What we have seen clearly in this country for about the last year is that, once again, what the "Black community" seems to be best at is shouting, "RACISM!" at everybody else.

It's nostalgic, really -- reminds me of back in the late 1960's, when a lot of them went on rioting rampages, burning down large parts of cities, and looting everything the could lay their hands on. There's been several generations now that have made entire life's careers out of playing the "racism" angle -- even though, BY LAW, all American citizens are totally EQUAL BEFORE THE LAW, since at least 1965!

The filibuster has been around since the early 1800's. It has yet to result in slavery of the majority.

Yet it was mentioned it as a possibility was it not? The filibuster has been used mostly to prevent equality and justice across the nation. Today its a tool for Mitch to use to stop everything in its tracks. Its time to go. I really don't give a damn about the desires of a small number of people in WY so why should we give their Senators power over all of us?

It is a practice that, one must admit, is an absolute example of freedom of speech. The history of its use is not as glorious as what it stands for.

Well, in all fairness Charlottesville has been striving for years to become recognized as the "San Francisco" of the east coast in every harebrained aspect imaginable.

Again, sometimes it's difficult to see the difference between real life and satire.

I sure didn't hear you hollering last year when Dems used it over 300 times. (including 2 covid stimulus acts and to stop a police reform bill by a Republican)

Seriously, all you're doing is spreading talking points. If you knew the actual history of the filibuster you wouldn't be saying this. Do you even know what the result will be if the filibuster is removed? Dems WILL lose power again you know. Dems get in power: Tons of their pet projects get passed. Republicans get in power, vote to remove all of those pet projects and then install their own pet projects. Dems get back in power, remove all of the Republican pet projects and institute their own again along with new stuff. Rinse and repeat.

If there's no difference, it's no longer satire.

If you really want to piss off some of these Black 'woke' jokers, ask them if they'd rather be back in wonderous 'Mother Africa', trying to pull tonight's dinner down out of the trees. :spin:

How WONDERFUL it would have been if White people had never, ever disturbed their pastoral, native bliss -- and left them there, entirely alone!

Al Sharpton, one of the biggest racist in this nation ever! We should listen to him for sure.

And for those speaking of educated voters, it doesn't mean they are intelligent! I know of numerous educated idiots! I have fired many of them. Love listening to people with PhD's. They (think that they) are so smart!

We need like a set 50/50 that takes a 60 40 so both sides have to work with each other to do anything.

Nonsense. The filibuster has been around since around 1806. There’s nothing racist about it despite what your controllers tell you.

So? How is it NOT racist? It was used mainly to block reforms throughout our history

There's no difference to those paying attention. Regular people that don't pay much attention to politics will still find it satire for the simple fact that they couldn't believe that such is actually true.

The reason that I didn't consider that babylon bee article satire is because I didn't read past the first bit. That first one about the filibuster being racist because it stops them from getting their way is pretty much exactly why so many want to get rid of the filibuster and are calling it racist. Only difference is that first point is more direct. Hell, ole' Al pretty much said as much.

Yeah, he didn't say it outright. Of course he wouldn't. He's not stupid. People would instantly dismiss his argument if he did and he knows it. So him, and others, are using the excuse that the filibuster is racist and points to a few instances. Never acknowledging that the filibuster has been used far more for policies that have nothing to do with race. Hell, the exact reason that Reid first used the nuclear option was because they were having a hard time getting their picks appointed to various courtrooms. Repubs did the same and said the same for SCOTUS, only they decided to use it preemptively because Dems were threatening to filibuster every single pick unless Garland was the pick.

How was police reform racist? Dems used the filibuster to stop Tim Scotts police reform bill. How was 2 covid relief bills racist, you know, the ones Dems blocked using the filibuster...

For every "reform" you can name I could name 20 filibusters that had nothing to do with race. Including the original reason that the filibuster was first used for. Hell, Dems used the filibuster more times in the 116th Congress than any other Congress in history, only seconded by the 113th Congress. LINK: U.S. Senate: Cloture Motions (you do know that motion to vote for cloture is used to end filibusters...right?)
