I'm too old and sick to fight but I would stay and help in any other way I could.

We have plenty of people to handle everything and no need to deploy kids women and the elderly. Even is 6% (the most qualified) volunteer, we'd have an army over 20 times larger than Russia and 10 times the side of Chinese military.

That is a moot point since its a hypothetical question. Such situation could never happen in US.

You are not alone, because 20% of the population are seniors and 22% are underage, and 50% are women. Of course some here claim its just an excuse.

The idea that our military is large enough now to deal with any possible contingency is ridiculous. If we had to fight Iran we would easily need a 500,000 man force. The same if we had to fight the North Koreans simultaneous (remember that there are hundreds of thousands of American civilians in Seoul, SK within easy range of the North Koreans). That's one million troops required just right there. and we don't have one million troops available much less the support forces those troops require.

If you go to wars overseas against multiple countries, then you obviously need a large military, but we are talking about deploying women and children to fight here in the US against an imaginary enemy who invaded us.

Those soldiers that came before are dead. They are not watching and they can't care. I guess I understand people who want to die in combat rather than chronic illness. There is a market for mercenary soldiers. Ukraine probably could use your phone number.

So, you'd flee, right? All that window dressing aside, you're getting those Nike's laced back to the homeland aren't you...

You do realize that if this "imaginary enemy" invaded the United States it is very unlikely that they STARTED with the United States?

The topic is simple: It is about what would happen in US if the country was invaded the way Russia invaded Ukraine aka enemy tanks rolling across the border.

So, what are you talking about?

Yes, but I care. I care about their courage and sacrifice. I care about the example they set for us all. And I’ll be damned if I am going to let some foreign army occupy my country without fighting back. And if I die fighting, I die fighting.

That if an enemy invades the U.S. that enemy would almost certainly have invaded and conquered other nations first.

If you want I can suggest a scenario.

Well it's pretty easy to say what you would do while Monday morning quarterbacking, but I would sure like to think I would stay right in my home and die there if necessary and I would defend myself and my neighborhood.

I am not a cop and I have never been a soldier and I have never found myself in that position so I really honestly don't know what I would do.

I have never been tested and walked through that fire and I don't think anyone can say what they would do unless they have

But one thing is pretty certain, pretty sure that the United States of America has more guns per capita than any other Nation on Earth .

Now whether people would pick them up and fire them in anger is a whole another topic.

I would like to think I could give a good accounting of myself but like I said I've never walked through the fire

I would stay and fight, and since my wife is a veteran I'm sure she would, too.

Well one thing is for sure first and foremost you would need to have yourself a gun and a good supply of ammunition to do a damn thing.

Every household in America needs to have at least one gun and 500 rounds of ammo to feed it.

But I do know I won't die easy and I won't get on a cattle car.

And if you only have one gun I'd say you can't go wrong with a 12 gauge. And for god sakes go out and shoot it once in a blue moon so you know how to use the damn thing if you need it. Make sure and put the stock tight up against your shoulder and sort of lean forwards into it. It's going to rock you back a little bit so you want to lean forwards

Hey sleepy Joe get something right once in a blue moon even if only by default :)

That attitude gets us weekly mass shootings.

Oh bull crap. In the days before you and I were born America had more guns than ever and there was hardly ever a mass shooting so it is not the guns.

I bet you the average Ukrainian civilian is glad they either have a gun or know somebody that does.

I'm pretty sure I could give a good accounting of myself if I was called to but like I said I've never walked through the fire so I really don't know.....

I miss my pet water moccasin... I'd like to have me all five of Florida's venomous snakes as pets.

The Eastern diamondback, the dusky pygmy rattlesnake, the water moccasin the copperhead and the coral snake.

Ukrainians handled it sensibly. They started training and buying and handing out guns when it was actually necessary. It makes sense to have a lot of guns around in wartime. Not so much in peacetime.

If I was in Ukraine and was a Ukrainian, I would stay and fight for my homeland. I would have to anyway.

If I lived elsewhere and was Ukrainian, maybe not.

Yeah that's really what you want someone who's never fired a gun and is only handled one two weeks ago....

Vs a child who grew up with BB guns and then a 22 rifle and guns all their life.

If you have never fired a shotgun you're not even going to get over your fear of recoil within 2 weeks

I know right ? What the hell would we do run to Canada or Mexico?

I guess if I had to I'd bug out here into the sticks.
Speaking of which my good three person tent that I ordered from Amazon will be here this afternoon. Any good tent should be able to keep the rain and bugs off you and that's what I got.

$100 bill later of course. It's just a good idea to have one anyways. This is hurricane country you always want to have some basic survival gear on hand

If you owned a firearm you'd know better.

Just about everybody who lives in my area owns at least one gun and has hundreds of rounds of ammo on hand, and there hasn't been a single shooting in our area, much less a mass shooting.

Incidentally, 500 rounds of ammo isn't as much as you might think, especially if you own multiple firearms. I've probably got 250 rounds of ammo in my house and my wife and I can easily burn through half of that doing target practice two or three times a year.

I know right? I consider myself fairly lightly armed with only my 44 cap and ball but I got a couple of good friends that have a room in their house that the only thing that lives in that room is guns and ammo.

    Good to have friends!
