If it weren't for high government subsidies in the last 10 years, the EV industry would never have survived.

My EV gets 300 miles on a single charge.

I dont need to plug up every time I park either.

I could say the exact same things about truck production. Why is that down?

Fact is, all car sales are down due to interest rates and economic conditions.

Do you expect a company to put a charger in their landlords parking lot just for one person? My advice: Bring a trunk full of solar panels and don't be late punching in.
For people with no garages or private driveways I visualize charging lots where you park your car at night while it charges during low demand. You walk or Uber or the lot has some drop off/pick up arrangement to and from you car. You pay a monthly fee, maybe get a free car wash as a spiff?

Well, that's typical of the left.

All of their great ideas come with a side of force.

I'm a libertarian, and agree with the free market system.

Your exceptional circumstances are far from universal, but make the most sense in the real world.
**I'm curious about your charging set up. How about a ten cent tour?

Why would one want a pickup otherwise? Just to show off? Small penis?

    Rent another flat. ;)
And who said EVs are for everyone? They are for the higher classes who live in the suburbs and have the necessary conditions to operate and maintain an EV.
However there is a general rule - the polluting one pays. You can have your "rolling coal" but pay the price for it. Why should I suffer because one wants to pollute the air that I breathe too?

Well, trucks are made to haul things. Duh. You told me to "rent another flat"...how else am I going to move my stuff from one flat to another? Lots of people still use wood for heat also. Around 8.9% of the US population (over 2.2 million). Guess what that has to be hauled in? Then there's landscapers, people who mow lawns, people who are plumbers (you know, the people you call for when your pipes spring a leak). There are MANY reasons to own a pick up. Has nothing to do with "small penis". Though I have heard that those that continually reference "small penis" often have small penises themselves.

Can't afford to rent another flat.

Its funny, you admit that EV's are for "higher classes" and then turn around and blame those that are unable to buy EV's as being responsible for making you suffer. Classism at its finest.

And I wouldn't be talking about pollution. EV's pollute the planet just as much as gas cars. Despite the propaganda that says otherwise. Do you even know how the batteries alone are made?

Uh no. Yes truck sales are down But there are no subsidies for those and there are a crap load of disincentives to buy them orchestrated by the government. Sales of every thing is crashing.EV purchases are heavily subsidized even Tesla says the are still losing money on every car sold. So do ford and Gm. That is not a sustainable business. That tells me that the actually profitable cost of those things puts them in the same range as a Mercedes.

Good for you and in ten years when you need to buy a new battery for it what then: Youll spend more on replacing that battery than I have on oil changes.

both ICE and EV are adding too much digital crap to cars and right now there is a shortage of digital crap

time to make ICE cars like they did in the 80's and 90's and people would buy them

also talk of car makers like Tesla wanting to make the cars cloud based, thus a monthly subscription fee for things like heated seats, ABS, etc.....

my Truck is over 20 years old, and I just keep fixing it up as needed, no need to buy the new stuff

Well, if you move every month to a new flat, go ahead, buy a pickup. :) Otherwise you can just rent/borrow a truck.

I also use wood for heat. Wood pellets, to be precise. Guess what, I rented a "truck taxi" with a crane and it delivered the pellets home "in one shot". If I had to drag the bags with my car, it would take me forever and be much more expensive in terms of cost.

If you are a farmer, a carpenter, a plumber... please, take your pickup truck, I don't mind.
But if you are a teacher, an office manager, a Walmart employee, etc. I don't see why you should have a pickup. Let's face it - the time of the 5L family gas-guzzler car is gone for good.

    Why thank you. :)
Everything has a price. Communism doesn't work. Because polluting is communism since the air is a common good. It's easy to use air when you don't have to be accountable how you use it. Someone takes the effort to save the air and rides a bike to work, someone drive a truck to the office. Well I am sorry, they are not the same and the trucker has to pay the price one way or another.

I admit this is kinda true but technologies are moving forward. Remember the first mobile phones? They were like bricks and very expensive. Now they are cheap and slim and everybody has one, not just the upper class.

Mind you, I am not an American and my foot has never set in America. I guess that justifies my answer.
I've seen driving Americans on YouTube though, if that counts for something.

Renting a pick up is only worth it if you're moving more than 50 miles. Otherwise its actually cheaper to move yourself. As for "borrowing", not everyone knows someone who has a pickup...or if they do there is no guarantee that they can borrow it.

Pellets can be expensive. Most here in the US go out and gets their own wood from the forest. Which actually helps environmentally as it keeps the forests thinned and rid of deadwood thereby preventing forest fires and promoting healthy growth.

Just because you don't see why someone should have a pickup, doesn't mean that there are no reasons.

You do realize that the mobile phones of today are actually less environmentally friendly compared to the first mobile phones? And no, I'm not talking about the idiotic conspiracy theories of them causing brain cancer or whatever. I'm talking about in how they are manufactured and in how long they last. Just because technologies move forward, does not mean that they become more environmentally friendly.

Yes, I figured you were not American. Your use of the word "flat" when talking about a place to live gave you away. You should visit. Maybe it will give you some perspective on the differences between your country, and the US.

Wow, didn't know that. This is hard work.

How so? Today's phones use less material, smaller batteries. My smartphone is at least 4 years old and works like a charm.

Why thank you but I'm afraid not. Too late for that now. Getting a visa would be a big hassle.
Otherwise I'd love to visit. God bless YouTube, I visit America every day.

Dear gods! You remove timber from forests and you think that is good? Wow! The whole ecology thing just a word eh?

The average life of a mobile phone in the US is 2.5 years. And while the materials used may be less, the materials used are more fossil fuel dependent than the first mobile phones. Not to mention most mobile phones today are made in China and have to be shipped to the US, whereas the earlier mobile phones were made in the US. Sadly the US imports more products than it exports.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. On the off chance that you're not... The only timber removed by those needing firewood are trees that are already dead. If you cut down a live tree for firewood there is usually a huge fine along with confiscation of all your firewood. This is actually better for the ecology than not doing any cutting what so ever.
