I think you argue just for the sake of arguing. Ohare is 10 miles away, and on many days they take off over the lake to start their ascent. At 10 miles out, most glide slopes put the plane at less than 3000 feet. At 2800 feet, a Boeing 737 is heard at 70.9 decibels. https://www.nats.aero/environment/aircraft-noise/ That is identified as "very loud" Then you say "that bothered you"... no, I said in the original post that I slept like a baby. If this is how you have a conversation, with what started as a simple story to which you called a lie, which was proved wrong, then assumed you were more knowledgeable which you weren't, and finally accused me of saying something I didn't... Get lost. I have no interest in speaking with somebody who argues just to argue.
No I dont like people who fake and hyperbole, right now I live 2 miles away from boise Idaho airport and it's no big deal . You act like its top gun a fricken movie
LMAO Boise Idaho verse O'hare international. Yeah, those turbo props once every hour is the same as Dreamliners every minute. https://maps.bts.dot.gov/arcgis/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=a303ff5924c9474790464cc0e9d5c9fb
It being inconvenient for you is relevant because it clearly illustrates your anti constitutional mindset.
Why wouldn't POTUS serve that purpose? Why would eliminating the EC require a change? One person, one vote, regardless of what state you live in. We're all equally American. Yes, they did pay me pretty well. Achieved a six figure income for several years, until the Dot Com bubble burst. A bit less after that, until the credit/housing bubble burst and we all had to settle for less in a buyer's market. But overall, I did pretty good for a woman who didn't go to college.
Currently our president is President of the United States (POTUS). Not president of the people. It’s an important distinction. Many states would not remain in the Union if the electoral college was eliminated. Thanks for sharing. That’s very interesting to me how incomes declined after the .com bust and the housing crash. That had to be a little frustrating. Sounds like you decided to work hard at something you have a natural talent for and succeeded. That’s how it’s supposed to work. What sector did you do most of your writing for?
Strange comment from someone not involved in the conversation. Were you just having a hankering to bicker aimlessly ? FWIW, my point was already made.
I've responded on this thread for a number of days. Plus, there is no justification for complaining about someone commenting on any post they find as long as it meets site standards. Again, if you have a point, go ahead and make your point.
This is bizarre. If you want to reply to my post, then respond to what I actually said. There was already a point to what I had said. If you have a point relative to what I had said....then go ahead and make it. I personally am not interested in aimlessly bickering. If that is your only goal, then please move on.
Again whith the snark. Where did I say that I was inconvenienced? Stop trying to characterize the views of others. Either you have something to contribute to the debate or you don't, as I strongly suspect.
You seem to have forgotten that I said that in response to your direct question.... I explain fully what convenience has to do with it, and now you want to ignore the very question that YOU asked. I am sorry if you find that snarky. It is an accurate reflection of our conversation.
Ah yes. They are at the present time just fictional examples of what we would have to change to if the electoral college was eliminated. They are as meaningful/meaningless as the popular vote.
Started in the software development industry, since I had previously been a programmer, but most of my tech writing involved military programs. A satellite system for the Air Force, then later a mission planning system for Naval and Marine Corps aviators. I enjoyed working with pilots, F-18s, Black Hawks, and V-22 Ospreys. They were a fun bunch.
Going to a direct democracy would not require ANY other change. The EC is segregated in the constitutuion. Moving to a direct democracy wouldn't change ANYTHING else.
Well, it would be inaccurate to call the head of the executive branch POTUS if you got your change. You’d have to come up with something else.
That does sound like an enjoyable group to work with. I’m assuming you were a contractor? I’m surprised your salary decreased in that line of work.
Me, too. Some of it was contract work, but that last gig was not. I was employed by a small aerospace contractor, and finished put my career there.
I've lived about a half a mile from the end of a runway before and even with windows and doors closed I had to watch TV with the remote in hand so that I could turn the volume up and down depending on whether or not there was an aircraft going over. I know nothing about the patterns at O'hare, but I currently live about 15 miles from Charlotte Douglas International and I'm right under the departure and approach patterns for at least one of their runways, and the aircraft going over me are still plenty noisy. They don't rattle windows or anything, but you definitely know when one goes over if you're outside.
Oh, good lord. The president would still be POTUS. The United States has a constitution that specifies that.
Nah. If there was no EC, it would be just as accurate to call the president the king of Siam as POTUS. Words mean things.
