Yeah , we had a good T-Day , all the kids came in , and we ate till we popped..

This was the first year that I actually cooked most of the T-Day supper , Mom just wasn't able to , but it all turned out real well..

Mom did insist on making her ' angel biscuts ' , and I let her have at it ...

Bless her heart , she insisted on getting he groceries , and she bought a low fat buttermilk for her biscut recipe..

now , think about it , for a minute.. What make buttermilk ,,, buttermilk ?

      It's the butter fat..

So , I had to go out and get some real buttermilk , otherwise , the biscuts would have been a disaster...

      Haw Haw Haw.. : )

We left the dog alone, he did not go in the house, and did not chew on anything,,amazing!! Thought for sure he would at least pee, nope nuthin he waited.
How was your day, eat much???,,,hahahahah

      Flounder,
I just noticed TheHat and Edwin30 both banned yet this forum allows one particular poster to spread his Antisemitism, prejudice and hostility towards Jews.

well , we had the pumps , or I'd never have had a chance... we had those Winchester .22 that a lot of shooting galleries had , you know the slide pump .22's ??

Dang accurate little rifles , they were...

But , we were hunting side by side , ya know ? and out in the country , didn't have to worry about hitting a house or anything...

Yeah , crows is a lot of fun to shoot , especially over an owl decoy... : )

I remember one time I bought a lifesize owl from Cabela's... you couldn't tell it from the real thing...

I worked shifts at that time , and we had a (*)(*)(*)(*) gang of blue-jays around , and there must have been 20 or more of them , and when I worked the graveyard shift , and the next day when I was trying to sleep , they'd wake me up about 11:30 am... every morning.

When ya work all night , and get in the bed about 9 : am , ya just don't want to be woke up 2 hours later , ya know ?

So , I put that owl decoy up , and loaded up my .20 gage Browning Auto , and sure enough , about 11:30 , here the gang came swooping down on that owl decoy..

Yaayak , yaayak , and when I stepped out from a corner of the house and let loose with that .20 gage , the feathers went flying , but they were so intent on the owl that they paid little attention to my shooting , and I reloaded 4 times , and with every shot blew a blue jay to smithereens.... happyhappyjoyjoyhappyhappyjoy...

My yard was carpeted with blue jay feathers , and I sure thinned them down , I did ..

and I went back to bed , and slept like a baby....

never did have any more blue-jay trouble from that day forth..

      Haw Haw Haw ....

We used to rabbit hunt every Thanksgiving evening , just the men , ya know ? Dad and Papaw and me would go over to my Uncle Vardy's , and kick the brushpiles..

My great-grandaddy Jim Fugate always had a great affinitty for rabbitts , he fed them year round , and he had a whole herd of rabbitts , and the only time they ever got thinned down was Thanksgiving Day , and he sure didn't like us to kill his pet rabbitts , but there were just so many that they were actually a nusiance , so Uncle Vardy just told us to kill every one we could , but just to make it fair , we all used .22 rifles instead of shotguns , haw haw haw ..

You ever try and hit a rabbit with a .22 ? not an easy shot , with them running flat out , but we ate as many rabbits the day after T-Day as a good sized oven would bake , and it was a lot better than turkey ever was... haw haw haw ..

      Lord , how I miss those days... : )

well , I just had my hat handed back to me , don't know what to make of it..

I posted a new thread " Thanksgiving must have food " and I was the only one that posted a comment.. Sheeesh , sort of hurt my feelings , I figured it would be a popular thread...

Am I considered an asswhole now , on PF ?
