Of course Trump will want her as his VP. She is a bridge to non-maga side of the republican party and would strengthen his run against the democrat nomine. Plus he likes to put strong women in charge. He also happens to like her.
Yeah, it really does seem that way. I like alot about Trump, but I don't like that he has this cult following.
Another politician suffering from a sense of entitlement. Looks like the new generation Nikki learned **** from the old guys who are past their "prime" lol Politicians have been sued for using "Eye of the Tiger". 'Eye of the Tiger' writer blasts Haley playing it at campaign launch: 'Stop using my f--ing song!' "One of the writers of “Eye of the Tiger” is blasting Nikki Haley for playing the song at her 2024 presidential campaign launch, saying that politicians using his music is “not appropriate.” “Stop using my f—ing song!” Frankie Sullivan, the Survivor band member who co-wrote the 1982 mega-hit with Jim Peterik, told Billboard in an interview published Wednesday. Haley, South Carolina’s former Republican governor, kicked off her White House bid on Wednesday and took to the stage as “Eye of the Tiger” played for the crowd at the launch event in Charleston, S.C. She’s the first Republican to jump in the 2024 race since former President Trump announced his run for the GOP nomination last November. “That song belongs with the ’Rocky’ franchise and they don’t ask because they’d get a no. Absolutely,” Sullivan, 68, said." More: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/eye-of-the-tiger-writer-blasts-haley-playing-it-at-campaign-launch-stop-using-my-f—ing-song/ar-AA17zs1V
Don Lennon was right, Haley is also past her prime. Nothing sexist about saying something that is a fact. Nikki Haley @NikkiHaley America is not past its prime—our politicians are past theirs. We need term limits, and we need them now. 5:44 PM · Feb 16, 2023· 188.9K Views
There is considerable opposition within the GOP to the baggage-laden 2020 loser mired in the past and his personal, petty grievances, and Trump needs, not to destroy it, but to divide it, apportioning his tantrums and name-calling to thwart whoever becomes a frontrunner, sort of playing Whack-a-Mole with a rubber truncheon. The Florida authoritarian's interests are served by allowing his promoters to savage any viable upstarts as they arise. E.g., ... Coulter made several xenophobic comments about Haley, the former governor of South Carolina who was born in the U.S. to Indian immigrant parents. "Why don't you go back to your own country?" Coulter said. Coulter, known for her racist and anti-immigrant stances, attacked India, as well. "Her candidacy did remind me that I need to immigrate to India so I can demand they start taking down parts of their history," she said. "What's with the worshipping of the cows? They're all starving over there. Did you know they have a rat temple, where they worship rats?" Haley did not respond to a request for comment. Coulter also called Haley a "bimbo" and a "preposterous creature," criticizing her for having advocated removing the Confederate flag from the grounds of the South Carolina Statehouse in the wake of the 2015 shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston. "This is my country, lady," she said. "I'm not an American Indian, and I don't like them taking down all the monuments." Haley announced her candidacy Tuesday, making her the first Republican opponent for former President Donald Trump, for whom Coulter has been a vocal proponent. [https://news.yahoo.com/ann-coulter-tells-nikki-haley-012605583.html] Ironically, Coulter's racist scree must delight Trump whom she has dismissed as a "Jackass RINO." The GOP nomination process promises to be great fun.
Certainly, Trump needs to use the divide in order to conquer strategy which is in play right now. As for Coulter, I never paid her any attention and I’m not about to start now. I don’t pay any attention to any talking head from either side of the aisle. I prefer to go over all the polls and read what the political pundits like Sabato, Cook, Rothenberg, Nate Silver and more have to say. Let the political talking heads play their silly games. They’re playing to their own little audience, they’re not about to change a single voters mind. Most of us don’t tune into their shows anyway. It is my opinion the Republicans must decide. Either make another statement by nominating Trump and lose another election or try to win the election by nominating someone else. That’s their decision to make. Trump is a has been loser which has become an albatross around the Republican Party’s neck. Good news for the Democrats if by chance Trump wins the GOP nomination for 2024.
hahahahahahaha you think the GOP wants to "win elections"??? hahahahahahahaha the only thing the GOP cares about is money. The DNC cares about power (winning "elections"). The GOP cares about money. (fundraising from the minority position) Together, the Uniparty gets power and money, meanwhile the working class commoner gets bent over furniture.
What's funny about that is DeSantis is more like Trump in his libertarian nature, er, his opposite to neocon nature. If DeSantis becomes president, neocons are gonna hate DeSantis just as much as they hate Trump.
Now, now. We must focus on the GOP voter not in Washington, DC and not the corrupt Republican Party or neocon GOP politicians in Washington.
