Guns aren't banned by the venue. De santis wanted it banned for his campaign event, but wanted the venue to say it was their rule so the optics didn't look bad for him.

If there were such a rule Desantis would not have to act on keeping them out.

It defers to state law and state law prohibits guns at any meeting of a governing body that includes this. It's required by law

 

The convention center defers to 790 the state of Florida forbids guns in this instance.
