"But Patriots, too, engaged in decidedly irregular warfare, especially with Britain’s native allies. Hoock narrates the brutal “campaign of terror” Gen. John Sullivan waged in Iroquoia during the summer of 1779, a scorched-earth march involving one-third of the total Continental fighting force. George Washington himself planned the campaign, telling Sullivan to pursue “the total destruction and devastation of their settlements and the capture of as many prisoners of every age and sex as possible. It will be essential to ruin their crops now in the ground and prevent their planting more,” wrote the Patriots’ supreme commander, whom the Seneca nicknamed Town Destroyer. Sullivan followed Washington’s orders; his men put at least 41 Indian towns to the torch. They desecrated native graves, raped native women and mutilated native bodies for profit and for sport. One lieutenant, William Barton, sent a party of his men “to look for some dead Indians.” The soldiers returned to camp having skinned two of them from their hips down for boot legs: a pair for Barton’s commander and “the other for myself,” he wrote in his official journal"

Of course it is wrong. I've said again and again that Hams' attack was disgusting, and I do not support it. Israel's harming of the civilian population is equally wrong.

    1) paywall so I'll simply assume your quote is correct as to atrocities committed.
    2) https://books.openedition.org/pulm/15688?lang=en
^ since I don't know whether or not any context was provided by your article, since its paywalled, here's some context. Those acts occurred against the Iroquois who had PERPETRATED such acts first. I can't credit the rape or sport, I can credit that scalping and such were returned as it was apparently an accepted practice amongst the Iroquois who were aiding the British. Find your sentries skinned alive, you tend to skin alive their sentries too. So by Hamas' logic, they're now due for a serious amount of generalized atrocities.

Further: Washington's order was to CAPTURE people, not to wear them as a hat.

Mr. Barton appears to be a filthy little war criminal who current rules of war would have executed. We do not practice such things now, period. If he ordered his men to rape civilians, he and the rest should've been drawn and quartered. Doing so was objectively wrong.
These were armed camps of militants that were indeed ordered to be rounded up and displaced. Why? Because they were armed enemy camps during a ****ing war.
Because those armed militants had committed atrocities, when the troops took them they returned the favor.

All the more reason not to allow armed camps of militants to fester in your backfield. You're not making a better argument for a 2 state solution, you're making it worse.

Israel has been getting sucker punched by its enemies -- forever.

“Now Ptolemy told the Jerusalemites that he wished to enter the city on the Sabbath to sacrifice to the Jewish God. The resting Jews believed this ruse and Ptolemy seized the city, thus revealing the fanaticism of Jewish observance. But when the sunset on the Sabbath, the Jews fought back. Ptolemy’s troops then rampaged through Jerusalem —‘the houses rifled, the women ravished, and half the city go forth into captivity’.” Jerusalem: The Biography, By Simon Sebag Montefiore (Author), Penguin/Random House, September 18, 2012. P. 66. (emphasis mine)

IMO, Israel will turn the water back on soon, and support for an invasion of Gaza will be short lived as the casualties from door to door combat climb.
Jewish history is a loop. Alas.

Question: Why is Israel using air strikes and tanks to strike a 5 mile long strip within the range of cheap and very effective mortar fire?

Siding With Hamas: Looks Like The Left Miscalculated

'Some are finally paying a financial price.'

    Hedge Fund Manager Bill Ackerman:

'I have been asked by a number of CEOs if
    @harvard
would release a list of the members of each of the Harvard organizations that have issued the letter assigning sole responsibility for Hamas’ heinous acts to Israel, so as to insure that none of us inadvertently hire any of their members. If, in fact, their members support the letter they have released, the names of the signatories should be made public so their views are publicly known. One should not be able to hide behind a corporate shield when issuing statements supporting the actions of terrorists, who, we now learn, have beheaded babies, among other inconceivably despicable acts.'

    Agreed

'Hitlerite college radicals all over the the U.S. are rapidly deleting their online presences as they realize that endorsing terrorism and mass murder makes them unemployable for the next decade. Too late!'

'An early casualty was the president of NYU Law School’s Student Bar Association, Ryna Workman (previously known as "Lauryn Workman"). '

'Shortly after word got out about her pro-Hamas statement, the law firm where she was going to work rescinded its offer. '

It was also those socieities that created such a foundational structure to promote such behavior. Who started promoting sinful behaviors? Materialism? Hedonism? Oh we can't answer that question. Just shame people for failing but, never the people who came for those innocent people at a young age.

I imagine the ones "beheading babies" are also the "filthy war criminals" of the bunch. Do you seriously think every member of Hamas are willing to do that, and that the Palestinians support it? You say a lot of "should have could haves", but it happened, just like the atrocities in Palestine happened. Yet you for some reason equate Palestinians to animals, while saying what happened in our own rebellion was some isolated unimportant event, as if there was no other inhumanity in that war. All war is inhumane, and ****ing terrible. We are no better or worse than them.