Supported the TPP Endorsed by numerous RINOs (Paul Ryan types), and now even has the coveted George Soros endorsement Focuses almost exclusively on culture wars instead of economics Supports the Ukraine grift and interventionalism Supports the "eat the bugs" "green energy" agenda Funded by elitist globalist megadonors such as Ken Griffin Refuses to be honest about the fact that his intention to run for President dates all the way back to as early as December 2021, choosing to dishonestly construct pretenses about it instead. Doing a "book tour" to keep up the pretense that he's "not campaigning for President". Doing an inauthentic and cringey "Top Gov" political advertisement. Some truths are very uncomfortable and hard to accept, but this is just the truth about DeSantis. He is being managed by the RINO Party at this point. While he's been an overall great governor, he would not make a good President and I will not be supporting him for President for the reasons mentioned above (and then some).
I agree with you wholeheartedly that objective analysis and empirical data is far more trustworthy than that the confections of partisan media entertainers, but I recognize that they have their followings. Even after Fox's attorneys won a case by arguing that Tucker Carlson is not to be believed and the judge concurred, the show business performer still has his uncritical bobbleheads who swallow whatever he tells them. You Literally Can't Believe The Facts Tucker Carlson Tells You. So Say Fox's Lawyers With 3.5 Million Viewers, Tucker Carlson Has The Week's Highest Rated cable news Show
Sure they do. They get all sorts of money from people to "fight the Democrats' extremist agenda", but they don't actually fight it. They just play their part and take the money. Commoners like you and I donate it because we want to remove the status quo. Rich megadonors donate it to retain the Uniparty status quo. Trillions are at stake.
Too funny and so transparent that Haley got her panties in a wad over Democrat Don Lennon saying that she's not in her "prime" but lets Conservative Ann Coulter off the hook for saying racist/derogatory things about her and India. It's quite obvious how Nikki rolls. Three days into her presidential campaign and she's already a joke. Chickenshit hypocrite Nikki! "Nikki Haley blasted CNN's Don Lemon on multiple fronts Thursday, calling it the sort of sexism typical of liberals."
I'm not sure that you're paying attention to the politics in the same country I am. For the last 30 years the Republicans and Democrats have done nothing but obstruct each other. They pay more attention to obstructing each other than they ever do to actually governing. I don't want to remove the status quo because I have nothing better to replace it with. Neither do you. Politics is a complex animal and I'm under no impression that electing firebrands whose only talent is selling their political theater on social media is going to actually fix anything. These idiots have no solutions. They've never governed anything. They are no better than their idiot far-left counterparts. I'd prefer to keep the idiots on the far right and far left out of government and out of the status quo. I don't feel the need to burn my country down because I'm so arrogantly sure that I have all the answers.
I assume her chances depend more on how much money she can generate than if she is any good at anything…apart from raising money I suppose.
Yes, that is the way it is. Most folks who watch FoxNews, their political talk shows are hard core conservatives who would never vote for any democrat. They tune in to listen to exactly what they want to hear. You’re not going to change any of their minds no matter what. Same for those MSNBC late night political talk show viewers. They’re die hard Democrats, liberals who would never vote for a republican no matter what. History shows that on average 94% of those who identify themselves with either major party will vote for their party’s candidates. Many of those party loyalists watching those late-night political talk shows for me is totally irrelevant. They are what they are. Myself, I concentrate on independents, the swing voters, the non-affiliated and less to non-partisan. It’s with this group that decides national elections and many state elections. Independents certainly decided who won Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin in both 2016 and 2020. The power of independents, in my home state of Georgia, they gave the governorship to Republican Kemp, then elected Democratic Warnock to the senate. Both Kemp and Warnock won independents, swing voters, ticket splitters if you will. Who won was decided by independents, not party loyalist or base.
One basic essential that I demand of any candidate, regardless of ideological affinity, is a recognition of reality, and deference to the will of the People. Losers and their supporters who persist, despite all the states' certifications - following recounts, audits, and court challenges - to impugn the democratic process based upon its outcome, should not be participating in it. I am also wary of the rise of authoritarianism, politicians increasingly dictating their ideological dogma to the best-qualified in medicine, education, private enterprise, and to local communities and citizens.
With me as a swing voter, I tend to go by whether I like candidate as a person and who I think can do the best job at whatever office they’re running for. And yes, someone willing to listen to the will of the people. I’m not an ideologue, ideology isn’t that important to me and party affiliation to totally irrelevant. An example is 2022, I voted for Republican Kemp, I think he’s been an excellent governor. Then I voted for Libertarian Chase Oliver for senator, I really disliked both Warnock and Walker. A vote against both. Then I voted for Democratic congressman David Scott. He’s always been accessible, listens and has done a good job in my opinion. A lot of folks think I’m one crazy voter. Voting on whether I like a candidate as a person or not. A voter both major parties hate because I make up my own mind and don’t follow either major party’s dictates. I think both major parties misread a lot of swing voters as to what is important to them. I’ve found out issues and policy wise, most independents are for some policies and issues the democrats push and against others. The same for republicans, for some and against some. Most I would say ideology wise aren’t this mass group in-between the left and right. They’re a mixture of both. Another example, one can be both pro-2nd amendment and pro-choice at the same time or anti-2nd amendment and pro-life. Neither major party recognizes this. They want mindless robots who are 100% loyal, who will follow them, support them, do anything they say. They want a person who scores 100% on their litmus tests. No thank you.
