The LIA was a world wide event that that spread over centuries and of course it effected different parts of the world at different times just as is happening now but now you call it climate change instead of global warming. Did you have some kind of point?

How is so called ancient climate not relevant? Isn't it the warmers themselves that use ancient climate to justify their claims that today's climate is drastically different? When skeptics point out no it's really no different at all then ancient climate is suddenly irrelevant? Pick a story and stick with it. You can't have it both ways. Is ancient climate relevant or not? It's a yes or no question.

The arguments of deniers really don't matter. The planet is getting warmer and the effects are being felt globally in higher temperatures, fires, rising sea levels, etc. Anything beyond this is just noise. Our atmosphere is saturated with pollutants and may or may not be able to accommodate more. America isn't the only player in this game. China, India, and countless emerging third world nations (e.g. Vietnam) are going to "get theirs" and if this means destroying the planet, well, no big deal. Life sucks anyway.

I think we've hit the tipping point from which there is no return. The damage has been done. If I'm wrong, then we should do everything possible to save the planet. If I'm right, then pop a beer, fire up the grill on the tailgate of your V8 powered truck, and enjoy the spectacular sunsets. Rest assured in the knowledge that the planet will survive just fine without us.

"China Building 300 New Coal Power Plants Around The World
    APRIL 30, 2019

    By Paul Homewood

China is building 300 new coal power stations around the world, according to NPR(National Public Radio), who I gather are the US equivalent of the BBC:"

    https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wor...g-300-new-coal-power-plants-around-the-world/

"As of 2018, China’s coal capacity sits at 993 GW. The country is responsible for 48 percent of the world’s coal-fired power supply.

The new developments, once completed, would increase the country’s coal capacity by 25 percent to 1252 GW.

This would exceed China’s own coal power cap of 1100 GW as stated in the country’s 13th five-year economic plan for 2016-2020."

Whereas America has clean burning natural gas in abundance so we are not forced to peruse inefficient and expensive so called green energy

Russia has never been a free country. Where anything breathes free, there's freedom of speech, free association, 2nd amendment, rule of law, free elections, etc., that's a huge ideological threat to Russia because the idea of freedom could spread into their lands. So countermeasures to instead spread the infection of their socialist/communist ideology into the USA is what the Russian government is going to do.

And not just Russia: anything Russia, Iran, and China can do to destabilize the USA they're going to try it.

So far the seventeen intelligence agencies haven't been able to stop it or protect the people of the USA on Facebook.

If the USA wants to stop it the only way is to inflict the severe pain of war on these perpetrators or destabilize those countries. Seventeen intelligence agencies should be able to do that. Because the hot air of politicians speaking struth to powah does nothing except encourage them to redouble their efforts.

But it really boils down to politicians not trusting the voters, thinking that the American populace is so poorly educated within the government public schools and colleges system that the people cannot deduce anything for themselves or see through the thin smoke of the destabilization efforts of Russia.

Like the governor and secretary of state of Mississippi said long before the 2016 election, if you see this guy (displaying a photo of Putin) at any polling place give us a ring, because we got your back and Ole Vlad ain't going to be able to accomplish anything to disrupt the peace and dignity of the great state of Mississippi.

Besides everybody in Mississippi knows that Karl Marx is the worst man who ever lived, with Che running a close second.

What BS... And this is why no one takes you seriously. You can't quantify a goal. You refuse to tie yourself to an outcome, just hysteria. If you can't tell us what you want, why should anyone give you anything? If you can't say, well, today is as good as any, ok, doesn't that seem just a teensy little bit selfish of you? Do you suppose that those folks in northern latitudes might not want a little bit more warm? And you'd deny them that? You don't think that perhaps folks along the equator might want a little less heat? And you'd deny that of those folks as well. Why? Because you simply haven't thought it through sufficiently to actually translate your terror into something actionable that could or might be addressed with policy.

And for now, extorting money from folks via carbon taxes just means more money to government so they can give it to you doesn't seem to be successful.

Yes, and every dollar flushed down the toilet on economically damaging "green energy" will make it harder to adapt when the cold does come.

So, are you saying, we're not pushing EVs as much as we can here? In the U.S. we drive a lot and that's NEVER going to change, until we bulldoze everyone's homes, completely revamp our entire road system and start forcing everyone to live like ants on top of one another. Don't think that's happening;) I don't think a single person would choose to drive an ordinary car if you can drive an EV for a similar price. But we're just not there yet. The economics don't add up for mass market. But they will eventually.

And nearly ANYONE can install solar on their home, but the savings are still long term. Break even in 15-20 years? If you sell before then, you almost pissed the money away, assuming you THINK you can recoup when you sell. The sq/miles we need to power what we need is fairly astronomical. I can speak for FL, since one thing we don't lack is sunshine, but they can claim all they want about solar being Hurricane proof, but are they REALLY hurricane proof? We've got nuclear down here, but what if a Hurricane wipes out our solar grid? We're COMPLETELY ****ED!!!! And then there's the Photovoltaic Heat Island Effect.

And China can push ahead very easily on anything they want, because they don't answer to anyone. They don't have to answer to regulation, because they don't have any. They don't have to care if building and manufacturing so much is harming the environment, WHICH IT IS. They can produce a lot, because they have unlimited slave labor as well. They also don't have to answer to their people, because they have zero power. Other countries can't compete with that, just like other countries don't build entire cities that are completely empty. You think that has no impact on the environment? Where did all the raw materials come from to build all that? Thin air? And your little stats on patents. THEY STEAL THAT **** FROM US and EU!!! You think they've developed a single patent on their own? They're just stealing or BUYING them. You're giving them far too much credit. Dig deeper.

