Isn't that the truth. I wonder why they find it necessary to divulge that information.

While I do find the joke funny -

I would never tell clients that I did not believe in God - I've seen how many jobs that can cost you.

I would never think about talking about God, or atheism in the place where I worked. My sister is fundamentalist. She has had a few jobs where she preached to everyone she worked with. She didn't last long on those jobs. On one job, she got one whole side of her Buick Barritz (sp) key-scraped.

She gave up working because she was going through jobs like crazy. There are just some things that you shouldn't talk about on a job, and religion and sexual preference are two of those things.

I don't know, either, but it seems to be a universal trait.

Interestingly I have never heard an Atheist talk about it unless asked, Can spot a homosexual generally before they need to speak, and haven't heard any Vegan say something unless ordering food. I hear a lot from Christians though....usually complaining about everyone else.

And I do have to say, I have yet to have an Atheist ... or a Vegan ... or a homosexual knock on my door and ask if I've heard
the word of "God X" ...

    Just sayn.

You probably haven't had a Christian do that, either, although you may have had a Jehovah's Witness or a Mormon do it. Just sayin'.

....I have....they even leave me a nice Jesus pamphlet. The JW's and Mormons at least dress in such a way I know better than to answer the door.

Hey....aren't they all praying to the same God anyway?

I said it with a sarcastic grin. Basically pointing out the fact that every Christian claims every other Christian to not be Christian. This indicates that there are really no Christians except the Christian that says he's a Christian. I suppose this might be part of the reason for all the versions and separate names for denominations that it has produced. Now is where you explain to me that YOU are the actual Christian and I cannot understand because I am not a Christian anymore and actually never was one.

I answer the door naked. Works real well and my mother-in-law never visits any more without calling either

I find the same thing that except for the extremists of the LGBT community most of them are almost "normal" in public settings. Also true that you do not see Vegans running wild with a v stamped on their foreheads so we cannot tell if they are Vegans or just from California.

Christians, not all of course, but those who profess their "faith" and wear it on their sleeves are often the one who will ask if you have "FOUND" or "accepted " Jesus or if you have been saved. MY ANSWER IS "NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS".

They are. The mormons and JW have had the most recent revelations from God. But the die hard old time christians reject God's latest message.

Jehovah's Witnesses are a indeed a cult of Christianity albeit they have "strange" or odd beliefs and practices. Mormons follow the "book" that was handed them by a UFO driver in the North woods of New York so you may have a case against them as being questionably of Christian faith.

Do you have any facts that you want to (voluntary of course) present to substantiate your assertion that Witnesses and Mormons are not Christian?

Ugh...I've worked with sooo many fundies who use the workplace for recruitment.

I find it distasteful to talk about religion in the workplace or anywhere else where others clearly aren't interested in your opinion. There's nothing wrong with being a christian...I'm just not interested in hearing about it...its private to you and one should keep it that way.

One big company I worked for, they finally sent out a communication to tell people to stop putting christian bible quotes on email taglines because extremist christians would do that all the time and it would offend others.

And I never brought up that I was a vegan at work either unless someone was asking me to eat something that I don't eat and one place I worked, the guy I worked with had a family that owned a cattle farm and would tell me at least once a week how much I was suffering by not eating meat. During allergy season, he'd always tell me that I was sick because I didn't eat meat and dairy. lol. He was a nice enough guy so I'd just politely say "uh huh". I never retaliated by pointing out that he wasn't exactly the healthiest specimen of manhood. He used to constantly complain about his high cholesterol and would get out of breath from bending over.

Yes, they're all essentially different takes on Christianity.

You'll find those out there who deny they're Christian (and deny Catholicism is Christian as well, usually), but they're usually the True Believers™ who are immune to reason in any case.

One of the nicest people I've ever met in my life was a JW. And she never mentioned it until we had worked together for years.

I actually like the LDS kids that do missionary work in my neighborhood too...nice kids.

I won't be joining their religion but they don't bother me at all...good, kind people are good, kind people.

Which is irrelevant because not all are Christian. Christians have specific beliefs, they always have. These beliefs have been codified and written down throughout history. If a group that calls itself "Christian" does not hold to the beliefs Christians have always held, they are not Christian, it's as simple as that. To make the claims you have just made is intellectual laziness, it's right up there with asking for proof of God. And no, they are not Christian because they "say so" - Jesus himself said that "not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

So show me what you know instead of showing me what you don't know.

Every time I see that cross a chain, it was someone letting the world know something about their God of choice. For the first thirty years of my life heteros were wearing wedding ring and those were nothing more than advertisements about their orientation and relationship status. They felt the world needed to know.

Personally, I was never offended by either act, but nobody else needed to be exposed. They wanted to use symbols to tell us all, because, well they wanted a visual announcement about part of their identity. Bumper stickers on cars are also ways to communicate stuff, we don't need to know about people we don't know or only casually know.

It was just a joke.. and is a common meme among human beings. Fanatical 'true believer' status is there in many places. It certainly is not the exclusive domain of the 'religious' or whatever term is used to divide us.

Nobody talks so constantly about God as those who insist that there is no God. ~Heywood Broun

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. ~Aristotle

I considered atheism, but there weren't enough holidays. ~Henny Youngman

OKAY.....I Know you claim to be a Christian. Yet, from what I have seen of you I cannot accept your actions or commentary as Christian. I am left with two available choices.

    1) Consider you to be Non-Christian.
    2) Consider you to be Christian and continue avoiding Christianity.

Either way...you are making your religion unpalatable.
