58 states. He said he had been in 57 states and had one more to go.

He also said the US Constitution was written in 9 AD - about 2,000 yrs ago. He also thinks that Hawaii is in Asia......that and more from a fella who said he graduated Magna cum Laude from Harvard.....

About the 'Corpsemen' thing - I really believe he does it on purpose, which is calling the military 'dead men'. If a 5 grader has no trouble pronouncing 'corpsmen', why would a Harvard Magna cun Laude graduate not be able to?......."core- men' .... so easy.

He's smart enough to not lie about the Bible, like 92% of Republican politicians do.

I am going to go with Bill Clinton for the dumbest politician in Washington if he still rates. For consideration I give you that he was under investigation by special federal investigator for sexual issues and at the same time he starts an affair with his employee Monica Lewinski and has sex in the office.

This seems to me to be remarkably stupid.

It was actually very dry humor. That's his style. His point was that we have too much military on that Island. And I don't know why this is getting dragged up from 3 years ago.

Michelle Bachman is really trying to be the dumbest politician in DC, and I think she's doing a fabulous job.

    http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/republicans/a/michele-bachmann-quotes.htm

"I don't know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We've had an earthquake; we've had a hurricane. He said, 'Are you going to start listening to me here?' Listen to the American people because the American people are roaring right now. They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we've got to rein in the spending." –Rep. Michele Bachmann, suggesting at a presidential campaign event in Florida that the 2011 East Coast earthquake and hurricane was a message from God (Aug. 2011)

"Well what I want them to know is just like, John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That's the kind of spirit that I have, too" -Rep. Michele Bachmann, getting her John Waynes mixed up during an interview after launching her presidential campaign in Waterloo, Iowa, where she grew up. The beloved movie star John Wayne was born in Winterset, Iowa, three hours away. The John Wayne that Waterloo was home to is John Wayne Gacy, a notorious serial killer. (June 2011)

"I will tell you that I had a mother last night come up to me here in Tampa, Florida, after the debate. She told me that her little daughter took that vaccine, that injection, and she suffered from mental retardation thereafter." –Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), on the HPV vaccine, Fox News interview, Sept. 12, 2011

"I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out under another, then under another Democrat president, Jimmy Carter. I'm not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it's an interesting coincidence." -Rep. Michele Bachmann, on the 1976 Swine Flu outbreak that happened when Gerald Ford, a Republican, was president, April 28, 2009

Carbon dioxide is portrayed as harmful. But there isn't even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas." -Rep. Michelle Bachmann, April, 2009

"If we took away the minimum wage -- if conceivably it was gone -- we could potentially virtually wipe out unemployment completely because we would be able to offer jobs at whatever level." -Michele Bachmann, Jan. 2005

"But we also know that the very founders that wrote those documents worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States. ... I think it is high time that we recognize the contribution of our forbearers who worked tirelessly -- men like John Quincy Adams, who would not rest until slavery was extinguished in the country." -Rep. Michele Bachmann, botching American history while speaking at an Iowan's for Tax Relief event in January 2011. The Founding Fathers did not work to end slavery, and John Quincy Adams was not one of the Founding Fathers.

"Before we get started, let's all say 'Happy Birthday' to Elvis Presley today." -Rep. Michele Bachmann, while campaigning for president in South Carolina on what was actually the anniversary of Elvis's death, Aug. 16, 2011 (Elvis was born on January 8)

And I'm sure you had the same criticism of Bush Jr, who was a complete moron in public?

Fool me once..............shame on you......fool me twice.................can't be fooled again.

Man, this is like choosing the pick of the litter and you have over 500 faces staring back at you. I could go with your above candidate, and among others that have said some ridiculous things. However, my candidate would have to be Todd Akin, after this glorious answer to 'legitimate rape'.

As a follow up, here is an advertisement for a prescription, in regards to Todd Akin's statement.

"We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of [false prophets with a War Booty of raped slave girls in binders]." (Obama)

"(3) Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: We got female captives in the war booty and we used to do coitus interruptus with them. So we asked Allah's Apostle about it and he said, "Do you really do that?" repeating the question thrice, "There is no soul that is destined to exist but will come into existence, till the Day of Resurrection." (Book #62, Hadith #137)"

Really? There's nothing stupid about the term "legitimate rape," it's a term referring to sex that was not consensual and was absolutely forced from the start. So many liberals hear this term and find it unbelievable that a woman would ever falsely claim rape after consensual sex, which is absolutely absurd.

