‘They are, in effect, supporting racism’ — Black leaders ramp up filibuster pressure on Senate Dems

The Democrats, during the 4 years of the Trump administration, almost doubled the number of filibusters during the 8 years of the Obama administration.

If the filibuster is racist, this tells you who the racists are.

 

Dems are almost as capable of blocking needed reform as are Republicans. The Filibuster is a Parliamentary trick used to block legislation that has been passed by a majority and therefore represents the People's Will. It is not in the Constitution and I don't know of any other of the Great Legislatures in foreign nations that has anything like it and I, therefore, regard it with suspicion

 

LOL, sorry the “none of the other kids are doing it” areguments are vapid. Oh, and the filibuster was instituted to prevent “majority rules” crowd mentality.

 

Our Legislative procedures are based on well over a thousand years of experience in our parent nations, we do well not to ignore them and come up with things to defeat our legislature's major purpose all the time. I understand that Democracy is dangerous and must be checked in its excesses but I think our Constitution does a fine job of that without adding to it. We risk obviating its entire reason for existence in our zeal to protect a minority who themselves oppose its precepts.

 

Most of our parent nations are not based on individual liberty. Most of them are based (currently) on majority rules...always. We left them because the representatives of the individual colonies did not get a say in what transpired because they were in the minority. Now you're wanting to bring back the same thing that caused a revolution?

Was it racist when Obama and Biden were arguing to maintain the current filibuster rule, or did this just become a thing since January 2021?

 

But protecting the minority from mob rule was one of the Founders prime objectives; they were well aware of the systems you reference as well as their shortcomings. It’s the reason they created a represenative republic rather than a pure democracy.

 

We all know who the racists are and where they come from.

Take Anti-Semitism. The more education you have in the U.S., the more likely you are to support authoritarian measures against faithful Jews. But BLM? Not so much.

I have always been against this fake filibuster rules as it stands.
If one wants to filibuster to make a point, then get up and do the work and make the speech needed to actually filibuster.

 

And when R's have 51% or more, then the have the pure democracy.
Filibuster isn't going away, just the fake filibuster where one claims, filibuster without actually performing the act.

Of course Democrats are racist. Let us look at a few things and decide.

1. Planned parenthood is a Democrat program that was sold to the public as a compassionate answer for those girls who get pregnant out of wedlock. If one objects they are battered with the slogans " A woman's right to choose" etc. The truth: Abortion is a big business. Abortion saves the government billions of dollars from the social welfare programs. The result has been over 62 million abortions since 1973 in the United States alone. That's the same amount as 10 Jewish Holy-cost's. Yet the nation is silent just as they were in WW ll. Approximately 36 million have been minorities. The black population in the USA has gone down from 16% to 13%. How can legal genocide be any different than extermination?

2. Political power is a most dangerous tool for the enslavement of the masses. When one party is threatened they seem to find a way to attract new recruits.The racist Democrats were losing power in the 60's and came up with the "Civil Rights Act" . Why? Too attract black voters who were mainly Republican. There were a few hard line Democrat racists who weren't about to go along and they left the party. They declared themselves Republican but they were not invited. It was a great move and they have used it ever since anytime they need to expand the base. The Democrats tell us we must have open borders as it is the compassionate thing to do. When questioned the first answer is "it's for the children".
The truth: The country is on the edge of collapse if it does not find a way to bring in monies to pay for all the entitlement programs they have shackled their subjects with. Just as the Romans loved their Emperors as long as they were receiving handouts so too do the Americans. The coffers are near bare and the masses are demanding more and more it has left the parties vulnerable to "loss of power". The solution for them is cheaper labor too be used for crumbling infrastructure programs, roll back of tax breaks for corporations, higher utility fees and gas taxes. It will not be long before we all will be beholden to the elites once more. Individualism is not a good thing and therefore the start of the "culture wars".

Many would say I'm a loose cannon or a chicken little. Facts are I see us losing more and more freedoms every year and becoming closer and closer wards of the state. If I ran my household and managed my money the way the government runs their business I would be arrested for fraud and embezzlement.

 

Sounds great, lets do it after we treat the GOP like they treated us for the last 12 years. Then we can all sing around the campfire and sing along with Mitch again.
