It's not scientifically defined as a disease, and the cause(s) for people's sexual-orientations has not been narrowed to anything absolutely definitive. If someone says (and can prove) they know what causes a person's "sexuality"... that WILL be the first or second headline in most every website and newspaper in the world.
no fear at all. Just wonderment as to why deviant behavior should be accepted as "normal" and rewarded with special rights.
Not every heterosexual is 'homophobic; but many are. Homosexuality isn't 'deviant', that's just your definition/opinion, and no one has called for any "special" rights.
not every homosexual is heterophobic but many are. There is no such thing as normal homosexual behavior.
If you're speaking of an accepted theory on causation, I'm not aware of there being one. Genetic vs. mental illness is a false framing that excludes other possibilities, such as something in the womb environment affecting development, or some combination of genetic, biological and environmental factors. A lack of definitive proof for any one hypothesis does not result in proving another. No specific gene has been found, but this does not wholly rule out genetics playing some role. As for mental illness, it ceased to be defined as such decades ago. Welcome to 2011.
The decriminalisation of, and declassification of homosexuality as a mental condition, was politically, not scientifically driven. One noteworthy possibility being of hormonal imbalance during foetal development causing abnormality.
Everyone here railing against homosexuals should be REQUIRED to have their computer examined by a neutral third party...I suspect many of the extreme homophobes would have no problem looking at lesbian porn!
Alright then... given the well-known that SCORES of homosexuals are functional, productive and plenty normal... WHY IN HELL would anyone advocate that they be seen as 'criminal', 'mental' or 'abnormal'? Do YOU think or believe they (homosexuals) should be seen as you have indicated above. As for me (given my knowledge and experiences), homosexual people are as 'normal' as everyone else.
Has anyone told you that such is still under active research? Do you know to NOT ask that question after a few people have indicated that there is (of yet)no concrete answer to it? People who ask that question that way, are generally indicating their own ignorance or are unwilling to look up some of the most obvious information assessable on the internet. Simple answer: Please look that up.
I beg to differ - there are plenty of people willing to submit their opinions of what constitutes the truth to the forums. I have observed your behavior here for some time now, and have concluded that you rarely provide anything of substance, and more often opt for little digs and one-liners whose only purpose is seemingly to bait others into a confrontation. As such, I do not perceive you as someone who has any interest in the truth. Which is why I'll be ignoring you henceforth.
The problem with the homophobes is that they think that girl on girl action is fine, and pretty hot. But the thought of two men getting it on is a different thing entirely.
Homophobes--anyone who disagrees with liberals. But, there's my personal favorite. The homophobe enablers. Other than a spiffy liberal rehtorical phrase, I have been unable to get the poster who uses that term to define it. Of course, we all have to deal with heterophobes and their enablers.
Time to buy a dictionary sweetheart. Homophobe: anyone with a fear of or contempt for lesbians and gay men. There, you've learnt something today.
I had to smile at the assumption that being a burly rugby player is somehow incompatible with being gay. Meet Gareth Thomas, Captain of the Welsh Rugby League team. (since retired)
