Why did anyone think "defunding" the police was a good idea?

Nah, the difference is that you push a BS answer that no one asserted in the first place as a "debunking" and when you get called for it you cry about it. Address the post, you still haven't.

I can think of a couple, right off the top of my head. Austin TX for one, NYC for two. And while they weren't entirely defunded, huge portions of their budgets were slashed. So, semantics aside, there are examples of this. I entirely agree with you about what the ball looks like here. The soft on crime policy that allows catch and release of violent offenders in democratic cities is the real problem. It wasn't abated. We should continue to highlight just how absent democrats are when real crime happens. And just how enabling of that crime they are. It seems programmed. Like the crime is supposed to punish the people to scare them into capitulating to having to vote for democrats who "might" think about protecting them at some point. It's classic mobster behavior that democrats have aped here.

Yet there is no evidence of that or that the police was actually defunded. In reading thru the claims you guys are making it is striking that you can't back up a single one with actual facts.

But one by one, city governments began to bolster their police budgets in 2021, with an additional $200 million allocated to the New York City Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department seeing a 3 percent increase in the year after the city council approved a $150 million cut.

Officials in Austin cut police budgets last year, then refunded them this year

Do you ever actually read your own citations? So, what is your point here? Are democrats taking money from cops? The answer is yes. Even your citations admit that. So the rest of the story is, you have no basis for your assertion that democrats didn't try to reduce cop budgets around the nation. And when the public outcry happened, they somewhat recanted. And yet, even in LA, the dude who mowed down police recruits was just released. Thought?

Not remotely good enough. The simple fact of cutting budgets in the first place had a horrendous effect on police recruitment and morale.

In reading thru the claims you guys are making it is striking that you haven't backed up a single one with actual facts. Let's be honest here. The misnamed defund police movement came about after instances of police brutality had been documented for decades. Brought to a head by the murder of George Floyd. The outrage that caused resulted in some budget cutbacks and re-allocations of funds within a number of police depts. Cutbacks that were immediately reversed. It is a lie to broadly associate the Dem party with efforts to defund the police. Repubs have seized on the issue to fear monger during a campaign year because for unrelated reasons (COVID) crime has increased around the country.

I think Pelosi didn't really want the protest to be limited to... protest. Had bigger plans in mind.

The strawman? Yes, Did you read my link showing why it is indeed a strawman argument?

Police funding has been INCREASED, not decreased.

NOBODY DEFUNDED THE POLICE: A STUDY
    https://therealnews.com/nobody-defunded-the-police-a-study
A study of budgets in over 400 American cities over the last 5 years shows that, despite persistent claims by politicians, pundits, and police unions, there was no mass defunding of police. Police departments got the same average cut of the city budget in 2021 as they did in previous years.

He didn't claim the contrary, so either you did not read it, or you don't understand it.

You evidently did not and do not understand it. "Funding has not decreased", which is your argument, is not an answer to the question, which was, "Why would anyone think that it's a good idea?" In other words, what was their ...

    Oh, forget it.

any organization in the World, that would put black people in jail is probably racist.

Plus, what is up with putting any criminals in jail really? After all, aren't criminals the victims?

Aren't the cops with all of their Law Abiding, and trying to protect the innocent and weak, bad guys for doing so? pffffffffffffft. lmao!

I don't. I just wish that you would tell your fellow democrats this.
Prison, jail, and commiting crime isn't about race. It's about committing a crime, and doing something illegal, regardless of ones skin color.

Or at least it should be. And that means the same punishments accross the board. No matter republican or democrat, Politician or civilian. black or white.

    Wouldn't you agree?
