the Bible, its writers and believers talking.

It is the testimony of the Bible.

Yes, only Christians at this time are faithful to the revelation God has given.

The Bible says, that is God talking.

    http://postmodernconversations.blogspot.com/2010/08/from-god-to-our-god.html

"Christian hubris is sometimes subtle and sometimes blatant. It is sometimes harmless and other times dangerous. It goes beyond "our" beliefs about God and believes "this" is the way God is to be to the exclusion of other faiths. Hubris is acting as if our ground were the only holy ground on the playing field of divinity. Religious hubris in general leads to intolerance, close mindedness, crusades, inquisitions, witch hunts, genocide, holocausts, etc. In its more benign form it assumes a "live and let live" attitude while secretly knowing we have the truth and they don't."

"Hubris (play /ˈhjuːbrɪs/), also hybris, means extreme haughtiness, pride or arrogance. Hubris often indicates a loss of contact with reality and an overestimation of one's own competence or capabilities, especially when the person exhibiting it is in a position of power."

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubris

I'm not sure you are in a position of power Quantrill, but the rest fits the bill pretty good. you seem quite prideful of your position in this world, because you chose the correct religion, the correct path. From your perch, you can look down at everyone else and tell them how they are incorrect and wrong and will be punished for that.

And here I thought based on some other Christian posters and their posts here it was only Atheists that looked down on individuals of faith, put down their beliefs and held ourselves superior to all others...

    Building a straw man?

I believe and know what the Scriptures say. And, I simply tell what the Scriptures say.

Its dangerous only because it is true.

dangerous for whom? The truth sets you free. Where else a man can find more freedom rather than in the truth of the Bible? What other book? what other education?

Thanks for pointing to few things I have been missing.

This is off topic, but I want to ask Quantrill a question......

If god is all powerful and all knowing, why did he create Lucifer, knowing full well that he would be evil......

In my mind, a god who would knowingly create evil is evil himself...

Yes the truth does set us free. And that truth is certainly found in God and Christ and the revealed Word of God , the Bible. And that is the only place where the truth is found.

When we come to Christ and are born-again, then we are free, though we be slaves to God. We are free though we come under the authority of another, God, instead of Satan and the world. We have the Spirit of God in us and eternal life and Heaven is our destiny.

When we are born-again, we are not only brought into eternal life by the Spirit of God, but we are brought into the arena of the Spiritual warfare that is taking place between God and Satan. We are allowed time to grow and mature spiritually, but are already in the middle of that war at the outset. And we must learn how to function in that war for our survival and to be able to gain ground for the Kingdom of our God.

The Word of God, the Bible, is the sword of God given to us to use in this warfare. Eph.6:17 "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

The more we know and understand the truth as given in the Bible, the more valuable we become as soldiers of Christ in that spiritual warfare. But also, the more dangerous we become towards Satan and his attacks upon the Kingdom of God. Which means the more attention will be brought to bear to come against the truth of God in the Bible. And if you are the holder of much of this truth then you also become a target.

Remember Christ constantly quoted Scripture in His confrontation with Satan. Matt. 4:1-11

    Your quite welcome.

    Quantrill
