Is there any way America can improve its image in the world?

Yes, America, there is a world out there.

It is a world in which America continues to get bad press (yes, there is a press out there too). Generally speaking, until they meet one, OP (other peoples) do not have an entirely unfavourable impression of Americans as individuals.

I have met a few who seemed innocuous enough. Mind you, they weren't armed. At least, I could see no bulges that were not in the right places.

But as a nation, there seems to be something rather undesirable about Americans. I hasten to add that I have met some rather nice Americans. Who wore reasonably muted shirts.

The problem seems to be that America keeps trying to exert its will on OP. Some of this was well-intentioned. Like its intervention in the Rwanda massacres. Oops, wrong example. I meant Kosovo of course.

America likes to play the international policeman. Because it has lots of guns and boats and things. The Syrian people are grateful for that. Oops, I meant the Afghans.

I suspect that America is not employing the right PR agencies. There is nothing more important than making your ghastliest mistakes look like triumphs. The Israelis have that sussed.

But somehow America continues to use glove puppets like Kerry to pretend that there is actually a hand in the puppet. Then there is Obama. An eloquent chap whose eloquence moves the world to be more like the USA he is probably wishing he wasn't president of.

That's not to demean the American people. Most of whom probably don't have a clue what's going on.

We in the West are looking for leadership. Can America deliver?

 

it is a hard thing to do after a President like Bush... the world see the political infighting and nows the country is divided almost 50\50 and we could just as likely elect another bush next election.. they have no way of knowing when the next your either with us or against us president will come along

 

What is the evidence that the US is seen negatively abroad? I know of no country that attracts so many people eager to immigrate, study, invest or work there.

 

I don't care how well Washington looks to the world. Spite them and come to Santa Fe.

Well, Obama the 'messiah' hasn't done squat to improve America's image. He has weakened our standing in the world.

His apology tours, his ingratiating himself to our enemies has not worked. His smooth talk hasn't improved relations. He is seen as a weak leader, and hence, America is not respected.

I think he only regards Fox News as the enemy. If he was as tough on our enemies as he is on Fox News, maybe he'd be seen as having some sort of a backbone.

Reputations and trust, as we know, are easy to lose but nearly impossible to resurrect. I fear America has run out of feet to shoot itself in. Naturally the arrogant 'patriot' will say this criticism is envy, point out how selflessly they rode to our rescue during the last two world wars and how ungrateful we therefore are, and that they don't care what foreigners say anyway while continuing to salute a piece of cloth which evidently has arcane and mystical qualities.

I have no idea since the Royal Family have no bearing on my life whatsoever in any sphere. They exist only to provide ceremonial glitz for tourists to gawp at.
