I’d argue the left have those up over a decade ago when they decided violence was acceptable and sided with BLM and antifa.
    Unnecessary

He isn’t “very personally obligated”. Nor is this indicative of corruption. If you wish to perceive this in the worst way possible that is on you, but it isn’t reasonable.

So...Crow buys his Mother's *house and some nearby land from his Family, improves the *house the Mother is living in, allows the Mother to live *there rent free, and you don't reckon a normal human being would be very personally obligated to the bloke who did that?

No rational person could conclude he is personally obligated to him beyond thier normal decades long friendship. Nothing criminal nor corrupt about having friends.

Definitely to yours. Why defend a corrupt self serving individual in a public service role?

Anyone else here not know what they made on a real estate sale?
I don't get all the wiggle room given ($250,000 up to 500,000) on some financial disclosure forms. Anyway,
    Clarence has a buddy.
    Who's next?

'Law firm head bought Gorsuch-owned property'

'The Supreme Court justice did not report the identity of the purchaser, whose firm has had numerous cases before the court.'

    snips:

For nearly two years beginning in 2015, Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch sought a buyer for a 40-acre tract of property he co-owned in rural Granby, Colo.
Nine days after he was confirmed by the Senate for a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court, the then-circuit court judge got one: The chief executive of Greenberg Traurig, one of the nation’s biggest law firms with a robust practice before the high court. Gorsuch owned the property with two other individuals"

    snip:

"Since then, Greenberg Traurig has been involved in at least 22 cases before or presented to the court, according to a POLITICO review of the court’s docket.
They include cases in which Greenberg either filed amicus briefs or represented parties. In the 12 cases where Gorsuch’s opinion is recorded, he sided with Greenberg Traurig clients eight times and against them four times.

"In addition, a Denver-based lawyer for Greenberg represented North Dakota in what became one of the more highly publicized rulings in recent years, a multistate suit which reversed former President Barack Obama’s plan to fight climate change through the Clean Air Act."

Why not? If Soros didn't receive a favor in return and doesn't have a case pending that would affect him I see no problem. When I worked for a fortune 100 company I was not allowed to accept gifts from suppliers. Anyone else was OK. Suppliers had a stake in the gift while my family or a friend, as examples, could give me whatever they liked because there was no conflict of interest.

This is not about merely having friends. This about a very political activist billionaire lavishing undisclosed largesse the way of a Supreme Court Justice, before whom many cases funded by that activist have been decided.

The WHOLE system is like this and most of you know it. If you really want to squash this problem then they need to step up and make corporate political donations ILLEGAL.
Those corporations should be donating to charities if they want to contribute

Clarence and Ginni's cohort claims he paid back Crow.
Then just show the receipts Mark.
Interesting how an ethics lawyer told you to pay for your Crow "vacation" yet you give Clarence a pass.

'National Review Writer Brutally Called Out After Defending Fellow Lakeside Lounger Clarence Thomas'
Story by Ken Meyer • Yesterday 3:38 PM

"The National Review published a defense of Justice Clarence Thomas’s undisclosed vacations paid for by Republican donor Harlan Crow, though the essay failed to note that it was written by someone who was on those very same vacations."
    snip:

What Paoletta didn’t disclose, however, is that he was featured in ProPublica’s report too.

The outlet provided a picture of Paoletta, Crow and Thomas on vacation in Indonesia back in 2019, and the three were painted sitting together at Crow’s private lakeside resort. Here’s what they had about him vacationing with the Thomasas while he was still in the Trump administration.'

    snip:

'Paoletta was bound by executive branch ethics rules at the time and told ProPublica that he discussed the trip with an ethics lawyer at his agency before accepting the Crows’ invitation. “Based on that counsel’s advice, I reimbursed Harlan for the costs,” Paoletta said in an email. He did not respond to a question about how much he paid Crow.'

Being reported today that all 9 SCOTUS do not want a rewrite of ethic rules that would also include enforceable consequences.
Amazing that for once they're all in consensus,, eh?

    That said:

'Jane Roberts, who is married to Chief Justice John Roberts, made $10.3 million in commissions from elite law firms, whistleblower documents show'

    snip:

'That eye-popping figure comes from records in a whistleblower complaint filed by a disgruntled former colleague of Roberts, who says that as the spouse of the most powerful judge in the United States, the income she earns from law firms who practice before the Court should be subject to public scrutiny.'

Crow is on the board of the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank, which is invested in just about every right wing cause there is. Even if the doesn't have a direct case before the court he has an interest in promoting conservative causes.

Crow didn't meet Thomas until AFTER he became a Supreme Court Justice.

Crow purchases a property from Justice Thomas. then gives it to his mother, then razes the surrounding properties and beautifies the neighborhood so that his mom can live in comfort.

Who does this to a Supreme Court Justice and doesn't expect anything in return?

Nothing to see here either, eh? lol

'Clarence Thomas Had a Child in Private School. Harlan Crow Paid the Tuition.'

'Crow paid for private school for a relative Thomas said he was raising “as a son.” “This is way outside the norm,” said a former White House ethics lawyer.'

'In 2008, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas decided to send his teenage grandnephew to Hidden Lake Academy, a private boarding school in the foothills of northern Georgia. The boy, Mark Martin, was far from home. For the previous decade, he had lived with the justice and his wife in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. Thomas had taken legal custody of Martin when he was 6 years old and had recently told an interviewer he was “raising him as a son.”

Tuition at the boarding school ran more than $6,000 a month. But Thomas did not cover the bill. A bank statement for the school from July 2009, buried in unrelated court filings, shows the source of Martin’s tuition payment for that month: the company of billionaire real estate magnate Harlan Crow.

The payments extended beyond that month, according to Christopher Grimwood, a former administrator at the school. Crow paid Martin’s tuition the entire time he was a student there, which was about a year, Grimwood told ProPublica.'
