It would seem that Bill Gates has become the new bogeyman for the right, supplanting Soros as some sort of evil mastermind. I really do not understand how this has come to pass. The right treats Trump's donation of his salary as just an incredible act of kindness, while spitting on Gates who has donated 36 billion of his money to charitable organizations. More importantly the right is suspicious of Bill Gates funding parts of the CDC. Isn't this EXACTLY the way you guys want it? less taxes. Charitable donations. "if you love the goverment so much why don't YOU fund it?" that is exactly what he is doing, and now you complain about it? I really don't get it. By the way, if this is Bill Gates' masterplan to seize power he really really really is doing it all wrong.

We've had mandatory background checks in WA for 5 years (with no demonstrable effect on anything, and a maintenance cost of $10M/year, ftr). Gates keeps donating to GC groups (much less than $10M/year, ftr), so I think its clear he supports more than just BGCs.

Im sure you've seen the widely available video of Gates arguing that treating old people means we can't pay teachers as much, and to quote him directly "but thats called death panels and we're not supposed to have that discussion"... or do you need a link?
