I'd be interested to know more about this if you have a reference. However this would presumably only cover DACA recipients who were brought here as children. I'm sure that only covers a small amount of people who are here working illegally.

I did do a brief scan of the provision and there seem to be quite a few hoops to jump through before that status is granted. You'd also need an employer who is willing to go the extra mile for a particular worker (including filing and legal costs). I doubt that, except in rare cases, there would be many willing to do that.

I don't know why we can't have a simple non-resident work permit program. Maybe that's what the guest worker program is set up to address?

It still leaves us with an underclass of cheap powerless labor and doesn't address issues of abuse by employers, fair competition/compensation, health care, etc., etc.

It would be about the same as finding all those here without papers, but with a job and then issuing them a permit that their employer can tear up at will.
