I would say literally stealing/rigging an election is pretty bad.

Go to California where it costs $1 million to put a modest roof over your head. Yes, $150 thousand a year is great deal of money in Iowa. In other places, it's not so much.

Here are a few numbers for you I grabbed off the Internet for California. You buy a $1 million house with 20% down leaving an $800,000 mortgage.

    Income $150,000
    Taxes $51,174, leaving you $98,826
Monthly mortgage payment, 30 years at 6% $4,796 times 12 months $57,552 leaving $41,274 - over a lifetime you will pay almost $927,000 in interest.
if you cut the mortgage term to 15 years, the payment is $6,750 or $81,000, leaving $17,826, which is not viable.

Then you need to add money to eat, go back and forth to work, pay auto insurance and perhaps save a little for retirement.

That's not the way I want to live, but perhaps you find it attractive.

Off course it is expensive to live in NYC. NYC GDP in 2022 was 1.59 trillion compared to entire state of FL is 1.2 trillion.

Republicans can trash these big blue cities all day long but these are the cities which makes America the riches country in the world.

GDP of Few Cities in America

    NYC 1.59 trillion

    L.A. 1.1 trillion

    Chicago 765 billion

    San Francisco 680 billion

    Washington DC 608 billion

30% of the republican party LOVE those silly nicknames . trump's anger issues and general childishness were well known in 2016, as is the general maturity and intelligence of the frog worshippers who comprise his base.

Actually you don't. The Law SPECIFICALLY STATES THAT 'health care providers can't use it to deny care based on a patient's race, color, religion, sex or national origin.'

Oh, I see the bee in your bonnet, how come so many on the Left suddenly hate Whistleblower Protections? From the law:

'providing whistle-blowers protections for health care providers and healthcare payors that take certain actions or disclose certain information relating to the reporting of certain violations'

Section 2 of that literally says they can make the choice if they want:

And a little bit further down:

Pensacola News Journal even says as much:

How can we tell if Ron DeSantis is formidable? It's strictly the opinion of many like this author who opined,
You can already smell the fear
Opinion: Ron DeSantis' critics may call him a 'fascist' and a 'phony,' but they actually harbor a greater fear: He's presidential.

That's fake news. It says quite specifically that 'health care providers can't use it to deny care based on a patient's race, color, religion, sex or national origin.'

    (b) 'The exercise of the right of medical conscience is
limited to conscience-based objections to a specific health care
    service
. This section may not allow a health care provider to opt out of providing
health care services to any patient or potential patient because
of that patient’s or potential patient’s race, color, religion,
    sex, or national origin.'

Are you afraid that you will not be able to force doctors to cut off the perfectly healthy peckers of young men, or slice off perfectly healthy breasts of young ladies?

This very clearly empowers them to opt out of providing particularly heinous destructions that violate any normal conscience, it very much does NOT allow them to simply not treat people because of their race, color, religion, sex or national origin.

I'm glad you brought this to us, it looks like the lying fake news was filling your head with a lot of crap, and now you have it all straight with a link to the actual law, rather than just a link to the fake news propagandists who misrepresent it in order further the political agenda of the DNC, you're welcome!

Yes it does, I literally highlighted it for you above and it even says so in the opening paragraph in the link. The PNJ also summarizes the same thing.

Nope, the fascist, homophobic whitewashing thing is pretty accurate of him. And if you willingly support or vote for him, you're just as bad, although based on many comments in other threads I can see being as awful as him doesn't bother some people.

You literally are wrong. From the opening paragraph:

    'An act relating to protections of medical conscience;
    3 providing legislative intent; creating s. 381.00321,
4 F.S.; defining terms; providing that health care
5 providers and health care payors have the right to opt
6 out of participation in or payment for certain health
    7 care services
    on the basis of conscience-based
    8 objections;'

You can't force anyone in the medical community to provide any particular service, it does not grant them the power to simply not treat people that they do not like. Are you confused on the distinction between a person and a particular service?

They cannot, for example, refuse to treat women, but they may refuse to cut off their perfectly healthy breasts. Or, they may refuse to treat men, but they may refuse to amputate a perfectly healthy penis from a man.

Hopefully this has cleared up your misunderstanding, and of course, you are welcome.

You and I are both on the same page. I will be voting for Governor DeSantis in the primaries but if it comes to the general, I'm giving it to whoever is the Republican nominee.

    Anyone but Biden . . . .

I'll address just a few of these.
So you are saying homosexual relations are on the rise? Do you know that for a fact or.....is it just wishful thinking?

Is this another thing you know for a fact? Crime usually goes down when criminals know they are assaulting an armed populace.
This is very good news. It is a Constitutional right of citizens that have never committed a felony.
Is this another thing you know for a fact? Is there a crystal ball involved?

So LBGTQ or better known as "the gender confused", has a right to expand it's culture on young children by sexually mutilating them without parents knowledge while they are in their adolescence? Young folks are often confused about a lot of things, but you think a bunch of sickos have a right to bring them into the fold permanently by mutilation?

