It will cost zero additional dollars. All obama has to do is allow people to do their jobs.

There are plenty of people who work for the immigration service, ICE, Border patrol, and local, state, and federal police who are currently ordered to not obey nor enforce the laws enacted by congress, by direction of the President of the United States.

How much does simply letting our crime warriors, drug warriors, poverty warriors, and terror warriors, do their jobs, cost?

Zero additional dollars. We're already paying them not to do their jobs right now. It wont cost another cent to allow them to do their duty.

It should have been obvious to you?? It's stupid for someone with a computer engineering degree living in Mayberry RFD complaining about not finding a job...or any other hundreds of college degrees...yet we count them unemployed when in fact they are not employable in their current situation.

Guess you don't read about Microsoft and others constantly lobbying Congress to allow more green-card workers into the USA...always giving the reason that the US does not provide enough qualified workers...I think just shy of 1 million are in the country at any given time...

This is a naïve comment at best? First, why can't your beloved Americans compete for those jobs at this very moment...get out there and compete instead of crying like babies? And second, you are truly naïve if you believe Americans are going to work in the farm fields and other similar types of jobs...

If they are unemployed, looking for a job and haven't found one, they are counted as unemployed. What difference does it make if they are in Mayberry or NYC?

I have read about it. Why should that anecdotal story change my post or make your claim credible?

Makes no difference if it is free or not; you cannot have exports without imports. If your government is so stupid to allow uneven playing fields then that is a government problem...not a trade problem...

You don't even have to get as complex as computer engineers. Trucking companies are screaming for drivers and are willing to train people for free. Railroads are seeking crews and are willing to train them. Oil drillers in ND are looking for help. No school teaches roughnecking so the drillers train them.

Obstacles for many of today's unemployed: You gotta go where the work is. You might have to work long or odd hours. In the case of the transportation jobs random drug testing is the law. Oil drilling? Wimps need not apply.

Guess you don't understand logic; if a person is unemployable due to their actions then how can you count them as unemployed? This is as stupid as a farmer living in Manhattan complaining he can't find a suitable farming job!

You defend every .001% change in the unemployment rate yet you remain unconcerned about the root definition of unemployment.

    It's not anecdotal...it's a fact...

Simple. People are unemployed if they don't have a job and are trying to get one. The reason why is irrelevant.

So if he doesn't have a job and is looking for one, what category would you put him into?

Upon what basis to you assert that malarkey?

Facts can be anecdotal. Yours was.

Zero additional dollars? By what measure? Are you claiming we could end those wars on those abstractions, for zero additional dollars as well? If so, why not simply end those artificial wars especially when our federal Congress cannot seem to justify wartime tax rates for them to the Electorate of the United States.

Nice try, but we already have numbers for one, "boondoggle and generational form of theft" that simply resorts to a tyranny of the majority and the coercive use of force of the State.

Academia is more than welcome to research our other wars on abstractions, simply for the greater glory of human understanding.

They queue up to beg nearly everywhere. The downtown areas in many cities are so filled with beggars that a lot of people don't even try to go there anymore, especially after dark. Some beggars do quite well with it... I've read a number of stories written by news reporters who investigated street beggars, and evidently it is not uncommon for them to pull in between $100 to as much as $500 a day, depending on how well they look the part and act it out.

I didn't lecture you about anything. I explained that I think I really do understand the root causes of today's unemployment, and that they started (as I said) with the fall of the Soviet Union. Unfortunately, they will continue now in what I see as the "New Normal". I wasn't trying to antagonize you. Why would I? And congratulations on the successes of your daughters, Iriemon. I mean that most sincerely. I suspect that they have had a much better upbringing than the vast majority of school-aged kids today.

I visited the sites you provided and it does seem that things are quite a bit better, even though evidently Christmas was not the big success a lot of retailers were expecting:

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-...u-s-increased-to-3-93-million-in-october.html
    http://www.forbes.com/sites/realspi...-job-openings-why-are-the-positions-unfilled/
    http://peoplesworld.org/on-recession-s-sixth-anniversary-u-s-still-down-8-million-jobs/
    http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/holiday-sales-slump-into-christmas-1.2475406
(It was even worse in Europe).

I don't know what's "real" here and what's inflated/deflated. The stories generally do say that there are currently 4 million job openings, with another 8 million jobs needed in order to return to pre-recession "health".

But, (and this fits in with what I was saying earlier) a lot of these jobs are pretty low paying, low-tier, and probably offer a pathway to nowhere:

    http://www.newyorker.com/talk/financial/2013/08/12/130812ta_talk_surowiecki
    http://www.theatlanticcities.com/jo...h-high-and-low-wage-jobs-across-america/6937/

Ah, hell... this is futile. Congress will rubberstamp the unemployment payout extension, and we both know it. It's an election year, and that guarantees that Democrats will be raising hell about stingy, mean-spirited Republicans who want to "take the food out of the babies' mouths" or some such horse**** as that. And, that Republicans, always running in fear from the Democrats, will cower and cave in. Fine. Believe it or not, it gets harder and harder to even care anymore. Part of this "New Normal" I see in the United States entails a permanent welfare class that does nothing but sit idly with its hands out, and we already see that well-entrenched in American society in the 21st-Century. Would this development toward a two-class society of Rich, and, Poor have continued had Romney been elected? We'll never know....

What was not accurate was the Obama claim that unemployment would never rise above 8% if the economic stimulus he wanted was enacted (it did anyway) and that unemployment would drop down to 6% in several years (it did not).
They also underestimated their ability to put people to work.

No, no, you'll never get any traction by trying to pin Obama's pronouncements on Obama. We fought this "never go over 8%" battle two years ago, remember? The answer from the Left was, "No, dude! It was, like, some staffer who said that -- not our President Miraculous!" Poof! End of controversy, because as we have seen clearly, Obama himself does NOTHING, and freely admits that he knows NOTHING. So how can he be held accountable...?

Hussein Obama is the polar opposite of Harry Truman.

The buck ALWAYS stopped on Harry's desk. The buck NEVER stops on Hussein Obama's desk.

That's how the trolls here roll. But unless Obama specifically disavows or counters what his top economic advisors have publicly stated then that's all on our community organizer president.

You don't get to pick and choose, in retrospect, what your views of your own legislation will wind up to be. Dishonest president...dishonest supporters.

    Agreed.

But no president from the baby boomer generation deserves to be compared to the presidents of that era.

Clinton, Bush and now Obama were all bad presidents and all three have hastened the decline of America.

    A curse on every one.

They were warned repeatedly about what would happen to the future economy, they didn't care.