And like others said, they are BEHIND the curve in air quality. So they're "innovating" due to necessity. Don't want millions dropping dead on the streets because they can't breath. That's honesty. A govt that has free reign to abuse their people and their own environment, because they have no barriers, looks far more "GREEN" than reality.

The place in which I grew up (Upper Peninsula of Michigan) will be covered by thousands of feet of ice. The human race will be crowded into a much smaller area.

Yes, a benefit of global warming is decreased human mortality. For every one person who dies of heat related factors ten persons dies of cold related factors.

Humans have never thrived in the desert unless there is an oasis close by.

Ocean temperatures change all the time. Ocean life migrates with the seasons.

    Ever heard of photosynthesis ??

I would simply point out the inherent contradiction here. If the planet will survive just fine without us, what are we saving again? If we are saving a planet that doesn't need us to save it, isn't that a huge waste of time and effort? And while we're at it, what exactly do you think man an do to modify the climate and the atmosphere sufficient to modify the temperatures that you fear?

The planet WILL be just fine, what the climate change people want is to stagnate or slow down the projected temperature changes so its more convenient for humans and/or lessen the mitigation expense. Unfortunately IMO one of the biggest problems is that we've populated every corner of the planet with the highest concentrations at or near the coastline and it will be dam inconvenient if those people have to expend tremendous amounts of effort to remain there. We've already taken some mitigation steps like raising elevation requirements for new buildings with codes, but hundreds of years of older buildings are still there and at risk.

I'm at 8 ft myself, and I'll be long dead if/when the sea levels rise to affect me, but a Katrina sized storm could wipe out my home and workplace tomorrow as well. Its part of the inherent risk of living at or near sea level.

Personally I think efforts should be directed to mitigation to areas most at risk, coastal communities and along rivers, some of this is local/state some of this is a federal issue, but most of it is localized. Then you have to figure out just how much money to spend because its probably silly to spent enormous sums when the sea levels are climbing like an inch a decade, unless it massively accelerates there is no need to panic at all, for example my local seawalls have about an 18" clearance over high tide now, so barring quick changes in sea level rise we're good for 150 years, plenty of time to address the issue.

People would probably be more concerned as a whole if the dramatic predictions made decades ago actually happened, but most of those dire predictions have fallen flat.

So here's the problem with your approach. If man, as the study that started this thread, contributes only a tiny fraction 1/100th of a degree through the entire cycle of climate change, if we suddenly stopped all of our modern life style as we know it, our modification potential is still only 1/100th of a degree in average. I mean, you get this right?

So the observation is that natural cyclic modification would still occur, irrespective of man's attempts to undermine ourselves. Would it not? how would you explain the utter destruction of our species and still not have actually solved or addressed the actual process that is beyond us to control or effect?

Folks understand that what AOC is asking for is madness. Because it is. In her limited world view, her suicidal remedy is actually quite insane. The fact that folks, like you, don't understand this, well, fortunately, there are plenty of folks like me who do.

I have to point out that AOC, herself, continues to fly everywhere, enjoys the offer of private aviation whenever possible, continues to require her entourage to travel in swanky SUVs everywhere and hasn't once actually made the difference of her own example for anyone else to follow. You get that ?

What is she, and frankly you for that matter, waiting for? If, as you suggest, you demand that the entire modern world collapse to suit your myopic vision, feel free. I regret that posting on a website like this won't be in your future, but, alas, sacrifices for the good of all, and all....

Always does. For whatever reason, this conversation is the unending adoption of Malthusian prophesy. The world that can't survive because one moron priest in the 17th century couldn't imagine a world where technology overcame his personal demons.

And cold does kill. It kills the food which in turn kills everything else. Why is it, do you suppose, that it's so important for the AGW cult members to try to kill off everything? If, as the AOC has demanded, we dismantle modernity, then what? I mean, is she so inherently stupid that she doesn't understand that her life of luxury and privilege ends at the same time? Probably not, but I doubt she has actually thought enough about the impact and consequences of her stupidity would actually involve change in her own life...

Read Nightmare post #113 and weep. Anything else, IMHO is just political noise and nonsense written on the walls of a porta-potty. Turn out the lights (or leave them on because it doesn't matter) but unless something drastic happens, something way beyond AOC's green view, this party is over.

Since the industrial revolution, humans have been diligently planting the seeds of our own destruction. Well gee, technology will save us won't it? You know like fusion power and like that? How will that save forests, oceans, and plastic Diet Coke bottles? What to do? Maybe a dictatorial government (on a global scale) might work. Unfortunately, the dictator wannabes (Trump et.al.) want to dig more coal and deregulated everything to grab more dough for themselves.

What will it take to maintain our standard of living? Kiss that good-bye. Then turn the world upside down and invent whole new economies and societies that the Jetsons would recognize. Optimistically, we will be living far inland to near deserts with solar, wind, and fusion reactors dumping out air conditioning. To survive as a race (and I believe we will) we will increasingly think along the lines of Saudi Arabia. Timeline? Less than 100 years.

We will survive as a species, but not through reinventing economies. There will be a massive die off and the survivors will begin again with medieval technology.

    Not so bad, imo.
