When you play the whole video you get far better context. Not a death panel. Not that I agree 100% with Gate's statements here, because I don't but it's not a death panel.

 

Did you seriously ask that question, at least the first part? What did China do wrong? Are you living in a cave?

 

The funny thing is the following:

Gates is basically saying that we have to sacrifice resources spent on people at the very end of life, so we have more resources to help (educate) the next generations.

In essence, this is the same argument the RW is currently making, namely that the ones on their last leg have to be sacrificed to preserve the economy for the younger people.

Partisan politics, however, distorts Gates' argument into "death panels". Well, I guess the RW coronavirus response then is also a "death panel" for the elderly as a whole.

 

Yeah, you make a ton of valid points in this post. It seems to me both LW and RW get extreme about old people...

 

In my book, Gates is a suspect in the group of people who had something to do with this planned event.

 

To borrow from James Madison, the truth is that all men having power should be mistrusted.

 

This event was not planned; it really scares me people actually think that.

 

It neither scares nor surprises me that so many accept without question the pronouncements of their government.

Democrat leaders thought Trump was and still is working with Russia to destroy the country. Democrats also claimed Bush and Cheney started a war just to get richer. They were already rich but they needed more money apparently. Same with Trump. He’s using the position to become more than a semi billionaire. Meanwhile the Obama’s and Clinton’s were ordinary upper class people who become extremely wealthy using the presidency.

They could have been faster at reporting what they had found. But, questions like whether it could be transmitted between humans, how serious it was, etc. were not well know much earlier.

By December 31 the world had been notified that Wuhan had a cluster of pneumonia that was new. Later we learned that it came from a new virus.

By January 12 China had delivered us the virus genome and we knew what they knew.

Subsequently, our response was also incredily slow.

So, what do you want to charge China with?

What's your point? I think we all recognize that China's treatment of its people is detestable.

If you are suggesting we should charge China with something (as proposed by Trump and others), please state what the charge should be.

So far, it seems pretty darn clearn that these "blame China" attempts are just an attempt to deflect from our feckless response to this pandemic - which IS the primary reason it has been so serious here.

 

I opened up with "I don't have an answer to but..." I merely shared that China has been horrendous with my link. My point is China needs to be held accountable too, even as our own government officials dropped the ball--simple and to the point.

 

What do you want to hold them accountable for?

What do you think it means to hold China accountable?

Do you really think that China's acts meaningfully slowed our response - given our current knowledge of the total inepness and delay of our own response and the fact that we're even being led to give up on medical science principles of pandemic response?

 

We need to have increased WHO presence in China, not biased by Chinese pressures, more inspectors, sanctions placed if the wet markets do not forcibly get removed, (not tariffs) more regulation of our businesses there, reduction of our business presence there due to the well documented human rights violations, continued movement towards joint research ventures to develop vacvines and appropriate medications.

Of course we need to increase funding to the CDC, and get back a full pandemic team in the White House. However, two wrongs do not make a right; hold both countries accountable.

Depends upon what you are referring to. I do know Bush/Cheney had prior knowledge of a planned attack, and the FBI ignored the warning signs of student pilots not wanting to learn how to land.

If you mean some conspiracy with a controlled demolition, then that is delusional and non-scientific. It is impossible.
