    Oh please dear God, yes.

Those people are not worth another dime of my money or another life of an American soldier.

I thought when Obama did this it created ISIS. Only it was Iraq, not Afghanistan.

What's next? YSYS? I mean, I know you lot of trumphiles ignore facts and love to be hypocritical, but can we all lie and say Trump created the next extremist group because we left Afghanistan?

(I am for the move of leaving Afghanistan, because we never should have been there in the first place.)

I am in favor of withdrawal. Strong American defense and no nation building.

I've got 5:1 odds that says Trump has a tweet wherein he called Obama a failure/coward for making this type of decision.

"Defense" is the operative term. Why am I constantly being taxed for "offense" when the constitution says "defense of the union?"

****ing grotesque misuse of the public's money.

Different geography, different neighborhood, different political powers at play.

    I say leave.

Afghanistan would become another hotbed and front for ISIS and the Taliban, but there are really only 2 choices concerning the Middle East which are we keep a military presence there forever (similar to Korea), or we pull out entirely and accept that we will most likely have to return in the future to deal with ISIS and the Taliban again.

Pretty sure most of the critism Obama received was about his announcing the timetable for US withdrawal. Most of us, and maybe Trump, IDK, thought telegraphing US strategy to terrorists was a mistake. The Afghan gov't wanted us out a long time ago, so this comes as no real surprise.

Frankly I am sick of our sons and daughters dying to ISIS. Bomb them into the stone age or withdraw completely. The US has bailed everyone out so much it's absurd.

Speaking of which, where is that plan? He said he was going to demand that the general submit to him a plan to defeat ISIS within 30 days of him taking office. They did that (not that they needed to, because Trump said he knew more about ISIS than the generals did anyway). Whatever happened with this?

We leave or stay, Afghanistan is still a cesspool. I see no reason to stay.
It'll probably host the next ISIS, or Al Qaeda, or whatever. So what.

American troops should not be sent into combat anywhere under current rules of engagement.

I don't admire the endemic corruption that pervades Afghanistan. There's corruption everywhere - in government, in the military, and in the police. I don't admire Afghan culture.

Still, the problem with simply withdrawing is that, if we do, the taliban will take over. Now, I wouldn't especially care about that very much, except that the taliban and Al Qaeda are still aligned with each other. So if the taliban takes over Afghanistan, the country reverts to what it was pre-9/11 - a home base for Al Qaeda, an organization that is our enemy and still wishes to harm us.

It's always sad when we lose a soldier in Afghanistan, but the truth is that our casualties there are very light. The other truth is that the taliban forces have never been able to stand against a supported unit of US soldiers or Marines. They are reduced to planting IEDs and trying sniping and ambushes, but they cannot defeat US forces in any sustained pitched battle. So, to just prevent a taliban complete takeover of the country, our investment could be fairly small. It wouldn't be enough to secure the whole country, but it could prevent a collapse of the government and continue the support of the Afghan army (be that as it may). Several supported battalions could probably accomplish this.

It's an option to just giving up and letting our enemies have the country.

If all the free nations in the world would go to Afghanistan (and other terrorist strongholds) and collectively take on the terrorist this BS would be over in 10 minutes. They threaten the world.

Now trump wants to cut and run?

Screw the Middle East. We should have never been there (ask Russia, they learned the hard way as well). It matters not WHO we leave in charge over there, there will be internal wars just like there have been the last 5,000 years, no matter what. The best policy is let them kill each other and let Allah sort them out. It's what they do. Eff them and the camels they rode in on.

Bring all troops home, along with all military equipment. Place military bases along the borders, that can be utilized for real time training, and at the same time, "the wall". With today's technology we don't need a real physical wall, rather by using the most updated military technology, to secure our front and back doors.

They tell us they keep things classified or top secret, simply so the enemy doesn't know. But I say let them know, besides what are they going to do? Not only that but the American people and military will have the truth, and what's more important than the truth? At least we would know we would be fighting on the side of truth. Instead of basing our votes and opinions off of what is given unto us. American leadership keep things classified and top secret, because they are the ones doing illegal activity (lying). Until that changes, America will continue to drown.
