So speaking positively when promoting means purposely excluding and diminishing other religions---we dont do it to the Jews & Hanukkah! They celebrate and we are happy for them and dont attack them for doing so.

Again paranoia and blinded ideology have done you in...sorry that you must suffer the indignation of others celebrating while you and your fellow victims have to endure the pain of it all..

You have to remember, when you become part of 'god's flock', that really means a sheeple. You are no longer required to think critically.

Refer to A Perfect Circle's "Judith", "Pet", and Tool's "Opiate".

Story is bunk to begin with if the basis is atheists wishing people 'Solstace Greetings'. What you have there, unless they happen to be astronomers, are likely people who consider themselves witches or druids or some other bit of silliness that carries with it a belief in at least one deity, if not several. Sorry, but belief in a deity knocks you out of the atheist group.

Keeping in mind that whatever most of us might think of their beliefs, those beliefs are just as protected as anyone else's here. To try and prevent those Solstace displays would be an infringement on their first amendment rights.

I am curious as well how not having exclusive or majority control of these displays will 'ruin' anyone's Christmas. I thought Jesus was the reason for the season and I thought you guys had rules about graven images and idolotry?

What the facts tell us is that Jesus was a real person. Posting a YouTube vid is not proof of anything. Try reading what actual history says about Jesus of Nazareth.

It's also important to note that Peter Joseph is an AMETEUR film maker.

There still is a difference. You can still speak the truth in a charitable way. The key point here is intent. The simple fact is not all beliefs are the same. So, they can't all be true.

I'd like to hear from our Canadian bros who dont allow 'hate speech.'

Would or do they allow this kind of sign up there in public areas? Is attacking one group of ppl and their belief sysytem considered as hate? Or is hate speech purely subjective and a 1-way street?

If Ann Coulter espoused that languge would she be arrested?!

Good point. I am sure you will get an explanation about how that is just fine, but what happens when we apply the standards toward atheists?

Now, I wonder if any of the atheists that thought the false charges of the ffrf were ... civilized, thinks that posters with the same intent in reverse are ... helpful?

For the record, I do not think that is in anyway helpful, I am merely making a point - but I bet some will choose to skip this line entirely in their response.

Yes there was a Jesus Christ that once walked the Earth. He was a Jewish Rabbi. That is the Jesus Christ that Josephus speaks of.

The Jesus that the bible speaks of is a myth.

Just as there once was a Saint Nicholas that once the Earth, but Santa Clause is a myth.

Tell me MrConservative, why is it that EVERY messiah is born on Dec 25th, has 12 disciples, is executed on a cross, only to be resurrected 3 days later? If you would actually WATCH the video, it would all be explained. It all astronomical.

Violence solves nothing. Didn't the christian right learn that after trying to bomb the abortion clinics?

What violence---methinks you most likely need a bath to wash off all the innocent blood that you spill on the forum during character assassinations..

And, No comprendo! I dont know any 'Christian's who have or would do that!

You're probably taking about an off-shoot of Westboro "We hate everybody" Church? They use a 'Bad Book' as opposed to the 'Christians' that I know who use the "Good Book."

But I will keep an eye out in the newspaper for anyone who kills or abuses a child that claims to be an atheist so that I can use that to smear all atheists...

Why are you engaging with a troll? All you are doing is getting baited, stnes has never, in all his time here, ever participated in a debate.

In fact, he is one of the remaining original members of the flame bait club that nearly took this entire section off line. You'd be best to simply ignore him.

Sadly, you are right. He must have a buddy in the 'higher ups' or some good blackmail stuff on someone to remain on this forum??

Positively promoting a religions that contradicts anothe religion is attacking the tenets of that religion. Christmas contradicts the core tenets of Judaism, therefore, promoting Christianity is attacking Judaism.

Have you actually verified the claims of this video? Beliefs change over time. What did these various mystery religions teach prior to JC and what did they teach after?

So atheists hate multiculturalism and the US Constitution?

There is nothing wrong with multiple faith show casing their beliefs - that is EXACTLY what was happening before boner atheists showed up and deicded to BLOCK the display of EVERYONE else's views.

Free speech is protected, which, unfortunately, includes being a raging jack hole. Multiculturalism, howevere, is about tolerating the open expression of multiple point of view and traditions.

But, its best not to rationalize being a raging jack hole - its still being a raging jack hole.

    BTW - something about atheism:

She said the study, whose overall goal was to gauge how views of diversity are evolving, shows "Americans are becoming more tolerant of racial and religious diversity, but those who aren't religious fall outside the range of tolerance."

Notice how what the (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) bag atheists did in Santa Monica conflicts with what atheists are attempting to do:

"We support multiculturalism, freedom of belief and nonbelief, and separation of church and state," he said. "These are core American values."

    http://blog.lib.umn.edu/edgell/home/Strib Atheist Faith and Values.html

Unfortunately, it seems more and more people are seeing groups like American Atheists and their legion of adulating supporters.

We have been discriminated against since the advent of religion. American Atheists may have an extreme bent to it, but sometimes one needs the truth to hit them in the face to see the problem. I cannot see how this is any different than any other year - one religious group wins most of the spots and uses them to their full potential.

I grew up right next to Santa Monica and every year my parents and I would walk down Palisades park and look at these displays as a Christmas tradition. It brought the spirit of Christmas to everyone who looked at them. This is a travesty and frankly I'm not surprised since the nickname locals have for the city of Santa Monica is the People's Republic of Santa Monica.

Oh, and me and my entire family are Atheists, but these displays warmed the heart and spread cheer to all who looked at them during the Holiday season.

(*)(*)(*)(*) Santa Monica for allowing this.