And how does a Native American camp being armed justify the raping of their women, and the capture of the women and children after burning the place to the ground? I don't see how you can dismiss those actions.

Who? Persons who did not hold to the explicit tenets of Christianity as laid out in the actual text which governs it.
The Quran however exhorts a whole lot of awful behavior, so those following it aren't extremists, they're the ones following it.

Again, you focus on the sinner. Not the people peddling sin and normalizing it through their corruption of society. You'd blame the drug addict rather than the cartels who do inhumane acts and even force people into it. Just as much as you'd blame the porn addict rather than the person peddling porn and promoting it.

Again: The point made was that the Quran demands certain atrocities. A claim was made that the persons who follow that demand, are simply extremists.
This would be incorrect, they are the ones actually following the tenets of the religion.
In like fashion: The new testament demands of Christians certain standards of behavior. Those that follow that standard are not extremists, they're the ones actually following the tenets of the religion.

The persons you're citing peddling porn are not Christians.

    Thank you.

Both Jews and Muslims both have the same features. They both live by a similar code of keeping it hush hush and lying about your beliefs until you've effectively gained power. Once the power is achieved the mask can come off and they can do as their holy book commands them to do so.

Extremism is hard to define in Christianity. One would call the Trans acceptance is extreme. Another would take the world view of the Bible with the doctrines to be extreme. Though without a doubt I don't think there are any practicing Zionists or Islamists who aren't seen as extremists within their religion. With Christians it's probably due to the level of history Europeans have knowing it and the amount of denominations that makes it difficult to define extreme. There are core tenents but, it's a pacifist religion for the most part.

I don't know why you're saying thank you, I expressed that concept 3 ****ing times now.

I've read both books dude. The Muslims committing atrocities are following the letter of their law.
The Israeli's allow general access to sites of cultural and religious significance. They are not an apartheid state, they allow numerous essential liberties.
Palestine is run by a recognized terrorist organization whose stated goal is to kill the jews.
I know which one I'd rather support, and since the muslims are determined to have an existential conflict it seems support is going to happen.

Have you read the Jewish religious texts? Can you tell me the books? If you aren't aware of them you should also read them. Because the same concepts you line out involving Muslims is within those books as well.

So, you assume I can't read, because you don't agree. And the Christian bible, mainly the old testament, had some very harsh statements too- BUT THE CHRISTIANS DO NOT LIVE BY THEM.
What the koran says is only insight to why Islam acts as it does. The problem exists in the fundamental beliefs these people are programmed with.
People are what they make themselves. Muslims kill their own children for daring to violate dress codes and very lightweight offenses. These are primitive mindsets, with virtually no value placed on freedom or the life of any who step outside the rules of Islam. Want to leave Islam? The penalty is death.

Of all the religions in the world of any consequence, Islam is by far the most like a total cult, controlling every aspect of the lives of its followers lives whenever it can. You don't need to cherry-pick, history and recent news is loaded with the proof. The report that the Hamas terrorists slaughtered 40 babies, beheading many- and killed civilians in their own beds has been confirmed.

I don't know how any human being can think of another who can do that and not understand what must be done.

I am familiar with the Torah and the Talmud.
And the fact remains: The Israeli's have demonstrated they are not a theocratic state. They're not an apartheid state. They allow gay people, women in power, and various other things the Talmud or Torah would demand stoning for.

The same cannot be said for Hamas, the elected government of Palestine.

`Well, they sure owe something for the recent attack.

But, the history from the post war inception of Israel through today shows a constant dependence on humanitarian atrocities as well.

If I may quote from the Koran-

The Koran says, "When the sacred months are over slay the idolaters wherever you find them" (Sura 9:5). "When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield, strike off their heads" (Sura 47:4). "Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home: an evil fate" (Sura 9:73). "The true believers fight for the cause of God, but the infidels fight for the devil. Fight then against the friends of Satan" (Sura 4:76). Who are these idolaters and unbelievers and infidels? Those who are not strict Muslims. "Muhammad is God's Apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another" (Sura 48:29).

For the orthodox Muslim, the Koran's commands are valid for all time. Fifteen hundred years later, Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini (a better authority on the Koran than us infidels for sure) is able to say, "Islam says: Kill all the unbelievers just as they would kill you all! Islam says Kill them (the non-Muslims), put them to the sword and scatter [their armies]. Kill in the service of Allah those who may want to kill you!"

That's just a small sample, but I think that covers it.

The majority of those fighting against such radicals in the ME have been Muslims.

There really isn't a way to stop Jihadists without having the local population capable and willing to do that.
