Well whichever way USA dissolves, we remain with Russia and China, not sure if that's a good thing. In this moment we need a big brother who watches over them, otherwise it's war. EU is still far too weak to play that role.

"Need" is not realpolitik. Reality is. Get with the programme.

First of all, Germany does not posess nuclear weapons.
Secondly, the EU is not the same as its member states. The EU is not a country and has no independent and sovereign military capabilities. Militarily it is perfectly meaningless.

    Germany doesn't.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_states_with_nuclear_weapons

After starting 2 World Wars in less than 50 years that cost over 100 million lives, they can't be trusted with a box of strike anywhere matches let alone Nuclear Weapons.

Thanks to GW Bush/Cheney and Shock and Awe, and 911 and building 7 conspiracy, and 200k dead in Iraq, and secret interrogation camps with waterboarding torture, and "The Patriotic Act", the world is rather cynical about USA.

Since BHO signed NDAA 2012 (even thought he said he would not) authorizing drone attacks on any US citizen on the mainland deemed to be a "domestic terrorist, it is doubtful that the worlds cynical view of USA will change. Not much hope of that.

The reality is that the majority of the 9/11 attackers were of Saudi origin, and were financed with Saudi money. Why no sanctions against Saudi Arabia, and why were Saudi nationals whisked out of the USA and flown home when all other flights were grounded immediately after the attacks?
The moment NATO troops leave Afghanistan the Taleban will be back and America, as usual, will have achieved absolutely nothing.

Germany may or may not possess its own nuclear weapons, but it is certainly hosting US nuclear weapons on its soil-as is Belgium and others.

The more I read about America, the more it disgusts me. Read The Divide and wonder why you are not up in arms. The British had nothing on your so-called justice system which, together with your so-called law enforcement, works to keep corporate criiminals and their government mates like Eric Holder in revolting comfort.

Americans seem to be so anesthetised as to be beyond the capacity of life support.

Guys. I am sorry to interrupt a nice chat but could we be a little friendlier, er? The thread is about bad image of America and Belgium with Germany embodied with two nice guys plat a muscle game with US nuclear rockets that bring safety and aiming of russian nuclear rockets (which obviously doesn't add that much safety). And for the moment in Europe we already have several places which are ready to be set on fire quite easily.

Of course american image can get better. For that the US needs to recover a true strength and to start really peaceful initiatives. If they try to start it from a position of military blackmailing it will only hurt. If they start to seek for peace being economically weak - it can get even worse. All the mistakes possible will be done by our politicians. Maybe we chat and look for fresh ideas here? Not interested? Sorry for a try then.

I have a positive suggestion. America should manufacture the stickers with the words "Made in USA" here in the USA again, instead of having them made in China. Then, perhaps later, the boxes on which those stickers will be placed, to fool Americans into believing the item in the box is made in USA... those boxes will be made in USA too.

Finally, the sticker on the item in the box, that says made in China, can be replaced with the stickers printed with the words: "made in USA" so the American removing the item from the box will be at least temporarily satisfied that he has really bought something made in USA. At least until he starts to use the item.

Plenty of reasons. Survival is the first reason. Preservation of peace in the world is the second. All the global problems cannot be solved without a strong and reasonable american state.

As long as people understand me and I understand people - it works fine. Once there is no mutual understanding any knowledge of language is useless. :)

Survival? Do you realise that is a revolutionary notion. Much despised by peabrains and his masters on Wall Street.

Are you a naive fool bent on absurd commonsense?

I believe that every alive being wants to survive. No matter how naive it is. Some years before the Wall Street guys were not at all naive. They conquered financially the whole world, including your nation, who still need to store its gold for a safety reasons on the other side of Atlantics and my nation. So I don't buy that these guys don't know a thing. It never happens that a stupid leader holds a leadership among the smarter guys for a long period of time.
The guys from WallStreet should understand that current policy and economics is not working. And if it all continues it will only get worse.

Revolutionary experience of my nation tells that if the guys at the top are postponing the reforms (like russian nobility did) there kids and themselves would end killed or having a job of a taxi-driver or a prostitute (like russian nobility also did). I don't see any reason why it cannot happen with the Wall Street guys. They are not immune to history.
