There isn't really any good evidence that guns reduce crime, but I guess people choose to own guns for emotional not logical reasons.

What's the solution? Maybe replace modern gun culture which encourages people to fire at any perceived threat with America's original gun culture as envisioned by the Founding Fathers which involved citizens responsibly participating in a well-regulated militia.

I fully support militia participation. The militia of the United States is legally defined as all able-bodied males between the ages of 17 and 45 who are, or intend to become, citizens of the United States. What laws do you think are necessary to better regulate the militia and will promote greater participation in it?

there's lots of surplus M14 rifles, Nam era M16 rifles and the ammo for both that are no longer used by our military. Same with 1911 colt pistols and MI carbines. Maybe a monthly 100 rounds of practice. Of course I am over 45 but I oppose ageism so I will be happy to practice as well and given I qualified Expert with lots of different firearms, I could help teach the less experienced militiamen

The Grifter Giffords Gun Grabbing Geeks are inveterate liars. I ignore them completely since they are nothing more than anti American enemies of our constitution

I Commanded a Basic Training Company at Ft Leonard Wood in the late 70's and taught lots of marksmanship classes. I did the same in Iraq as a contractor decades later. (I was in my 50's in Iraq.)
Now help new gun owners with learning the same skills. There are a LOT of new gun owners!

What a mess Philly is. I lived in the Philly suburb of Fort Washington for awhile. There are two things worth seeing in Philly: The Liberty Bell/Independence Hall Area... and Bookbinder's Restaurant. And Bookbinder's is closed.
Another lost Blue-run city with crime out of control.

I'm always armed and no one has ever committed a violent crime around me. Ever.

There are many first time gun owners who either have common sense or were shown their way around guns by someone who does have common sense.

Is there some other point this video is supposed to achieve? I'm pretty sure we all know you shouldn't be stupid with a gun

    Sure.

It tends to show that some instruction is useful when it comes to firearms.

Yes, exactly. An untrained driver is a danger not only him/herself, but also to those around them and same is true with firearms, although guns do not require as much training as driving.

accidental injuries from firearms are a very small part-most injuries are intentional which has nothing to do with training. I believe accidental shootings have been going down despite the number of guns in society increasing.

most of my friends were taught by their parents or at summer camps (I had both). at one of my three gun clubs, you have to watch a safety film-at the other there is a one hour safety meeting run by the SRO that goes over the rules and safe gun handling. The third place is public and first time shooters have to read a safety bulletin. they are quizzed by the RO before they can shoot

The gun control groups like Every Town For Gun Safety should spend some of their millions on training classes for first time gun owners.

those groups are run by grifters who play on the emotions of low wattage-often kind hearted, pawns who give them money and think they actually care about saving children

best I saw was at a public range where I was working with one of my DEA agents who was going to the FBI and needed to pass the firearms classes. Next to us was a 25 or so year old woman with what appeared to be her boyfriend. she was wearing daisy dukes over a black long sleeve scoop neck leotard. She had a big chest and sure enough, after shooting an entire magazine out of a Glock , one of the empty cases bounced down from the booth right between her two boobs -you could see the hot shell melting the fabric of the leotard. so she's reaching under the hem of her shorts trying to pull that out. Fortunately I didn't laugh though it took a lot not to . the woman looked at Nicole and I and said-I bet that looked funny and I said It looked painful to me

I told my student that is why I tell people to wear a hat and crew neck shirts at indoor ranges

It means well functioning. A well regulated / functioning militia would not have members who are children, criminals, mentally insane, habitual drunkards, or people who are physically or mentally incapable of handling firearms, or people who don't know the first thing about firearms (like many people in the video).

and you would agree with me that this part of the second in no way gives the federal government any powers not already evident in Article one section eight. I have my doubts about that video -some of that looks staged.
