Assad is the ruler of Syria. Why should he have to take orders about how to govern his own idiots from dummies in Washington who aren't doing that great of a job governing America? Syria was a peaceful and relatively prosperous country before the dummies from Washington destroyed it for Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Syria has had many, many military coups since 1948 and unending sectarian strife..

This civil war was caused by 5 years of drought and declining oil production along with poverty and unemployment... When people protested Assad had them shot.

 

The Free Syrian Army is largely another Sunni jihadist group, although they claim a fraction of their members are from other sects.

The only hope for an end to violence there is to carve nations like Syria and Iraq into ethnic enclaves, as it is impossible for Muslims of different sects to live at peace with one another for very long.

All rebel fighters and their families should be moved away from Aleppo and secured in camps until they can be placed among their religious fellows.

The only better way forward is to convert them all into Christians, because Christians haven't fought each other in a major war over primarily religious reasons since the War of the Roses in 1487.

The rebels burned the busses near Idlib who the pro Assad civilians would wanted to use to escape the rebel persecution. It was the deal Assad made in exchange to let pro rebel civilians leave Aleppo. Assad is keeping his word though. Those people are leaving, while the rebels are out for a genocide on Idlib.

 

War is hell. Civilians die. Expecting to only have uniformed military casualties isn't even in the same universe with reality.

Our soldiers fight with RoE and get punished for violating them if/when caught.

You could perhaps go through OCS and set an example to enlisted men on how war should be conducted in a hands on leadership experience.