As far as the accuracy, it's beyond dubious. Women who are raped are pretty much just as likely to get pregnant. But, Todd Akin was citing a (once) prominent medical study that found that women are less likely to become pregnant after trauma. It's pretty much debunked, even if only in a matter of degree, but he wasn't just making the stuff up. The study was old - guess what, he's old. Many things you were taught in grade school are probably also old and outdated. Take for example Lucy, the missing link, who I was once taught about as an actual missing link. :/ F***ing public schools.

Maybe not the term, 'legitimate rape', but to believe women will naturally abort children after becoming raped, because of one reason or the other, is simply unfounded. I didn't know there was an actual study on this, but even so, by simply saying 'If a woman was raped, I don't believe in allowing a woman to seek abortion', would've been a better answer than what he gave.

To be honest, all of the things I learned in public school have become a distant memory. Everything that I've had to learn, I've had to learn on my own, after school. This is because most of their ways of teaching wasn't very helpful. I was horrible at English, I had to truly learn what each thing is (Still don't know all of them, I can get by writing it, just don't ask me what something is). The reality is that everyone should still be wanting to obtain greater knowledge, especially in the position that he was in. If you rely on old information, for everything in life, you're going to be forever stuck in the past. Times change, so does people, in knowing this, you have to keep pushing forward.

To the first bit: I'm not sure what you're talking about dude. It was said in an interview where he was asked about abortion in cases of rape - I don't know where you got the "women will naturally abort" part.

Yes, times change, but not staying up to date with ALL the latest info doesnt make you the dumbest person in america.

:23 - :27, if it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways of shutting that whole thing down - Todd Akins.

I never said he was. All I was staking a claim on was him being the dumbest politician in DC, hence the name of this thread.

Ummm John Wayne WAS born in Iowa. When insulting others for their lack of intelligence, may I suggest you not confuse basic facts like the difference between a town and a state? Hope that helps.

So,a white old "male" politician, quoting an "old" study-about "Women" & he presumes this is an intelligent thing to say on national T.V.? And coming to his defense is an old white wealthy "male" who contributes money to the GOP,Frost, that then adds insult to injury by saying" heck, you can save alot of money on birth control,if "Women" just put aspirin between their legs"
Demeaning, degrading, insulting & just plain "stupid".And your defending him?

ah, it's in how you phrased it. You can see how I'd confuse 'abort' with something else, right? ;) but anyways, yes, there was a study, and it was one he was sourcing. It's based on the idea that women experiencing 'trauma' are less likely to become pregnant.

To the second part *shrug* not staying up with ALL the latest info doesn't make you the dumbest politician in DC.

ah, it's bad because he's a male. Now I see why it's so bad! :alcoholic:

BS. Your post was sexist and bull(*)(*)(*)(*). And it was also hyper-partisan and ignorant.

As stated, he's not been vilified because he's wrong, he's been vilified because he used the phrase "legitimate rape," which you didn't even touch on. And no, using God-given intellect to understand what actually happened and correct hyper-partisan rhetoric isn't a defense of Akin, it's a refutation of your hyper-partisan bs.

No worries. That's why I explained where my line of thinking was. I'll keep going until folks understand my point of view. I have a lifetime,

Fair enough & agreed. However, I only put Todd into this gene pool because of the above statement. The politician, in the video within the OP, win's the cake. I just wanted to have some fun with this thread and throw out another ridiculous statement. I could throw out more, but I think his is next best, in my book.

So, it was (after all this thread is about "who is the most stupid POLITICIAN") Todd Akin's STUPIDITY on this issue that got him beaten in his campaign,& now somehow you want to blame me! Stellar---
My point was,(and as usual by the GOP completely miscontrued)a "man" trying to be an expert on(or so quoting who "thought" was an expert)
on a "women's" body. I didn't make the "stupid "comment-Tod Akin did & he lost the election because of it-you can try to spin it any way you want, but the fact is he demeaned, degraded & insulted the women in his constiuency & the women voted accordingly.
