Trump has already started to launch his "negotiation" over NAFTA via twitter. And Mexico is shutting that down. He is also still barking up that "Mexico will pay for the wall" bullshit while simultaneously threatening to shut down the government unless the American taxpayer pays for his wall.

That is just some grade A "Art of the deal" right there. And by that, I mean, Trump wings some **** and someone else, much smarter, will come along and interpret it and do the work for him.

 

Press, social media same thing.

 

Both would be a moronic way to negotiate NAFTA.

 

Sounds like Trump has made his point and is already setting the bar to me. For any reasonable person to think that Trump is actually negotiating a treaty through social media is shocking and further illustrates how desperate the left is. Trump's isn't hiding our goals and is very transparent, which compared to the past, is refreshing.

 

First, this is Mexico - the Country - responding. Not the "left."

Second, you appear to be making the argument that "Making his point" and "setting the bar" is NOT part of "actually negotiating?"

 

Trump is already negotiating it and they don't even realize it.

If the Mexican government were smart they wouldn't have so many problems.

 

Who wants to bet that Trump gives them something in the NAFTA renegotiating if they pay for the wall.

In the end they will end up more profitable because of the deal, they pay for the wall, and Trump wins.

I have a feeling Trump has had a strategy planned out for this all along.

Final plans for the wall are due in September.

Contractors are already standing by to begin work on it.

That gives Trump until probably the end of the year, maybe a bit after, to get it paid for.

Look at it like this.

Trump needs 1.6 billion from Mexico to pay for it, that's not very much.

They stand to lose far more than that with a bad negotiation of NAFTA.

What would you do?

Pay for the wall and take the better deal or not?

If they are smart as you claim the choice is obvious.

 

And they will NOT pay for the wall - everyone except Trump chumps knows that.

 

And I hope that you all realize that if Trump does get them to pay its automatically going to get him re-elected since the left made such a big deal about it being impossible.

 

So they will choose to lose tens of billions if Trump pulls us out of NAFTA?

Do the contractors know they probably won't get paid ...it's a habit with Trump so they better hope Mexico has a huge brain fart and pays or contractors, even the obligatory crooked ones, won't see any money

The obvious answer to build the wall kills two birds with one stone. Just move appropriations from DHS for construction. I think last year the budget for DHS was 50 billion. This is a drop in the bucket, get cracking!