The Republicans are happy to play the Washington Generals pretending to oppose the Harlem Globetrotters. Anything to keep their snouts in the gravy train. They're trained to be losers and are happy to still be in the game.
First a ton of good insight and replies here. I basically agree that she is running for VP. Wasn’t it all planned out in 2016 as well? That was honestly quite a stellar field for the GOP and Trump just had a plurality of the vote all the way through. That’s the good thing about being the Big Tent Party. We’ve got a lot of smart people, good policies and occasionally, some disagreements. DeSantis might also be waiting to see if Trump has any actual legal troubles vs Dem created investigations, whether his health and energy hold out, and just to see how events play out. There’s no strong reason for him to jump in early. America SHOULD be DeSantis’s Florida and the growth of the party there has been amazing. The narrative for DeSantis is that he took a sliver type win of the exact nature that Trump had in 2016 and grew it into a grand and effective majority. DeSantis even made sure to clean out the voter fraud centers like Broward County and both he and Trump garnered a larger percentage of the vote the next cycle. Trump and DeSantis are not at all far right. Those who watch too much cable news think that not letting your kids compete against the trans women in sports, let their kids get bullied to death on the bus on their way to the drag show, and who have homeless drug addicts overrunning everything are “Hitler”. The majority of the world knows better. Trump’s family has some very decent longevity genes. His parents lives to an average age of 90 years old and while Trump himself is 76 years old, he’s clearly got quite a lot of energy and vigor for a man his age You can’t always pick who “endorses” or wants you to be in office. We’ve seen this tactic tried in the past with Trump as well. They’d nut pick someone somewhere who said or did something crazy and use their “endorsement” as proof it was true of Trump as well. I honestly think Haley would fall in line and is in fact running for VP. She has executive experience, and is already using the various “cards” against major media. People are offended about the line “brown girl in a black and white world” as an example but she’s already using it to take out Don Lemmon. I’d love for life to be pure and for everything in governance to be a rib eye vs sausage being made. Sadly that just isn’t always so. We even have to acknowledge this with Trump. He had to pick Mike Pence in 2016. There was a clear reason for that and it wasn’t because the best of friends. Trump had shaky credentials on religion being a former NY LIberal who had dated and clubbed, had three wives and so on. Pence helped plug that hole. In 2024 having a female woman of color who is competent and has executive experience plugs a lot of media narrative holes. Haley herself served in the first Trump administration for two years. If she’s part of some super uniparty plot then Trump didn’t seem to care when he had her serve under him the first time. With regard to Trump vs DeSantis, DeSantis is smart enough to wait and see if Trump takes himself out. He’s young and has time. I didn’t vote for Trump in 2016 and I did in 2020. His Presidency was already an amazing second act and I’d love for him to have a great third act. However unlike the movies life seldom works out that way. I’m not saying this just to be mean or mad about Trump. We are talking Jordan with the Wizards, Kobe after the Achilles, and so many other examples. Trump became a billionaire. He became President against pretty much against all polls and all odds. Asking someone to do the impossible a third time in a big ask and I hope he pulls it off. Trump still spent like mad. He didn’t fight back hard enough against the COVID stuff. He’s got an insane amount of baggage. He has far too many of the “wrong” people around him who betrayed him and thus us in critical times. He may have been sophisticated in the use of social media, the nature of the corporate media and so on but he isn’t young and good enough to beat them at their own game. He’s just far above average for his age bracket in knowing the game is rigged. This is where DeSantis shines. Claims of globalism or not, he went to war against Disney. He walked that tightrope on COVID where he provided whatever people wanted be it a vaccine, monoclonal antibodies and so on and kept things open to the furthest degree possible. He went to war against cruise lines which are a major deal as well. He doesn’t just call the media fake news. He has his own people recording the the press conferences, the “gotcha” moments and uses them against the media beating them at their own game. Hundreds of thousands of people have moved to Florida including Trump. He’s literally a former prosecutors so if there’s anyone that can figure out how to beat Democrats at lawfare and their endless investigations, and other nonsense it would likely be him. Republicans did not used to go into every election cycle dramatically down in funds compared to Democrats. The party needs that tent to be big but we also need to realize that certain global elements and multinationals are not our enemy as long as they follow the America First agenda. Trump understood repatriating off-shore profits back to the United States. Mega-donors and others can help. They can have to pass the proper tests and are not above suspicion but they can’t automatically be written off either. In the end we need more than principles. We need election wins and right now the Democrats are taking their big money and brain dead candidates like Fetterman and Biden and winning the day even while all of us lose out.
