Mental eval, but not prior to every purchase. Like CCW license you get it one time, and then you are cleared. Background check is for every purchase, which is already being done when buying from a dealer.

So call out the militia, but that won't get you a shot at the non able bodied. You don't get an additional condition.

The militia is not the populace entire. You can call out the militia, and **** with them. You cannot get those who aren't in the militia because they ain't got no ****ing legs. They don't need to go do a physical, they ain't got no ****ing legs. Or they're fat as hell. Or any of any number of things that make one not 'able bodied'.
Not to mention AGE and the fact that the boomers are the largest group and largely aren't militia at this point having aged out.

You're going to get a look at some but not all or even most.
To get that look, you'll have to train and drill them. I doubt you're willing to do that.

Further: You're not able to add another condition "psych eval" to purchase, or just generally for KEEPING or BEARING arms.
Still further: The NFA etc are getting struck pretty soon so I wouldn't get really attached to your idea.

Can criminals KEEP AND BEAR? No, and maybe the mentally insane shouldn't either.

    Its illegal in both cases.
If you see something, say something.
Each of the mass shooters you might name have a family member who should've narced on them. If that had occurred, if that family member had moved to have them committed as is proper for the criminally insane, we wouldn't have these issues.

If they're THAT dangerous, don't let them out of prison ffs.

Yes, they can. Only those who have been officially adjudicated as mentally defective can't, but most insane people are not adjudicated.

Its not enough to say something. The guy who shot up Ft Lauderdale airport was schizophrenic and heard voices, but they gave him his guns back because he had not been officially adjudicated as insane.

Which is why one is required to pass certain tests, to get a license, before being allowed to drive.

    So what's your point?

    For instance...?

I have no reason to doubt, that the prestigious
JAMA journal of Internal Medicine, found that, after Florida's "stand your ground" laws were enacted, firearm homicide increased by 32%, and the overall homicide rate increased by 24%.

    Do you?

Should someone be banned from automobile ownership if they have a record or a diagnosed mental condition? Should they have to pay a $200 tax stamp for a muffler that only they can use?

I would dispute that. Training is different from education. Education means informing whereas training means embedding a pattern of behaviour. I assisted to train my niece in driving…..

Leant to say “slow” in seven different levels of panic

Which is why rifle sound mufflers are required in some Nordic countries.

So if someone has a drug charge they should be banned from driving for the rest of their life?

Did they prove a causal effect? Do you have a link to the study?

    Found the study.

Florida's homicide rate actually fell from 2005 to 2014.

Florida's gun homicide rate did increase from 2005 to 2014, but it fell 7% from 2006 to 2014.

    All data from CDC WISQARS.

    From the study:

"Evaluations of Arizona’s and Texas’ stand your ground laws found no statistically significant impact on homicide". Texas!

Maybe it's a Florida Man thing.