I remember when Cuomo the rapist said New York's COVID response was the class of the nation. Three years later, New York has lower economic growth, higher unemployment, and a similar death rate when compared to Florida. DeSantis let Floridians live their lives. New Yorkers developed Stockholm syndrome and willingly gave up their jobs and produced papers upon demand.

Then parents need to get it together and explain the difference to their kids. Not the world’s job to teach them. And if you wanna talk about sickos, start with the Governor whitewashing history, or the book bans.

Sounds like you fear Governor DeSantis becoming the next president.
    He did not whitewash history.
He did not ban books for the reason the left has said. I think you may have gotten took by some misinformation or possibly purposeful disinformation, because DeSantis did NOT ban books. Please spread truthful information.

From USA Today fact check: Fact check: Fake list of banned Florida books circulates widely online (usatoday.com)
Additionally, FL. isn't banning books as I informed above, they are banning pornography in school libraries. The junk parents have said they wanted removed.

Who cheated, and how? Comment is a vague generalization.

Who lied and what were the lies?

    good thing they did.
Trump's incessant lie, given numerous times before the first ballot was ever cast, that 'Democrats stole the election" wasn't fair.
The outcome of the election was fair. 7 million more voted for Biden than they did for Trump.
No, their motivation is to stop a criminal, fraudster, sex abuser, all around despicable human being not to mention a threat to Us National Security from occupying the White House.
Thank you for having enough, though your reasons are woefully inadequate.
Logical fallacies in your article: :

    False dichotomy
: “the single all-encompassing threat facing the American people is the metastasis of the woke ideology, which spreads like a cancer and is weaponized by the out-of-touch ruling class elites who populate all the major institutions of our political and civic life"

    Ad hominem
: “the out-of-touch ruling class elites who populate all the major institutions of our political and civic life"

    Straw man
: “Whether it is anti-Americanist critical race theory or gender ideology indoctrination in the elementary school classroom, the university faculty lounge, or the corporate boardroom.”

    Slippery slope
: “the metastasis of the woke ideology” is the “single all-encompassing threat facing the American people” and that it is “weaponized by the out-of-touch ruling class elites who populate all the major institutions of our political and civic life.”

    Hasty generalization
: “the out-of-touch ruling class elites who populate all the major institutions of our political and civic life.”

Now then, having established the logical fallacies, a general comment on the article by Mr. Hammer:

He's claiming that 'woke ideology' is the biggest threat Americans are facing in 2023, but I've got to say, it's not really clear what he means by 'woke ideology'. This is a huge umbrella term that covers a lot of different views. It feels like he's just thrown all these ideas into one pot and labelled them as bad, which doesn't really tell us much.

Then he says that Ron DeSantis is the only politician who gets what's going on and is fighting against it. It's like he's forgotten that there are loads of politicians out there with a wide range of beliefs and strategies. Can't really say it's just one person holding up the fort, can we?

One thing that really jumps out is the language he's using. Words like 'weaponized', 'cancer', and phrases like 'civilizational sanity' and 'civilizational arson' are pretty intense, right? It's got a certain ring to it, sure, but it can be off-putting and it doesn't really invite a more in-depth conversation.

He also takes a swing at big corporations, suggesting they've all been hijacked by the left. This feels like another oversimplification. Corporations are complex, they're not all singing the same tune. And to say that DeSantis' opposition to them proves he understands the score, well, it's a bit of a stretch considering how complicated the relationships between corporations, politics, and society really are.

And one more thing, Mr. Hammer is painting this picture where you're either fighting for 'civilizational sanity' or you're causing 'civilizational arson'. But isn't life, and especially politics, a bit more nuanced than that? Presenting things in such a black-and-white manner could actually prevent us from understanding the full picture.

So, in a nutshell, while Mr. Hammer's argument sounds dramatic and compelling, it kinda brushes over the complexities and variety of views that are out there. It could use a bit more balance, some specifics, and a dash of nuance to make it more convincing.

But, the above is just a critique about Hammer's Op Ed. My opinion of De Santis is that. I believe De Santis is a radical right winger, and would be terrible for America. I don't think he will be the kind of threat to US National Security that Trump poses, so, De Santis would be the lesser of two evils.

Wokeness is being rejected by the people. DeSantis has yet to prove himself. The 2016 GOP primaries revealed how the GOP was caving and Trump came along and mopped the floor with the empty suits representing Republicans.

How is DeSantis not just another empty suit?

Look at his record in Florida.

To say that DeSatis is “an empty suit” is like taking a big gulp of Trump Kool Aid. You Trumpists need to talk about the positive aspects of Trump’s time as president and address what he’s going to do to fix things if he’s elected.

You need to lay off the negative stuff. If you totally P.O. too many of us who don’t believe that Trump should be nominated again, we won’t be around to help you in November 2024.

So what? Florida is one of 50 states. How will DeSantis handle the big time?

You probably think JEB! is special also.
