DeSantis is part of neither.

 

There are places like the Capitol where we cannot carry arms but it is like you said earlier with the Florida statute example, it is because there are laws in place already. There are many that believe guns should be allowed in those places and we have those fighting to allow guns in building like the Capitol. When @Oldyoungin parrots the "it is for safety" it pretty much validates every argument made for banning guns. Basically if banning guns makes DeSantis feel safer why shouldn't everyone have that luxury. If this story is true then DeSantis really needs to address this and not simply ignore it. If it is fake news then he should definitely get the real info out there immediately to kill this story and right the record.

 

If there was such a rule, DeSantis would have publicly complained about it while privately thanking them.

 

This won't be a gun free zone. There'll be guns there.

It seems to reflect his fundamental belief on where firearms are permitted. I can 100% understand if he is mandated by law but if it is his preference then he needs to discuss the issue. He is a potential presidential candidate and if he firmly believes gun free zones enhances ones safety then he should make his position known. You seem to prefer he just not talk about it. There are many that believes this is a pretty important policy issue.
