Is there any way America can improve its image in the world?

Seems Australians are a bit miffed about their ties to the US

I imagine the last thing Australians would want, any more than Germans would want, is to be dragged into yet another of America's wars of "liberty", "freedom", and corporate conquest.

My advice to the Australians is to tell the Yanks to shove off. China has not been known to invade any foreign country since Tibet in the 1950s. And they claim that was Chinese anyway.

 

It also seems that Australia's neighbour, New Zealand, is even less interested in a US alliance.

Guess what? The money always wins.

NZ bans the US navy, allows no US troops to be stationed on its territory (unlike Australia), and has China as its 2nd largest trading partner ahead of the US (and after Australia).

The Yanks need to figure out that they do not have the influence of the erstwhile British Empire. No-one is going to automatically dance to its tune.

Of course the US is trying to change that with the TPPA - a so-called trade pact masking yet another piece of American imperialism. But my guess is that no-one will bite.
